Money is needed for every goal of yours, you have 2mill now thats a good start - in my opinion get a gymrun team with those 2mill. You would just need 2x31 ivs, so with ev training + level 100 you probably end up at like 200k per Mon, maybe you can even use your manectric to begin with. With those you can grind 400k per day when you do all gyms. You can get some inspiration here for what mons are good for beating gyms:

Thanks for posting this. I actually read this guide before and couldn't find it, not realizing it was for GYM rebattles whereas I thought it was for E4 rebattles.

for a new player i would always recommend to start with rebattling npcs with your story mons - breed 2x31 mons for gymrunning with the money and grind gyms then. After that you can learn berry / ditto farming for example for additional income

Well right now I have about 2 million PokeYen saved up. I have a level 100 Manectric I used for Dicharge horde farming and my Starmie is level 70 with the Surf/Psychic/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam set. Everything else I used for story is in the low 60s or high 50s and not properly EV trained since I mostly just farmed Tentacruel hordes in Hoenn to level my mons once I got the ability to change regions.

I have a bunch of garbage mons I could probably sell on GTL to clear them out. But if I were to follow you recommendations what would you suggest as being my next steps? Considering my goals.

  3. Let me preface this by saying I have seen the guides, and I have read some of the guides.

I'm aware of popular methods such as Ditto farming, berry farming, rebattling trainers/gyms/E4, payday/heartscale farming, etc.

What I DON'T know is which of these methods is best for a player without well-bred high-level mons that doesn't want to feel like I have to operate on a schedule to play the game (in the case of berry farming potentially).

My immediate goals are to complete the Pokedex, I would like to get a decent/shiny false swipe Smeargle to assist with this, then eventually a decent/shiny Teddiursa for EV farming, then transition into shiny hunting and maybe breeding good mons for rebattle efficiency/PVP.

I very much appreciate the detail that the guides in Guide Tavern go into, but I'm mostly interested in what players' personal experiences have been and what they'd recommend for somebody who might not have many resources available to them beyond fully unlocked regions.

  4. I'm not particularly savvy when it comes to mods, but is it possible to resize how the sprites appear when they're using an HM outside of battle or evolving?

Those are the only complaints I have with the mod but I find it jarring enough to uninstall them for the time being.

  5. Joined a random team that was advertising in Channel chat with another friend I started this game with.

There's some nice guys but there's always <5 people on at any given time and when I'm on late at night in the EST timezone there's almost never anybody online.

I just wanted to ask how this sort of activity level compares to other teams. I don't have a concept for how "big" this game is, so I don't know if this is standard or if this is a pretty quiet/inactive team.

The 1st region is always the hardest but here's my idea: Use your Blaziken against  skarmory and use your Graveler to take down her Altaria (make sure that it has sturdy, in order to survive that EQ)

Managed to beat her. I power leveled my Pokemon to the cap and just swapped in a bunch. Also beat the Mossdeep Twins, it seems the solution is just to power level a counter team against hordes.

Hit me up ingame my name is captnbaklava and ill help you evolve your graveler.

Look if you have some items that boost your moves: Mystic Water and stuff they are important. If Earthquake Altaria is a problem teach your Azumarill IcePunch and give it a balloon.

Consider using boosting moves, i cleared nearly the whole stories with dragon dance gyarados.

Remember that this is a mmo, ask people if they can help you ingame either with tips, leveling your mons to your level cap, helping you with evolutions or getting pokemons that arent available in your story right now. The Pokemmo community is quite nice

Oh hey, I remember seeing your post about your comp breeding service, looks like it's pretty successful.

As far as your specific recommendation, I don't believe I have a TM for Ice Punch - Hoenn is the first region I'm starting on. I could fish for a Magikarp and level it to Gyarados if you think the one you trained was that much of a carry.

I have a friend who plays this game alongside me, so evolving Graveler wouldn't be too much of an issue. I don't really want to trade for or buy Pokemon I shouldn't have yet to carry me through the story, I'm just disappointed that the pattern with gym leaders is that I need to basically hit level cap on my Pokemon to have a chance, even with counters. In this specific case I'm trying to train Manectric, ideally on the Gloom hordes nearby, but don't have any AOE moves I can bring to OHKO the horde the same way I pushed through Norman by power-leveling in the desert with Bulldoze Graveler on Sandshrew/Trapinch hordes.

It's just annoying to plan around an opponent's weakness only to have them always get the first turn and always have a coverage move to the point where overleveling is necessary. I wonder how anybody would have the patience to get through a Nuzlocke version of this game.

  8. Started in Hoenn since it's a region I'm familiar with, seeing as Ruby was one of my favorite games. I understood that PokeMMO was designed to be more difficult, but I thought that would come into play with higher level opponents that could be countered with smart play.

What I did NOT expect was every gym leader to have coverage moves for every one of their counters while forever getting the first move. Right now I'm in Fortree City and I watched a Skarmory with Iron Head and Altaria WITH EARTHQUAKE decimate my overleveled sweepers that I built to counter this type of thing.

What's the solution? Do I have to hit the level cap EVERY time and build a full team of counters or something? It's not particularly fun to get roadblocked by each gym and be forced to spend hours farming hordes to level up via Exp Share so I can stand a chance.

  9. I read and understand that this game has some added difficulty, but holy crap...

My rival opens with a counter to whatever Pokemon I place first, and switches to counters anytime I do. Gym trainers have Pokemon with moves that aren't stab and built to counter (Ice Punch on Machop in the 2nd gym...). Like I thought maybe they would just increase the levels or something, but holy hell.

if you are playing on pc theres usually better games to spend your time on... if ur playing on the phone however this could be one of the best games you ever put on your phone. one of my jobs is grub hub, so when im waiting on orders im always playing this game! it loads super fast and has content to keep you busy a long time. having multiple completed regions will keep any non hardcore pokemon player busy a while. ignore the ones who only respond to your requests for help with memes and bragging about how they completed every region in under a day and you'll do great in the community here.

as far as updates go they are currently fixing all the bugs and content in existing regions before adding more which personally im grateful for. they also listen to the community requests as well which is something you dont get very often in this day and age.

Unfortunately I'm on PC and my phone is iOS so I don't have the luxuries of an Android.

That being said, I did install this and got the ROMs up and running, currently starting in the Hoenn region. Haven't played Pokemon in a LONG time so it's taken a bit of figuring out as far as what Pokemon I want on which routes and stuff...

  11. Was recommended this game because I was looking for an emulator that had a multiplayer component. So I know very little about this, just played a lot of Pokemon Red/Gold/Ruby growing up and wanted to see what this is like.

Does the game have an active community?

    Is it regularly updated?

    Is it fun?

Are there any incentivizing events to continue logging in?

I'm just curious of what this game is like before I potentially dive in. Please, the more information the better.
