I would say for a beginner, Pursuit / Double-Edge is the way to go. Trick is a pretty advanced tactic that requires a certain amount of prediction, skill, and knowledge of your opponents Pokes that just seems a little to much to ask for from new player. The same goes for explosion, after the nerf. You really have to know what you are doing with it to be effective. DE is a simple, largely un-resisted coverage move.

People keep telling me Metagross, which is what I have prepared as a prize for my first Newbie Only Sponts. But I can see why, it fits into just about every team, can be built bulky, mixed, or straight out attacker, and plain ol' Choice Band attacking set has some hefty HP. Below is the current preferred set to my knowledge. Choice Bander Ability: Clear Body Item: Choice Band Nature: Adamant Ivs and Evs: 252 HP + 252 ATK (some speed if you want to beat certain things.) Moveset: Earthquake Thunder Punch Meteor Mash Double Edge / Pursuit They can be a bit pricey to breed if you do not have the patience to farm both a great ditto, and a great bedlum, but it is well worth it imo.

Chat doesn't have enough moderation as it stands, and that many people in global at once is just a total headache to keep track of. It is totally fair the cool down there is so limiting, otherwise it would likely just become a stream of unending text. Nah, I prefer the channel chats and team as it stands, voted a hard no.

If I were a Dev, I would spend a few month familiarizing myself with JRE (if that is what they use, might be some integrated or imported language, I have not cared to poke about). Then I might play with strings a little, look at what I can do with the system at hand and what the limitations are. Probably would need to know the line where client and server differences lay. Next, I would ask the current Devs what short-cuts or "quick and dirty" implementations they used through current code. Would then try to go back through and clean things up, either through a longer implementation that requires more coding but runs smoother, or a simpler string that doesn't tax the server as much.
