Call of Duty: Ghosts stands in the MLG Spotlight

The Call of Duty eSports scene is about to change, that we know for certain. For better or worse, we have to wait until the latest MLG event to find out. The latest Call of Duty title "Ghosts" will call MLG Columbus, home on November 22nd through the 25th. With $50,000 of prize money for the winners at stake, it's no wonder there are huge names competing for the first place spot. Along with the prize money, the winning team will also earn the  bragging rights of being the first champions on a game that earned over $1 Billion dollars through retailers.

A hot topic within the community is the seemingly lack of eSports-oriented support on release day. Infinity Ward plans to correct this by revealing and implementing what they call "Broadcaster Mode". Similar to “CODcasting” in Black Ops 2, it is supposed to streamline the broadcast process of private matches to an online audience. Another feature they plan on showing during the event is the feature that allows you to enable "#CODeSports" Settings. This brings about significant changes to the rules and what is allowed within the competitive circuit. You can view the full ruleset to be used at MLG Columbus here.

MLG Columbus opens their doors on the 22nd of November and lasts the entire weekend, culminating with the final matches being played on "Championship Sunday". 96 teams are attempting to climb their way to the top spot through the open bracket. With so many teams and such a wide variety of skill levels, the competition is sure to be fierce, as the top 12 teams have the chance to play against the top eight teams in the world. With so much at stake, performing well in the open bracket is a must for teams that wish to get their name out into the spotlight and help grow the Call of Duty eSports scene.

The teams competing in the open bracket face some very tough competition from the Top 8 teams in the world: compLexity Gaming, UNiTE Gaming, Curse LV, Optic Gaming, EnVyUs, KaLiBeR, Kelevra Fuse, and FaZe Competitive. All of these groups of players have built a name for themselves and have only one thing on their mind, earning first place, and taking that $50,000 back home with them. Nobody can say for certain who will win this event, with so much talent playing in the Open Bracket, add in the fact that there have been countless roster changes with some of the big name teams, it seems as if the 1st place prize could go to anyone.

MLG Columbus 2013 is sure to be an exciting event for the Call of Duty Franchise. The action begins November 22nd and lasts all weekend long until Sunday, the 25th. You can watch all the matches live over at majorleaguegaming. After the weekend's events come back to [[blank]] to see detailed stats of the weekend's matches.
