How to farm PP Max

PP_mximos.png.253f3c318eb5b19764802d5cc624a78b.pngTed's extensive guide on how to farm PP MaxPP_mximos.png.253f3c318eb5b19764802d5cc624a78b.png

This guide is for one character, if you wanna plant on more characters just take the numbers I will give you and multiply them.

I highly recommend reading the guide entirely before getting into it to see and compare the benefits from various ways of farming it.
First of all, I will assume you got some kind of basic berry knowledge, I'll try and cover as much as possible with this guide but if you feel you don't know enough about berries yet imma leave you a link to basic berry guide:

With that said let's begin the guide, what is PP maxPP_mximos.png.253f3c318eb5b19764802d5cc624a78b.png and how to get it:

Spoiler

PP max is a consumable item that can be used to raise the max PP of a single move that a Pokémon knows as high as it can possibly go. This is helpful for PvP and even PvE.

Now, how to get it, you can buy it from the GTL or find it thru the storyline but we ain't here for that so let's talk about how to craft it ourselves.
The answer is simple go to the PokeCenter of the E4 in any region. Then there will be a vendor where you can trade 24 berry powder
Berry-Powder-sprite.png.8fbc3c1a4635c851e8d3b0a26ab632e4.png and 3 white herbsHierba_blanca.png.c6d0b8d98ee04df9d2049aa183b71d55.png in exchange for 1 PP maxPP_mximos.png.253f3c318eb5b19764802d5cc624a78b.png. We'll get on how to get those later.

So now that u know how to craft it let's talk about how to get each of the components we need for the craft
We're gonna start with the much simpler and easier to get one:

Spoiler

You can buy white herbs in exchange for BP(Battle Points) on the following shops:

Or you can just buy it off the GTL.
I'll tell you the difference later when we break down the prices so for now let's stick to how to get the BP.

How to get battle points:

Spoiler

You can get BP from either PvP and PvE, you decide which one suits you better.

For the PvP method just hop on some ranked PvP matches and you'll be awarded BP either if you win or you lose, if you win you get more BP and if you lose you'll still get some points but careful, if you lose too many matches in a row you'll have to win matches to get the losing points again. The other pvp method is battling players that are currently holding a legendary PvP mon, winning and fighting and winning battles against challengers.

For the PvE method you'll be awarded BP for defeating Red on Mt.Silver, but you'll need to have all the E4 beaten and the complete national Pokedex. You'll also be awarded BP for winning against the E4 the first time and same thing if you rebattle them.

If you're looking for an in-depth guide for BP I'll leave you this guide:

Spoiler

Berry powder is easy to get, you have a berry and you crush it, easy; the hard job is to produce the berries that you're going to crush.

Go on your bag and click on the berry you want to crush, have in mind that currently you can't crush more than 127 berries at a time so just crush 127 by 127 each time.

Now we going to get into the actual berry farm, we'll cover which berries to plant, when to water, and when to pick up.

These are the berries we're going to be planting for max profit:

Spoiler

We want to plant those berries that give us 10-13 yield or 11-13 yield, so this would be the complete list of those berries and the seed combination:

You decide which one you wanna plant, but take into consideration depending on the seed prices on the GTL some are more profitable than others, this time we're going to plant Liechi berries.

Quick note, you can check my custom strings for a faster interaction, but these strings are not beginner friendly so use at you own risk:

Berry planting and watering:

Spoiler

Before doing anything take into account these berries are watered every 12h irl time so choose a suitable moment for you to plant them. For example I will plant them 11am so i will have to water every 12h, that means I have to come back to water at 11pm, then next day 11am again etc..  you decide when to plant them so you know you'll be able to water them in time, it's roughly a 3 day process so make sure you'll be able to come back and water them for maximum profit.

We're going to buy 156 of each seed we need, this time we're going with Liechi BerryLiechi-Berry-sprite.png.72cf80dcb963d3a5cd916a67093f91bf.png so we'll need 156 very spicyVery-Spicy-Seed-sprite.png.b0205fb4ec009c2fdcd44df7b4992738.png, 156 very sweetVery-Sweet-Seed-sprite.png.cea7f2cb68b050cad9cc122498d8b1d1.png and 156 plain dryPlain-Dry-Seed-sprite.png.905376a4c7da92442e923b9bc56ad8da.png and plant them on the Mistralton City airport field and Abundant Shrine, these berries are 67h berries so we will water them as soon as we plant them. It should look something like this:

image.thumb.png.7e6f1795483c0f973056b79cf922732d.pngimage.thumb.png.8be3d37824ff29820f65704555463caf.png

Plant the entire sanctuary, the images are just an example.

After you're done planting and watering for the first time they should have 5 drops just like it's shown on the images and you'll be free to go and do whatever you want until 12h are passed.

