To fix your little issue, legally, you have to rip the rom out of the cartridge. That is the only legitimate way to play.

When it says "cannot find a valid rom" you must acquire a valid FireRed rom. Go to the link and follow the instructions ProfessorElderberry linked and it should work for you.
