The way I see this update now after reading through a lot of the opinions:
It is in effect an attempt at a slow wipe as the devs hoping everyone uses their 31s to sacrifice for breeding, however, that would not happen, i can hardly see anyone using up TWO of their 31s to get ONE back, and even if they do... they still have a 3x+ 31 comp to bring in to the competitive scene, which puts newer players at the big disadvantage in time and money consumed to breed their comp team.
You say market will heal over time... did you consider HOW MUCH TIME?! I think it will be around the time Pokemmo has half or less its current playerbase as people rage quit, or just tire out from senseless grinding and money spending to get their comp team.
Again I bring up the point of why is it an issue to have good quality pokemon available for everyone? I seriously don't get it, the only reason that comes to mind is that the only way to keep people playing PokeMMO is by making it more of a grindMMO so that they have something to do other than battling (breeding and catching wilds) and that is a very wrong approach and sorry to say a lazy one... you could instead improve the quality of gameplay by adding new content,, doing more creative events and so on. And sure you want to make breeding slightly more demanding but not in this form for crying out loud, specially not after a year or more of a much more lenient system, because as I said, I dont see anyone using up their pre-update comps in this breeding system, and add to that the issues with breeding more complex comps like those mentioned in this thread.
IF the devs are really going to ignore the vast majority of the player base (75% of it according to the poll thread), then AT LEAST bring more ways to support this change, many of which mentioned here such as better wild poke IVs, egg-moves purchase, cheaper braces (maybe possibility of using 2 braces instead of 1?) and perhaps a way to make hp's better determined by the player (give possibility to control the ivs with certain limitations... i dunno...)
No one has yet to answer the question of why having good quality pokemon available at reasonable prices and in the market is a bad thing for the economy.
IF the devs still see that it is a must to make sure folks don't have easy access to good quality pokemon, then simply adjust the roll chances (to reasonable %age of course) maybe make it so the chance of having a 6x31 is two, or three times less likely than a shiny encounter, this way they will be rare, but not non-existent.
I am one of those sad to see this update being implemented, and will most likely fill my little free time in my busy schedule with something other than senseless grinding without hope of catching up to others in PokeMMO.
In the end, I thank the devs for their work and effort to keep the game balanced, but this sink they decided on is a step in the wrong direction, everyone does mistakes, and I hope they fix this one before it's too late.
