I've played some heavy-shit grindy games (although mostly RPGs) like for example Diablo and Path of Exile, and never in those games where grinding for gear, items and gold should be a priority I have found myself saying "I'm really tired of doing this, I don't want to". Why?
Because some of these games offer a little of diversity and a bit of payout at the end. Optional missions, different dungeons with different rewards, PvE events that happen randomly during a quest.
I don't want to compare apples and oranges, but maybe a little of diversity could be added here too. In the end, grinding shouldn't be easy but imo it shouldn't be tedious either. Because a lot of people are gonna become bored of it and quit, only the tryhard kids are gonna stay. Eventually, only real competitive people who sink a lot of time grinding and breeding are gonna play, or those who were rich before the new breeding system.
I don't see what could be appealing to new players, you get thrown into the game and you have to do the same boring stuff every day. Yeah, I would be turned off the game too.
