1. Need a bigger prize, Gun? I'll disappear as soon as the PSL ends so I could give some cash.
2. Nobody takes Banette credits but me.
3. Good game, Robo. Sorry Gliscor hax didn't save you this time. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen4ou-238231705 EDIT: #Heroesno1
4. I thought I lost, but this guy turned out to be dumb. I mean look at our teams. Also mfw Delcatty kills two OUs. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/randombattle-238166871
5. People aren't "afraid" of NFE Pokemon, Orange. With the NU we have now, though, you can't honestly find an "adequate" majority that's willing to accept that NFEs unless they're like Chansey viable deserve their viability. I've said it before -- if "NU" didn't get the major power creep being the NU of UU dropping down, stuff like this would still be good. EDIT: I didn't expect NU to be like this either, but I honestly don't really mind, apart from the mild shame that the "NUs" will be "NU of NU" now, or "PU".
6. If Metang with Chesto Berry switches in and because sleep-free, since Jynx outspeeds Metang, it can just put it back to sleep again. There's no reason to run a berry apart from very mildly increasing the miss chances or something. In any case, though, I'm pretty sure it can fit the criteria to go.
7. I mean, if NU was, well..."the old NU" where things like NFE Seadra and stuff were standard and bad and all, Metang would've been good. Obviously with all this stuff in NU it's a different story. I put the quotation marks for a reason.
8. Fixed. Mawile doesn't get Fire Punch, it only gets Fire Fang in later gens. It gets ThunderPunch and Ice Punch, but not Fire Punch. Inb4 I'm wrong, but I've checked most sources. Even then, Crunch is better anyway and you get to run +Special Defense instead of +Attack to top that off. EDIT: While we're at it let's put Metang on the table (although some people may say >Metang), since it x4 resists Psychic and it's actually one of the things we were looking forward to when "NU" came by.
9. EDIT: No need to be so desperate Orange: 28+ Atk Kecleon Fire Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Jynx: 130-154 (92.1 - 109.2%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
10. 0 Atk Politoed Waterfall vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Jynx: 78-93 (55.3 - 65.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery 252 SpA Jynx Psychic vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Politoed: 51-61 (25.8 - 30.9%) -- 7.2% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery 252/252+ Waterfall Rest/Talk Politoed legit counter srs, just be thankful this thing doesn't get Dry Skin yet. EDIT: Kecleon's not bad, Orange, apart from the Sleep, since it has Recover and regardless of type change Return can still 2HKO it: Bulky Ninetales is also a thing, although I suppose you get too stuck on the sweeper; with a set of 152 HP/100 Special Attack/252 Speed (you don't have to always max Speed but ok, you get to barely live two Psychics while having a 75% chance of OHKOing with Fire Blast. 0 Atk Kecleon no STAB Return vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Jynx: 77-91 (54.6 - 64.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
11. If Poli decides to Belly Drum before Subbing, those two are toast. If they switch out in fear of being attacked as it sets up a Sub, even worse. I get people start with Sub first but I wouldn't call two things weak to it's STAB appropriate phazers.
12. I very strongly disagree with the bolded statement here. Good setup Pokemon are effectively prepared against status. Say Crawdaunt with Taunt or Sub, for instance, and of course, we're forgetting Lum Berry. Not that it nullifies it completely, but it does play a significant deal in limiting Chansey's crippling capabilities. Especially given that you're opting for Wish/Protect recovery rather than the instantaneous Softboiled, Chansey is far more vulnerable to setup attackers since you have to burn two turns or essentially switch out for one, which is why I mentioned the Softboiled set, that personally puts more direct pressure apart from the whole Choice-lock. By then of which you can't expect what's in front of you to do absolutely nothing. There's also something called double switching; I mean, Choice-lock on Protect is a dead giveaway you have to get out, so there's no reason for anyone to stay in, akin to how "nevertheless nobody would play blindly enough to do that." I'm only going to answer one question, Nik, and that's in without Softboiled, Granbull wins one v one, since Chansey will be forced to revolve between Wish/Protect, switch out or get 2HKOed.
13. ...What. I mean, as long as the Sub can sustain, it's not like Chansey's going to do anything back either. SubDrum Walrein for instance can use it as fodder. I understand you're going to insult my creativity as I say this, but there are a few things you can do depending on how willing you are. Sub/DD Lapras and Whiscash, Sub Exploud, Sub Azumarill, well you have some things. .....To be fair, I said switch in on a status move, for oblivion's sake, and if you're running Protect, what do you ditch, Heal Bell/Aromatherapy? And suddenly Toxic hits Toxic immune stuff. I suppose it's fine due to Natural Cure, but I tend to believe all good clerics run Aromatherapy, but a set of Toxic/Protect/Softboiled/Seismic Toss I'll recognize. "Which makes it a must to carry a Fighting type move to beat this thing" 252+ Choice Band Guts Swellow Return vs. 252/252+ Chansey: 311-367 (87.1 - 102.8%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO 252+ Choice Band Guts Swellow Facade vs. 252/252+ Chansey: 428-504 (119.8 - 141.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO 252 + Granbull Return vs. 252/252+ Chansey: 175-207 (49 - 57.9%) -- 97.7% chance to 2HKO You want something else Chansey can't touch? Heal Bell Misdreavus. Gets Taunt if you want to top that off, and Taunt/Calm Mind can set up on it. Again I won't go into this further because of "counter demand."
