If you do 30000 encounters you're not guaranteed a shiny, so the odds arent 100%, in the same way, if you do 15000 encounters your odds are not 50%, and if you do 10000 encounters your odds arent 33% etc. When calculating probabilty we multiply, we dont add so the odds never get to 100%

3000 hordes = 15000 magikarps, with the rate being 1/30k your odds of getting a shiny in 15000 encounters are only 40%, or in other words , it was more likely you wouldnt get it. For comparison if you'd done your encounters on donator status your odds would've been 43% to get it , 57% not to get it, only a 3% difference. So donator is definetly not necessary, just keep hunting and you'll find it eventually bud, good luck

Oh yea forgot to mention i hunt on 2 accounts at once , NeoJuaske and Juaske . Overall i think i've done like 400k encounters at these spots and gotten 11 shinies (10 were singles at riolu spot and 1 was at a different place) So you could say im actually unlucky since im above 30k enc per shiny on avg, but I can see how you'd think im lucky to get 10 shinies in 6 months if you thought it was just 1 account

Rip, the starters are the toughest, if you need a bulbasaur preevo and u decide to buy I have one i'd be willing to sell. And yea all of the pokes we mentioned were probably available in december but some might have not survived 10 years of pokemmo

Thanks Genka! I've never even seen a 2012 porygon, and the casino which is where you find porygon was added in 2013 so everything indicates porygon wasnt available in 2012. I have seen Hoot-Hoot, Carvanha, Shuppet, Sableye, Duskull, Cacnea, Houndour, Poochyena, Teddiursa, Pineco, Snorunt, Feebas, Larvitar, Phanpy, Ledyba and Spinda from 2012. But based on the update that added the islands sentret, wooper, skarmory, slugma , misdreavus, natu, girafarig, stantler, sneasel, delibird, swinub, spheal, yanma and heracross should also have been available in 2012. But i've never even seen those linked or heard of them existing so I dont know if its just that none have survived till 2022 or what. If you have any info im missing im down to hear it

Thank u scizo! I dont have the exact date I started collecting but I know for sure 12 months ago I was well into it, so probably 12-15 months. And as for the cost, I didnt keep track of what each pokemon cost me so I dont have a way to calculate it exactly, but I do know i've spent about 180m on 2012s, most of that is concentrated on like 10 pokemon tho, shinies and starters

Yo thanks, looking back at 2012 changelogs it seems like there was an update on the 30/12/2012 that added a bunch of new spots in the Kanto islands that in theory would make pokemon like stantler, girafarig and smeargle available in 2012 but I've never even seen any of them linked and I dont even know exactly which other pokemon should also in theory have been available in 2012. So because of that I tried to get all the Kanto dex ones and have gotten some hoenn ones like the halloween 2012 event pokes.

Yo I recently completed a long term goal I had of getting every 2012 from the Kanto pokedex so Im posting this to share with the community. Happy 10th anniversary! I did not play in 2012 so thank you to all the people who contributed to the dex and my teammates at Team MR for helping out, if it wasnt for them I wouldn't have even started collecting.
