  1. Updated: Staff Recruitment & Event Plan
  2. And at the moment, those who matter do read, no worries.
  3. I know about participation and there won't be any changes to overall structure, I know about majority of the issues and I have plans to overcome all when the time comes, I stuffed out a lot of info right now because it's basicly an overview and I'm kinda looking for Staff + Streamers/Commentators at the moment. Kinda need people with higher average IQ than 40 lol. I'll take responsibility to keep it alive and intresting, I am prepared. (P.S Didn't we first meet on someone's failed "Player-ran League" project LOL.)

  5. I'm surprised that it's not mentioned here but EVO bags also provide your current and future mons some EV training.
  6. That would make me a Master, but I don't feel anywhere close to a master at all lol
  7. This is a question that is open to debate since Pokémon existed and there are no correct answers for it, only opinions based on imaginations. Let's put aside all that Smogon, VGC, etc. things for a moment and just talk about PokeMMO. Any person that gets his/her first Pokémon can be called a Pokémon Trainer. Any trainer that can understand the nature of Pokémon Universe more than "Water beats Fire, Fire beats Grass heh heh" can be called a Veteran Pokémon Trainer. But what would define a Pokémon Master? Is it even only about competition for us? There are people who like to hunt for rare shinies or enjoy other aspects of PokeMMO, those people also deserve respect as much as competitive people do. I am very curious about how varied are the opinions on this.
  8. I completely agree with the issue being closely related to lack of team preview and I've mentioned it multiple times previously. But hey, sweepers are not added with Unova or latest update to PokeMMO, they had same threat level before when revealed late and majority of them still has it, the issue is, other sweepers require walls and some certain faster things out of the way beforehand and some mons crippled to a level of being able to OHKO'ed, Conkeldurr doesn't worry about being walled, being outspeeded or doesn't require many mons to be crippled before it starts going into sweeper stance. It's like a list of win conditions you have, the list is very various and fat for other players while a Conkeldurr owner can just tick a few lines and win. Is it unstoppable? No. But you put both sides on a scale, stopping Conkeldurr is a very hard process if it finds a single opportunity to get an easy switch in and throughout a whole battle I've never seen one failing to find that opportunity, then you have the option to run Conkeldurr on your team to even the pressure out. The choice is very simple and the difference is very obvious, so people just run Conkeldurr in their teams....
  9. I was travelling for a few days so I was a bit away from this discussion, but I've played and spectated a lot of OU matches from android on the way. I will just summarize a few things here from my observations, Some people try leading with Conkeldurr, switch it into very dumb things or stuff, please do not rate Conkeldurr's impact according to these players and assume it's managable. Majority of players learned how to use Conkeldurr properly, there is a lose-lose situation against proper usage of Conkeldurr, if someone plays the game like "What if a Conkeldurr is waiting there?" and avoid making some plays to save his/her Conkeldurr checks/counters for later, that person loses a large majority of the matches due limitations the person puts on himself/herself, on the other hand if someone plays regularly without considering "What if a Conkeldurr is waiting there?" a late revealed Conkeldurr will sweep what is remaining without any effort most of the time, without any counter-play option. (Considering Conkeldurr owner do not let something set up horribly in the process or opposing team doesn't have a Conkeldurr unrevealed in his/her pocket too.) I really doubt Thunder Punch is most used coverage move anymore, majority of Conkeldurrs I've seen are abusing unpredictableness of it's movepool properly right now. I see a fair share of Ice Punches, Paybacks, Facades as well as Thunder Punches and even though people claiming it's easy to deal with once you learn it's coverage move, I've almost never seen a properly used Conkeldurr failing to wreck some things in the revealing process. Also usually once the prepared counters/checks are surprise wrecked, Conkeldurr recovers all the progress done on wearing it down afterwards because options remaining to handle it at late-game will be quite limited. Not to be confused with any other healthy sweepers, sweeping remaining crippled, damaged or squishy but slower mons, we are talking about perfectly healthy mons getting steamrolled here. I was expecting meta to start adapting to having Conkeldurr around and include more answers to Conkeldurr in teams, what I am actually seeing is more people adding Conkeldurr in their team to stay competitive instead lol.
