Does anyone know what happened to those mods that left the graphics like this?

those "kind of mods" dont work anymore, even thou you can still modify your rom to change some graphics like ips patches and that kind of thing

They were a mod, but after unova comes out, there was some script things i don't understand and they won't work again imo

i think this graphic is made from AdvanceMap and be sent in Lunar IPS

that isnt mod

only @Eggplant's winter title graphic is made from Tiled and they dont work now

Yes Tile mods dont work but you can change the graphics with patchs like that old thread:
