  1. The idea is to unban tyranitar so we can allow gengar to stay, right? if this is the case, you'd better focus on tyranitar first. I was taking a break from the game when the split happened and i only got back when it was already banned so i don't know why exactly it was banned in the first place. What exactly changed that would make tyranitar ok now?
  2. Mostly because most of the good stuff you see around has your ot. Jokes aside, i had no troubles finding a good 2x31 for 450k which only needed a little fix and i'm talking about a month ago. I didn't say the economy is fine, as stated in my last post, i'm saying it can't really be the only cause of our bad meta. I know very well they have to be bred by someone, but i've seen so many for sale i didn't have any trouble using the gtl as my only source. They were shiny traders quitting comps most of the times though, not breeders. It's not a good system, it's very much broken, but as of now there are chances for comp players to get comps without having to go through the breeding process. How i got so much cash is not a secret: i used 2 computers at the same time, which gave me an extremely unfair advantage. in my average double run i could make around 90k (89 most of the time) with 4 characters in about 1 hour. If you only have one computer i find everstone hunts to be more profiting (with an average of 5 minutes between each stone in my situation) but there's still the issue that someone will have to get the cash to make your stones worth something, so it's just as flawed as having to depend on the gtl. Again, never in my life i would dream of defending the current economic system or even the end game, i'm just claiming money can't be the main reason when i still see people grinding the shit out of their lives.
  3. I don't think it's totally invalid, although it's true that someone has to go through all that grinding to get make the comp, so it does need to be fixed) In the long run we'll end up of things to buy, but at the current moment it is an option you can choose to make your new comp. I mean, at the moment you can get a pretty good comp with 450k, fix the ev spread a lil bit, give it some new moves and most of the times you're good to go. it's an option we currently have. I'm not trying to say it's nice to have to go through all this grind to bring new comps into the scene, i'm saying that (concerning ou) the problem can't just be the cash. Most good comp players have an impressive amount of comps, way more than i do. I doubt they can't breed their new project because they're still busy breeding their metagross. Money is an issue, but the current state of our tiers is imo something that has little to do with that. Take me for example: I had pretty much all the standard sets you see going around. If i really wanted to get anything new i had to come up with my own custom sets, bar some exceptions.
  4. sure thing: gtl, or even the trade corner Of course you sometimes need to spend a significant amount of cash to fix the pokemon, but that wasn't a big issue in my case. As long as i had the cash to buy something it didn't take me long to easily fix it using some extra cash. I agree that breeding a pokemon from scratch is significantly slower, but there's still plenty of stuff for sale, breeding was something i only did in case of particular egg moves and you wouldn't believe how many times i found the exact poke i just bred for sale a few days after making it.
  5. 1) i hope you're not referring to my showdown replays, i think you're better than that. I'd really like to know what you intend with "your own special logic" when i was well able to have productive discussions in comp alley, but for that a pm would be the best thing. Still, having to even discuss if my opinion is worth being taken into account is quite ridiculous. 2)I think you're right here, i'm pretty convinced of what i'm saying so i totally disregarded the opinion of who deems the problem resides in cash. I apologize for that, but i've seen jj opening so many threads with the intent of discussing tournament prizes (regardless of the tiers) that i couldn't help but disregard him. I'll aknowledge what i'm saying it's just my opinion . 3) that ban really showed how the problem wasn't we didn't have enough cash to come out with alternatives, or else we could have waited a little bit more instead of banning it that way. That decision was one of the most criticized i've seen, and i doubt they would have come to that point if there were alternatives. Ok, it was another meta, but it's really not different that different than chansey's case, or else the thread would have been closed quite a long time ago. 4) Besides the fact that i did npc runs (i actually thought that's what you meant with "Paydaying" since i've seen a lot of people doing the same) i NEVER in my life claimed npc runs were fun or that they should remain our main source of cash. Heck, that's one of the main reasons why i quit. It's not fun, it doesn't reward skills and it takes a lot of time (although not enough to the point where it can make the meta stale by itself). 5) They're really struggling with just one poke though. Ok, pinning on our lack of stuff isn't that different from uselessly begging devs to hurry up, but adressing the wrong problem isn't much better. In a more diverse meta (possibly a future one) having faster cash would definitely help making it better, but at the moment there's really not much the tier council can do.