In my case I planted at 11am so I'll have to water again at 11pm, and so on for approximately 3 days. If you don't have time to water exactly at that time you can water up to 2h later but after that it will starting to lose yield after every hour passed after those 2h so make sure you have chosen a right time to plant.

Imagine I planted Monday 11am, these berries take 2 days and 19h to grow up so I would have to water them every 12h and pick them up thursday at 6am, but don't worry you don't have to pick them up instantly, these berries wilt in 8h after they're done so I would have time until 2pm to pick them up.

This is an example, take the hours and times and adapt them to the time you planted and watered them.

Now that we covered the hard work it's time to harvest those deserved berries and crush all of them unless you wanna keep some for PvP or something.

How many herbs will I need approx?

Spoiler

You need 3 herbs for every 24 berry powder so just make a rule of 3 with the amount of berry powder you got. Let's say i got an average of 11 berries per plant, in total I would have 1716 berries to crush, turn them into powder and make the rule of 3.  (1716x3)/24. So to sum it up take the powder amount, multiply by 3 and divide by 24 and you'll get the herb amount you need. If you don't remember this or you're lazy like me look for an online rule of 3 calculator. So based on that I'll need 214~ herbs for this time.

Time to turn the bad bois into PP max:

Spoiler

Like mentioned before we'll go to the E4 in Unova for example to the vendor on the right and make sure you bought the herbs either from NPCs or the GTL and the berry powder and trade the max amount of PP max, make sure it's PP max and not PP up, it's easier to mess up than it seems so be careful.

These are all the location for the E4 vendors:

Now just sell them or keep them for yourself if that's what you please.

Now that we know how to make the entire process it's time to talk about real numbers.

How much does it cost to produce/how much pokeyen I need to get started:

Spoiler

It's hard to give exact numbers because GTL is something that changes everyday but I'll try and be as accurate as I can with the approx numbers.

First of all the seed cost. You have to chose which berry you wanna farm, right now as it is Liechi is the cheapest to grow but things can change in the future so I'll give the approx numbers for Liechi berries.

Liechi-Berry-sprite.png.72cf80dcb963d3a5cd916a67093f91bf.pngBerry seed cost:

x156 Very SpicyVery-Spicy-Seed-sprite.png.b0205fb4ec009c2fdcd44df7b4992738.png seed 1.8k~ per seed - 288k in total

x156 Very SweetVery-Sweet-Seed-sprite.png.cea7f2cb68b050cad9cc122498d8b1d1.png seed 1.6k~ per seed - 262k in total

x156 Plain dryPlain-Dry-Seed-sprite.png.905376a4c7da92442e923b9bc56ad8da.png seed 780~ per seed - 121k in total

Total investment for seeds: 671k

I left this topic for the end because it depends on your playstyle entirely so you decide.

If you play PvP and regularly farm E4 and beat red weekly you'll have to make no further investment on white herbs. However, I'm going to cover the herb price as well because not all people like PvP, just don't have time for farming E4 or whatever reason.

I'll take the example I mentioned before because it's an average thing and it's easier this way so lets say I got 1.7k berries and needed 214 white herbs.

Hierba_blanca.png.c6d0b8d98ee04df9d2049aa183b71d55.pngWhite herb cost:

x214 white herbs 1.3k~ per herb - 288k in total

And now for the big question, how much will I be earning?

Spoiler

And the answer is it depends on whether you decided to buy the herbs or not, either are profitable but one is more than the other for obvious reasons so we'll make math for both.

Again, taking as an example the numbers mentioned before, 1.7k berries, we should get around 70 PP max, which usually sell around 20k a piece so lets make the magic.

Without buying the herbs off the GTL:

70 PP maxPP_mximos.png.253f3c318eb5b19764802d5cc624a78b.png sold for 23,5k a piece - 1.65m

Total seed cost - 671k

Total clean benefit: 979k

Buying the herbs off the GTL:

70 PP max sold for 23,5k a piece - 1.65m

Total seed cost - 671k

Total herbs cost - 288k

Total clean benefit - 691k

Obviously this math is not extremely accurate because GTL price change and you can mix and match, sometimes you do some E4 or red, or maybe some PvPs and you get some BP so you decide at the end of the day, you can farm BP while your berries are growing so you wont have to spend that much on herbs at the end.

Also, very important to take into account the berry amount is purely an example, if you are lucky and get max yield out of every plant you would make almost 1.7m, ofc this is an exageration but it's an example to show that these numbers are not absolute.

With all that said, hope it helped, you learnt something new or you enjoyed it, if you still got any questions feel free to post your doubt and I'll be glad to help.

Happy farming, Ted is out for now ^^.
