First off, "Every item is free" is a bad idea for various reasons. As pointed out, free stuff in a secret base means no money sink. It also means you don't need to work for the things you want, which also has negative side effects. The first one to come to mind would be status; A player can show off their wealth by how many cool hidden base items they have. If you make those items free, then that guy can't do that anymore.
This idea as a whole, while not bad, doesn't really bring anything useful to the table. Last I checked Hidden Bases are already dead content, and this is just a private version of that correct? This content would also end up dead except for special occasions like, as you mentioned, team screenshots and meetings.
Honestly the time could be better spent improving upon our already existing hidden base content, and adding some useful stuff to that.
That being said a "Private" option on your base(Similar to changing Private chat to 'Off' in Runescape stops people from entering your secret base) would be kind of nice, if we actually had some reason to go into our bases.
It would also be cool to see a Runescape-ish Clan Citadel type thing for our Teams. In my opinion that would be far more active and useful(Provided some content is added there) than our current Secret Base content. If I remember correctly Grand Fantasia has something similar for it's guilds.

Mine was because the Hasty nature represents my personality and desire to be the best at everything I do, but having 0 natural talent, which the 0 IV represents.

No, disabling a feature just for a small chance that it might stop trading in Global is not an effective solution to the issue.
See my previous message where Caracal and the other mods cleaned up Global last night and literally nobody was using it. The reason people don't use Global goes beyond just linking things in global. This also isn't an effective solution for reasons other users have already pointed out in this thread.
There are cool downs in whispers and in team chat.

I've been playing for two years and I have never unintentionally encountered the spam cooldown, nor have I ever intentionally spammed a public place(I did some testing on the spam protection for shits and giggles a while back, but I did it in a private area). This feature is there only to stop extreme cases where someone is trying to spam a billion and one messages at once, and most users can avoid ever encountering this cooldown by just not spamming anywhere. Wait untill your Channel/Global cooldown is done and you will never encounter this(Only send a message every 3-4 seconds and you can still see how long you have left for your Channel/Global cooldown without hitting the spam protection).
You've been given a million and one reasons why trying to get Global back to how it was in it's glory days is just wishful thinking, yet you continue to defend this thread. If you want global back, go into Global with some friends and start chatting. Hell you could even start baiting to start a flamewar in global, that would get it active(see this thread for evidence that flamewars attract people). I really don't get why you're dedicating your time to shitposting in this thread when you could be dedicating that time to actually reviving global. Do you expect someone else to do it for you? I mean I'm doing this for fun and I've got nothing better to do, why are you still keeping this up? I guess your persistence is admirable, at the very least.

I'm just gonna post this screenshot and let you take what you will from it.
Caracal has cleaned up Global(Good job btw, I know that's no easy task), but nobody wants to use it. The only guys who posted any real messages in the channel in 20 minutes is the guy who could've just googled his problem, and the 12 year old who's mum doesn't know he has access to the internet.
This is a good representation of what Global is like now, even when the spam is cleaned up.Oh and then there's LegendL's message that should have been in another language chat.(Keep in mind my chat is set to only show english)

Channel chat can go dead too. Channel chat also have various of people trying to sell their pokemon, team recruiting, or various of other messages. So I don't get why global is the enemy if its the same as channel chat.
Global is 95% spam/low quality messages. Channel can be about 50:50 on a really bad day(Depending on what you consider low-quality it may be better). Usually however there's plenty of discussion going on in Channel 2, and it's a pretty cool place to talk at times. Global however is purely spam.
That's why people don't use global.Edit: That's partially why people don't use global. Other things factor in.
It's also the amount of spam. In Channel you get the occasional trader, or a guy who's just straight up annoying, but you can block them and move on or switch to another channel chat. Like I said earlier, if you're having to block someone every time a new message is received in Global you may as well just switch to channel.
People are already using Channel, it's already a nice place to chat, and the cons of switching from Channel to Global outweigh the pros.
Also it's not the same as channel chat. There's the longer cooldown, the type of people Global attracts and various other things. I, and others, have already made plenty of arguments why Channel is the more widely used chat, but if you choose to ignore all of that then go ahead.
On a positive note, I've seen Caracal is doing a damn good job of keeping Global clean. As you can see though, rather than people using the chat because it's clean now, the entire chat has just gone dead and nobody is using it.
PS:
Using the argument "Channel chat is as shit as Global" is not a valid argument as to why we should be using Global over Channel.

There's a reason it's dead.
It's only ever used for spam, asking stupid questions and trading(Which isn't supposed to happen). Multiple people have made this same point in this thread.
If Global were really worth using, people would be using it. Unfortunately good features are often ruined by the minority of people who use them for the wrong purposes or in the wrong way. Global is one of those features.
Like I said, if I could get Global from a few years ago back I would. It was great. Due to our current community however, having any kind of intelligent discussion will always be interrupted by message spam saying "VENDO POKEMENS 1K" or various other messages. The block feature does alright in getting around this, but when you're blocking 80% of the people who are sending messages in the channel you're trying to talk into(Which would be Global), it's easier to just move to another place(Channel/Team)
On top of that, you also have the really long cooldown, which I agree needs to be in place to reduce spam in the channel. If it was decreased more people would trade there no doubt. -

The fact is global is still cancer, this thread is still a waste of space, and we still need Off Topic back so our forums can have some quality content again. If people really agreed and believed in the word of TitanPawnz, they would be in global right now having meaningful discussions about weeaboo shit like we do in channel chat. -
why dont they have a feature that keeps u from writing samething over and over and also ik downside people will find a way like always but it will help keep people from spamming annoying lenny faces and yea someone will fin away around it but still i miss the old global chat lol

It would be a nice feature to have, and I don't see any negatives to adding it(Besides Desu taking a little time to do it of course). Like egg said, it's one of those things that should have been there in the first place but wasn't.