14. In a tier where Protect is perhaps a common sight on teams, I'm pretty sure it's hard for Slaking to do a lot of work, and having a one turn disable without something say Eject Button it can also significantly hinder team momentum. RIP Choice Band Hyper Beam as well.
15. Why in oblivion's name are people still complaining about the pink blob, although it's nice to see the gooey blob get some love. Chansey has terrible offensive presence (Inb4 some Lucky Punch argument comes out). It's only viable attack bails down to Seismic Toss, meaning it can get screwed by anything that's behind a sustainable Sub. Taunt also completely disrupts it, and Nidoqueen/Nidoking don't fear anything at all (unless you want to factor Counter in there). Heal Bell Granbull also makes it scared, and depending on the status move (Toxic/Thunder Wave) Ground/Steel/Poison types and Hitmonlee/Swellow get a free switch. Heck, even Leech Seed Vileplume can outstall it. Being able to effortlessly stop stuff like say Manectric and Lanturn is good and all, but it's not exactly an overpowered thing. It's not that significant a loss of momentum, given the only thing Chansey can boast to scare anything is its sheer stats and status, and 50 damage. Well, this is primarily in response to I think Craig's post in the discussion thread as well as some other stuff said here.
16. Breloom should stick a firm A, personally, but I suppose it's better to go with the facts. Utility in Spore/SubSeed that complements high Attack, Focus Punch, and priority Mach Punch goes pretty damn well. The main issue is that Exeggutor/Vileplume pretty much screw it up as well as Hypno, so the common stops might diminish its viability there. Gligar's typing is of course nice, being able to check quite some things like Hitmonlee, having utility in Taunt and stuff (and hurry up Knock Off fix) that makes it pretty good as a tank, and it can play offensive if it wants. Bad news is any reasonably bulky water completely shuts it, although that's not as prominent as it was before, I guess. EDIT: Chansey is superior to Clefable in terms of the sheer walling, but Chansey's a one trick pony whereas Clefable isn't. Clefable doesn't have offense issues like Chansey with its movepool and Calm Mind, since Chansey can get walled by Haunter behind a Sub and stuff, and it doesn't get Encore either. I suppose you gotta pick up the niches.
17. It's an evolution of whatever is listed above.
18. In accord and in response to the recent establishment of the fixed UU and the preliminary NU, the guide will undergo significant changes in which Pokemon that are not provided in the official list (linked in the OP) will not have as much relevance in UU. As of such, the thread will either be changed to an NU Tier guide due to the length of both tiers that befits the space I had initially prepared, but depending on the assistance and modification of a GT Mod will remain as such. As of the moment, I will complete Pokemon that are listed in the official thread only. However, the text walls I had written previously will not go to waste as I intend to create a NU list in accord the guides for formerly UU Pokemon, however, but only as a relevant part of it begins to take form. EDIT: Haunter and Hitmonlee have been added.
19. The changes I'd have to do to my guide with all this being implemented......oh well, guess I'll have to take the NU guide too. Well, if NU's gonna be like this, I won't exactly object, since the "NU" ness has been raised to a whole new level.
20. The process of breeding isn't something one should exactly find entertaining apart from the satisfaction in which you get a comp from, which no longer involves as much luck (if any), and if anything has become the same robotic, mindless process the old one has anyways, since the mechanics allow you to make a comp without worry of it being spoiled, at the expense of it being far more expensive, time-consuming and tedious, and adhering to "healthy mechanics of an MMO". Old breeding was pretty much cloning, so you could always, or at least for the most part, expect something good (and well skip the 31 IV arguments) and while I suppose it had a thicker luck factor because "oh I need lucky rolls and stuff" it was pretty much a bad thing for the game. Of course, while the enhancement concept is fine, let's not pretend the new system with everything is better either, and if anything I'd call the very one-sided high effort/low reward processes and grinding very disinclining and worse than we had in the past. Who knows? The update (whenever in oblivion's decree it may appear) may fix this issue, but I suppose we'll have to wait and see.
21. I'm finished with my exams, and I have a two-week break to continue with this -- hopefully I can finish it soon. For now, added some upgrades on the OP, added tier rankings from the viability list, and added sets for Golduck, Golem and Grabull.
22. Inb4 epic comeback and your team of steel balls goes down the slope
Am I doing trash talk correctly
23. There is actually this move in Doubles through event, and it's like a cooperative version of Celebrate or something. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Hold_Hands_%28move%29
24. For thereby which what you contrite can strengthen yourself into cherishing what is precious to you -- thereby your qualms and mistakes shape you to be the better person your future can bestow.
