[Tutorial] How to use Reshade on PokeMMO!

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody, I recently discovered how to get the latest version of Reshade fully working with PokeMMO, and it's way easier than you would think. I'd like to share the following steps so you all can enjoy Reshade on PokeMMO as well!

Step 1. Download a Reshade installer from reshade.me (Doesn't matter which one as long as it supports OpenGL)

Step 2. Run the installer, and for the first step you should navigate to your 'PokeMMO\jre\bin' and you should select 'javaw.exe' for the game/application.

Step 3. Select 'OpenGL' for the rendering API (and make sure this is your setting in PokeMMO as well. Do not use the angle API for this)

Step 4. Proceed through the install sequence, and install any effects you would like. (It is highly recommended to leave at least the standard effects and SweetFX enabled if you plan on using the provided reshade preset below.) Allow Reshade to fully install and proceed.

Step 5. Open PokeMMO and you will see the text telling you Reshade is fully installed. Press HOME to configure your profiles/presets, and enjoy Reshade on PokeMMO!

There are lots of different Reshade fx coded to do many different things. For example, there's color correction, HDR, sharpening, better (depending on which) antialiasing methods, and tons upon tons of post processing stuff like bloom. I've been having a blast finding new shaders and messing with it. I've been testing with Johto (a 2d region) and everything has been working correctly, so you should be good to go on that front.