This actually isn't a bad idea, you should make a post about it(If one hasn't already been made). I've often been in a situation where I fill up my hotkey bar(VS Seeker, Map, Fishing Pole, Other Fishing Pole, Repel Leppa/other item) and have to keep switching items in the bar.
Also keyboards have 10 number keys, 1-0, and there's enough space to comfortably fit at least 9 hotkey slots on the screen, even on lower laptop resolutions. Since hotkeys don't activate while the chatbox is focused, I don't see any reason why there shouldn't be more hotkeys right? -

Also just because 15 people voted yes to an anonymous poll on the Internet doesn't say much. I could start a "Do you like sour cream in your icecream?" poll and people would still vote yes for shits and giggles, and to be a part of the minority. You can also manipulate polls by creating alternative accounts and using them to vote. Sure you got 15 yes votes, but it's unlikely any of them will start socializing in global in an attempt to revive it, so you didn't "convince" anybody. You haven't provided any valid arguments as to why we should move our socializing to Global, you've just said "Hey guys, lets all pack our bags and move to a more inconvenient place than where we are; Global chat!"EXACTLY! I never said people had to log in and chat. I just wanted to know what people would think about global coming back
It'd be cool if Global came back exactly as it was a few years ago. I loved when our staff would regularly talk to us in the game chats, and when all my friends were around. In reality though, that's the same thing as saying "I wish modern times were more like the 60s". The only way such a thing is possible is time travel. Shit happens and we have to move on and find happiness elsewhere(Channel 2 Chat).

But anyways if you are saying you done your part, your basically saying "I don't need to help anymore". If you done your part, then you can either leave, or watch us do the work. Its really not that hard asking a whole team to speak in global chat.
I still tell people that trades belong in trade chat if I see them doing it when I'm in game, so I'm still doing my part even though I'm not even expected to.
Also I don't get what you mean by 'You're basically saying "I don't need to help anymore"'. Are you saying I have 3 choices: Drop my studies and real life responsibilities so I can tell people to go to trade chat all day, leave the game or watch you guys pretend to do something useful? I choose the fourth door, shitposting on the forums.
Also, you're not doing 'work'. If you want to contribute to the game, get Community Manager status and moderate the chats. Making a bunch of low quality posts on the forums does not count as contributing positively to a community.Thats why the staff should make a rotation process. What I mean is one person watches the chat (when they have time) for awhile and then the next staff member takes their place. Like a check in check out system.Okay, this actually isn't a bad idea.
This is how some companies do things; schedules and different workers who run different schedules to provide 24/7 service. You seem to have forgotten that our staff consists primarily of volunteers though. They don't get paid like they would if they were working for a big name game company, they do their job for free.
So you're asking our staff of volunteers, who each have their own lives and things to worry about, to organize and dedicate themselves in such a way that they can provide 24/7 support team so that you can have a chat with pretty blue text.

This is already sort of the case however. Our moderators are from all over the world, and different timezones so they each can be active at different times.When you were CM, you gave me a mute for trying to sell an item in global. I never realized that I had the trade chat and global connected. So why are you trying to say its an extra trade chat when you said in your given mute, "Trades belong in the Trade chat not the Global" ??? And the global chat was still as it was today.
Alright, let me rephrase. Global is not for trades, however people use it for trading. You're making me feel like I have to explain everything in exact detail to you smalls.
Also, I wasn't given the power to mute people so something is fucky here. I'd recommend working on your honesty. -

On topic, I live in Texas and it's terrible. I prefer cold weather, and while the weather in Texas during about December is perfect, the summers are blistering.
I think I'd like to move somewhere in Canada.
Japan always seemed nice too, I wouldn't mind living there regardless of what the weather is like.

I don't mean to sound like I'm attacking the idea, but if that's the case it should have been worded that way from the start. (Edit: Suggesting that they make a seperate Secret Base-ish piece of content rather than just making current ones more useful and fun to use is the main issue I see with the original suggestion)
Our Secret Base system is really lacking though, and honestly needs more added to it. As to whether your original idea is what it needs, I won't say, but I think Secret Bases need more functional and fun things first. I remember I had an idea a while back about how neat it'd be to play Chess with a friend inside of a secret base, stuff like that could contribute to reviving Secret Bases.
It's nice to see someone recognizing this issue and trying to contribute though.

Also the "Free items for your base" suggestion is flawed. Players should always have to work for the things they own, even if the effort is minimal. It encourages people to play the game.