  6. I had my fair share of mindless and dumb posts back in the days, but the ones i posted on the current discussions were far from mindless and actually added good inputs. They weren't disregarded as dumb by anyone but you atm, i actually added points that were discussed and taken into account by other players. Besides what would you know of my competitive battles outsides of tournaments ? it's not like you were specating every single battle i had in verm or with my team mates. Although i'm far from being one of the best competitive players, i had my fair share of wins against experienced players, but that's beside the point because those weren't official tournaments, and things would have been different under those circumstances. For example, there's a certain player with lots of official wins which plays in verm ch1 quite often and i've seen him losing quite often. but you can't really take into account what happens outside of unofficial tournaments because people often play just to test stuff or have fun. The premise of the entire post (as well as the title) is quite clear to me: he opened the thread to complain about how shit the tiers and the competitive scene currently are, and deemed the fault is in how much grind we have to go through for even a single comp. "So I asked myself, why are all the tiers so shit and what is the cause of all this?" he clearly adressed the tiers, not the metagame intended as the whole list of activities that playing comps include. Lack of diversity when it comes to battles, not endgame activities, that what the whole thread is about. I do have the basic knowledge to discuss why the problem resides in tiering and our selection of pokemon (when it comes to ou, i should have specified that), but this really isn't the place to discuss the whole matter and frankly i can't come to a conclusion on my own. I could say that only having a single ou discussion at the moment says a lot on what the current problem is when you look at what pokemon we're dealing with: chansey. It's been quite a few months and we're still discussing whether or not it should be banned when we all agree it will never fit under the uber criteria. Heck, even blissey didn't, and we still had to ban it because there was no other option to make the meta more enjoyable. It doesn't really seem like a cash problem to me when you come to the point where you have to ban stuff due to unhealtiness. Would we still be discussing chansey if there really were many options to play around our current walls? it's been quite a while since new pokemon or items got implemented and we all can list a few that would change things drastically around these parts. I'm not the first to complain about how long it takes for devs to update or for the tier council to take decisions, and although one who doesn't even attempt to payday might think the reason is the amount of time it takes to get cash, me and a lot of other players don't have any problems with it. I would see the connection if money was actually a problem, but with all the cash i could get in 3 hours of grinding i could experiment as much as i wanted. And i did. If our successful comp players spent more time grinding cash the way i used to and there were many gimmicks worth trying i'm sure they would have been around by now.
  7. in 3 hours i could get around 900k, is that enough to build a comp? Paydaying is mindless, but it's not the problem we have at hand; the problem is the lack of diversity when it comes to battles, and with our current payouts (although they're indeed quite low) it's quite possible to get different comps than the ones we're currently seeing everywhere if it was worth it. I used to be quite the hardcore grinding guy, so i'm pretty confident when i say i know what i'm talking about. Instead of claiming i have no idea what i'm talking about because i was never into tournaments, why don't you directly adress what exactly is wrong about my considerations on the meta?
  8. Lol, money was never the problem (coming from someone who was well able to buy 2 new comps x day). Getting new comps on a daily basis is something you can easily do without investing more than 4* hours x day, the real problem is what we have at our disposal in term of pokemon, moves and items; also, the tier council got incredibly slow at making decisions and enforce bans Trust me when i tell you that getting comps is nowhere as hard as you're (probably on purpose) making it out to be. Noone is running those pokemon in every team because they lack the cash to test new stuff, they're running them because there are no better alternatives. It looks to me that all you (and some other people) care about is not having to grind at all to get comps. I get it, grinding is boring and focusing on battles rather than mindless grind is definitely a better idea. It's not like i wanna argue about whether or not giving better prizes would do good to the game, but that doesn't really have a considerable impact on what players are gonna use in official tournaments.
  9. why cant use salamance in tournaments
  10. define high or else you're gonna rot before you get one
  11. FINALLY someone decent https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPUsQDm-HQY
  12. None. But if you want one so bad make sure you max hp over speed (and max att ofc)
  13. most 2nd gen pokes were already available in fire red + emerald, so they didn't feel the need to implement johto. Also there's no 3rd gen version of johto. Why didn't they add 4th gen johto when the game supports soul silver? send kyu a few pms and he'll tell you (make sure you send at least 4 or else he won't notice). Don't worry though, we're only missing 2nd gen starters, the rest is already available in game.
  14. i don't xdddd come get your comps in lavender ch 5 ig: Mutrumbao, whisper me in game