  10. I'm not thinking, I'm observing.... Edit: I felt the need to add more constructive things from my "observings" though. Cofagriguses are being pounded up and down or being used as setup fodder everywhere, making you wonder if it's even worth countering Conkeldurr. On another note, as the metagame adapts itself, some of the things gbwead said earlier makes sense now. There are more Acrobatics users around probably due to Flying Gem working properly and Conkeldurr usage creeping up. Yet we have a lot of mons in OU now with incredible utility, walling potential or raw power and only checks/counters that include names but not moves, roles and strategies. To name some of them, Guts Conkeldurr, Taunt Hydreigon, Calm Mind Reuniculus, Egg Sisters, etc.... you all know the names. You can't fit all the counters/checks that include some names (such as Cofagrigus... lol) to deal with powerhouses in 6 slots, so you just stick with running them yourself. Healthy teams show so little variance in order to be competitive that what you see around is either a rain team or a powerhouse team. Feels like effective OU roster is cut in half right now (not literally, but you got my point) almost as if OU is like 2 different tiers in itself, perhaps that split itself is actually the bar between OU and Ubers for our MMO standards that we refuse to admit and stick to Smogon standards as it would remove many of the player favourite mons or make us return to pre-unova wallfest. Is this an ok metagame, that's really beyond me or this thread since actual BW metagame was not that healthy itself, causing a new type to be born and stuff in later generations. Resulting from all of those, I also started thinking any decision for Conkeldurr still might be a bit too early. It feels like an issue for whole tier that caused by lack of some mons in mmo and lack of Hidden Abilities, and some mechanics being missing. Acrobatics users were great recent examples for that. Edit 2: I think Sniper Kingdra deserves a place in those lists too and pachi approves but.. meh okay, fine.
  11. Edit: You know what I'm mainly referring to...
  12. I've neither seen Aerial Ace Scizor, nor a 4HP / 0Def Conkeldurr... ugh... Maybe you wanted to refer to Flying Gem Acrobatics build? 252+ Atk Flying Gem Scizor Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 128 HP / 0 Def Conkeldurr: 188-222 (95.9 - 113.2%) -- 75% chance to OHKO after burn damage you can consider it guaranteed OHKO if you are checking it anyway, it will have 6,2% damage taken almost guaranteed no matter how heavy it's previous Drain Punch hit. yes, it is an effective check, there are multiple checks for it and a few counters majority of them being unorthodox without any practical use other than Conkeldurr countering. I've seen many clueless Conkeldurr users these days with the rise in popularity. Switching into heavy special attacks or +1 physical attacks, etc. We are not assuming Conkeldurr user is completely clueless about it's usage in this discussion. My previous point stands about it's counters and checks being less effective in 6v6 scenarios and at worst cases it can break bones of multiple mons alone before going down, causing more damage/pressure than a healthy non-setup, non-choicelocked, non-fragile, status immune mon should. You should spectate some matches of higher ranking players, or casual matches above 600BP rating to get an idea about what's going on. I'm not assuming you are inexperienced because you have posted a weird calculation, I'm just asking you to have different perspectives of Conkeldurr in different realistic scenarios happening in the tier. Your own team might be receiving a Conkeldurr well while lacking in many aspects required to handle different teams/situations in the tier (Oh, hi Cofagrigus) so please give it a try.
  13. I agree with majority of what you said. I don't see this being the same case with Conkeldurr. Many other mons require at least a turn of setup and at least some sort of prior damage on some targets even after their checks/counters are removed in order to sweep. Conkeldurr just finds an opportunity to switch in and people keep assuming this is very hard on an environment without team preview, then just cripple/ko as many mons as it can. Honestly if Conekldurr side screws up I don't think anything allows Conkeldurr to switch-in can cause significant harm to it, idk why people keep assuming in PokeMMO battles Conkeldurr is instantly crippled by many sources and have very limited turns to wreak havoc. Some arguments even treat it as if it's a Glass Cannon... I'm proudly one of these players and many people knew me pre-unova knows that I ran mons from lower tiers exclusively. But from R/S/E to B/W mons there is an undeniable power creep I'm pretty positive that everyone would agree, I can't do anything similar in serious battles/rankeds anymore. And when I look at gen5 tiers I can see many mons that were considered strong in their days, sank deep within tiers because of harsh conditions of B/W battles, Conkeldurr was one of those who failed to utilize those battle conditions and they actually worked against it, yet it had such a powerful impact that regardless of it's disadvantages it had protected it's position in OU. We don't have battle conditions as harsh as actaul B/W battles, but we still have Hydreigons, Reunicluses, Conkeldurrs flying around freely in OU almost every battle. The level of power they offer render a large majority of lower tiers and probably even a few of those in OU tier, quite obsolete. I believe we can agree that majority of the time it will pull more than it's own weight without much effort going into it though. This is a personal opinion that shouldn't be taken as an argument but; I also believe someone who has no idea about how battles work or anything can copy paste a random team from a friend with a Guts Conkeldurr in it, and still be considerably threatening to people somewhat above his/her skill level.
