Advanced Leppa Planting Guide

Recommended Posts

TLDR: The optimal ratio of Rawst/Pecha/Cheri/Leppa plants needed to self-sustain a leppa farm is 1 : 1 : 1.85 : 2.5 or

15.74% : 15.74% : 29.15% : 39.36%. We can expect to make 870k a day with 6 characters at mistralton and abundant (936 plots).

Preface

This guide is meant to analyze the optimal berry planting distribution needed to self-sustain a leppa farm. This is not a hand-holding guide and I will not walk you through every step of how berries are farmed. There will be no discussion of strings, hotkeys, or speedrunning accounts to mistralton/abundant.
Basic Information

This guide will be using Rawst, Pecha, and Cheri berries to obtain the seeds needed for planting leppas. In order to proceed with our calculations, we must establish some base values to work with. Surprisingly, there is very little documentation on some of this information.

Rawst/Pecha/Cheri yield (Berries/plant)                 : 4.5
Leppa yield                       (Berries/plant)                 : 6.0

Rawst cost                          (Seeds/plant)                 : 1x Very Bitter seeds, 1x Plain Bitter seeds

Pecha cost                          (Seeds/plant)                 : 1x Very Sweet seeds, 1x Plain Sweet seeds

Cheri cost                           (Seeds/plant)                 : 3x Plain Spicy seeds

Leppa cost                          (Seeds/plant)                 : 1x (Very or Plain) Bitter seeds, 1x (Very or Plain) Sweet seeds, 1x Very Spicy seeds

In the future when I write "Bitter seed" or "Sweet seed" without the Very/Plain prefix, it means either seed can be used.

Very Bitter/Sweet/Spicy seed yield  (seeds/berry) : 0.3

Plain Bitter/Sweet/Spicy seed yield (seeds/berry) : 0.7

Leppa sell price (pokeyen/berry)                             : 800

Harvesting tool price (pokeyen/tool)                      : 350

Note that the leppa sell price can vary. The rest of these values will not. You may use different leppa sell prices in your own calculations.

Calculations

Seed Yield

  • Rawst plants cost 1 very bitter seed and 1 plain bitter.

Our gross seed yield for one Rawst plant is:

    1 (one plant) * 4.5 (berries/plant) * .30 (Very seed yield) = 1.35 Very bitter seeds

    1 (one plant) * 4.5 (berries/plant) * .70 (Plain seed yield) = 3.15 Plain bitter seeds

We can also calculate the net seed yield for one Rawst plant:

    1.35 - 1 = 0.35 Very Bitter seeds

    3.15 - 1 = 2.15 Plain Bitter seeds

    or

    2.5 Bitter seeds

  • Pecha plants are completely identical to Rawst plants, except for the fact that they use Very Sweet and Plain Sweet seeds instead.

Thus the net seed yield for one Pecha plant is:

    0.35 Very Sweet seeds

    2.15 plain Sweet seeds

    or

    2.5 Sweet seeds

  • Cheri plants cost 3 plain spicy seeds.

Our gross seed yield for one Cheri plant is:

    1 (one plant) * 4.5 (berries/plant) * .30 (Very seed yield) = 1.35 Very spicy seeds

    1 (one plant) * 4.5 (berries/plant) * .70 (Plain seed yield) = 3.15 Plain Spicy seeds

We can calculate the net seed yield for one Cheri plant:

    1.35 - 0 = 1.35 Very Spicy seeds

    3.15 - 3 = 0.15 Plain Spicy seeds

  • Leppa plants cost 1 Bitter seed, and 1 Sweet seed, 1 Very Spicy seed, and do not produce any seeds.

Thus the net seed yield for one Leppa plant is:

    -1 Bitter seeds

    -1 Sweet seeds

    -1 Very Spicy seeds

Ratio Calculation

The objective of this guide is to find the optimal ratio of Rawst/Cheri/Pecha/Leppa plants to grow. To grow one leppa, we need to produce a net seed ratio of:

1 Bitter : 1 sweet : 1 Very Spicy

Let us begin by planting 1 of each seed plant:

1 Rawst Plant : 1 Pecha Plant : 1 Cheri Plant

2.5 Bitter seeds : 2.5 Sweet seeds : 1.35 Very Spicy seeds

Simple. Since we are already producing the same amount of Bitter and Sweet seeds, let's just plant more Cheri plants so we can produce enough Very Spicy seeds to match the others. Divide 2.5 by 1.35 to get 1.85185. We can plant 1.85185 Cheri plants to receive 2.5 Spicy seeds. This gives the following ratios:

1 Rawst Plant : 1 Pecha Plant : 1.85 Cheri Plant

2.5 Bitter seeds : 2.5 Sweet seeds : 2.5 Very Spicy seeds

Now, this means we will be producing 2.5 of each seed from these plants. We need to actually spend these seeds to make leppas. Since we have 2.5 of each seed, we can afford to plant 2.5 leppa plants. Our final ratios are:

1 Rawst Plant : 1 Pecha Plant : 1.85 Cheri Plant : 2.5 Leppa Plant

0 Bitter seeds : 0 Sweet seeds : 0 Very Spicy seeds.

Note that our net seed yield is 0. This means we are planting as many Leppas as possible, and we are not producing any excess (inefficient) seeds.

We can also convert our plant ratio to percentages, as it is helpful for future calculations:

15.74344% Rawst : 15.74344% Pecha : 29.15452% Cheri 39.35860% Leppa

Profit Breakdown

We can calculate the profit per plot with the following equation:

(harvesting tool cost) * (berry yield for Rawst/Pecha/Cheri) * (% Rawst Plants + % Pecha plants + % Cheri Plants) + (leppa sell price) * (berry yield for leppa) * (% Leppa plants) = (profit per plot per day)

Substitute in our values:

-350 * 4.5 * (15.74% + 15.74% + 29.15%) + 800 * 6 * 39.36% = 934

This gives a profit of 934 pokeyen per plot per day. For example, using 6 characters with both mistralton and abundant unlocked, we get:

936 plots * 934 profit/plot = 874224 profit per day.

aye not a bad guide on the cost, in my guide i never really dove too deep into this part. good job! i only have 3 character all of unova and the 2nd acc i only have mistralton but i plan on getting those 3 to abundant soon. really really dig the depth of the price and profit breakdown and youre basically right on point.

but if anyone wants an indepth guide on how to go about this leppa farm:
but this price break down that Watermeloans did is absolutely on point which i did not go into depth about so very well done, Watermeloans im going to post this link in my guide if anyone would like this price break down. i love it.