  14. I know, just trying to remind that "what will happen after" is out of scope for this discussion.
  15. Seriously guys, how can you assume something with so many weaknesses is good at toxic spiking and can survive to be useful to counter to a mon that reveals himself when an opportunity is given. Can we please put on paper scenarios aside and start discussing realistic scenarios?
  16. I'll just assume you are intelligent enough to understand what I was referring to there and you are just trying to provoke me again.
  17. That's not how it works in realistic scenarios, idk how many times you find yourself in a situation where you don't have to switch into a Conkeldurr and a Conkeldurr barely finds opportunity to switch in?
  18. In scenario you suggested I see nothing wrong with conkeldurr sitting at a corner unrevealed until cofagrigus is gone, if you are willing to set toxic spikes you don't do it at end of game do you? Please think realistic. Yes I am putting too many variables on Conks to sweep because they do that with ease, if yours cannot, it's probably Impish one with 252hp/252def made to counter something in an unorthodox way. you just said yourself, Conk usually waits 1 or max 2 down before winning the game. Answers are extremely limited. And both mons you mentioned strictly requires setup turns to function. that's how it's different. There are many other mons that require setup and can reach Conkeldurr's level of power, while Conkeldurr has directly access to power and in many cases it can setup for more. Nope. Doesn't happen... lol
  19. I did calcs about it when I was posting on OU tier discussion thread but I didn't post them to avoid massive wall of calculations. Only 8% of the current OU tier survives or deals more damage than it can drain if you let it bulk up once if I remember correct. I remember Tentacruel was one but I don't remember other :/
  20. That not happening as it's supposed to be is the whole point of this discussion pachi D: EDIT: I felt the need to explain this further, the issue is if a person is desperate enough to bring a Cofagrigus against a Conkeldurr, once Cofagrigus is out of game, Conkeldurr's potential equals 2 to 5 mons depending on the remaining team's potential of killing it.
  21. In real world scenarios, problem is unless whole enemy team is revealed, there is a chance a Conkeldurr is waiting out there, you can't really afford to throw it in to set up toxic spikes or get it hurt because it goes down quite easily compared to majority of mons sharing similar role. I'm honestly not even counting Snorlax, haven't seen a single one since Guts Conkeldurr became a thing.
  22. I don't know what tier council would think about this but Conkeldurr's scouting case looks much different than team building like, a Pelipper bringing rain to a Kingdra or a Defogger making space for a Volcarona. This one clearly looks more like an abuse to me. I find it extremely unhealthy to make the metagame oriented on a mon either to allow it to destroy opposing team or desperately trying to prevent it from doing so. And have a look at what people are considering out of desperation... I look at Gastrodon case, then I look at Cofagrigus case... I see a lot of obvious differences in practical use. A LOT of them.... Cofagrigus is seeing light of day in OU because, it doesn't handle a good number of top used mons, just one broken mon. I am not denying it handles Mienshao as well but Mienshao did not bring it to OU out of desperation, just Conkeldurr having access to Flame Orb did.
  23. I feel like we are going back to stuff we talked in OU tier discussion thread. It's damage is ridiculously high that you most likely lose a mon or two when you learn which coverage moves it runs.
  24. Hmm, are you aware that, the "good team" build here is just built to minimalize prediction required for a mon destroying opposing team alone instead covering up for it's weaknesses or having synergies? EDIT: I'm not referring to 6physical teams here, only the scouter teams
