I honestly dont mind either approach, but from a pure spectator and community standpoint I do believe that having a showdown tier adds something cool to psl: meme spectator names in the showdown chat, banter and allowing older players to participate in the event (I know they could just play mmo tiers instead but that'd require them to install the game again lmao and I love watching nik play showdown anyways) ' was a "showdown vs no showdown" poll ever made? just these two plain options? I believe the result would be different than the current one.

@Kyu Just to confirm, we are taking the showdown approach right? meaning we're getting rid of unranked and having a single (ranked) ladder per tier 24/7. I feel one of the biggest problems with ranked right now is that you can only queue up for it at certain hours while still having a normal games ladder that does nothing really, specially now that we're having seasonal resets and no fee for queueing I see no point in dividing our already small playerbase into two groups..

I'm sure we'll get those with 120bp outrage, steel type nerf and fairies right after (or at the same time) as HAs and legends, right now the powercreep could be too high but once we get all the other stuff I dont see why not have real knock off too

I mean they're adding gen8 mechanics and we're never getting gen8 as a whole (starters, etc) but they could make pokemon be the only exception and have everything else (moves, learnsets, items) that way it's less complicated for newer players while keeping the uniqueness of the generation mix (gen8 stuff with gen 5 pokemon)

@Kyu given how we are transitioning to the latest gen mechanics and learnsets, is there any chance that we get the latests items aswell? i.e, heavy duty boots, room service, etc. kind of like how we god "life ball" back in gen3 before life orb existed. Im obviously not taking about the soon to come patch but perhaps in a later one? It would make the game more consistent imo; right know it is a headche to build and for new players to understand the metagame because if you want to common guide sites like smogon you have to look up gen8 movesets but gen 5 items and typings, plus no has or legendaries... you get the point, it is truly a mess. the way I see it, we would eventually get all of these, right?

Anyways, round1 matches will always be bad regardless of the tier. the point was that more people play doubles even if they run their ou rain team, if anything thats just an adventage because it facilitates the transition of most players towards starting to play the tier

But they can sign up with the lvl 5 wild pokemon they catched in route 1. I get they can queue up with their ou teams but in most r1 matches you see hitmontop and actual dubs mons. Charmamder used acrobatics and didn't have flying gem so it was either itemless or it used 55bp acro and I honestly don't know which one would be worse..

Hey I killed my own volc with scarf peliper's surf in TT once... That being said, you cant compare these scenarios because obviosuly they're different formats and you cant hit your own pokemon in singles. I actually went and clicked on random r1 matches from the last dubs cc and It didnt look nearly as bad (as far as mons goes, play is atrocious obviosuly but that would apply to any random r1 match from any tier): you see a lot of hitmontop, followme toge and like, actual doubles pokemon. On the other hand... this itemless charmander (not even flying gem mind you) stayed on golett to set up sunny day, flamethrower and die not to earthquake but to drain punch... the charmander's guy only ground resist was gastly so ofcourse golett had a very good reason not to click eq and use a fighting move instead...

Wether they are using the correct builds or not, they are still playing. People could also use route's 1 wild pidgeys and rattatas to sign up for lc. In fact, this happens in every tier: Even in early rounds of ou tournaments you will find noobs running their charizard storyline teams. This for instance, is a r1 match of the most recent lc cc, ft. rattata. btw, the tournament only filled 24/32 slots. Meanwhile, the day before, the most recent dubs cc filled 64/64

Im pretty sold I kinda want to change my vote... but, the one thing I love about quick auctions tho is people going apeshit in the general discord chat (i.e, when cali and I went into a 70 credit battle for aurum). So the question then becomes: is trashtalking/shitposting allowed in the slow bidding thread? Also my quick 2 cents as to why quick auction might be winning so heavily. For once, slow as word sound boring even if it might be more hype than the quick format. I would't know that because I wasnt there for psl's 1 to 3. There's also the fact that one of the last psls had a draft instead of the classic auction and it was a snoozefest that failed misserably, people might feel like not running any further experiments and just stick to the devil they know (again, as most current players Id say werent here for early psls)

The forums hype for the update has come in a big part from the dubs community which is more active now than ever pls dont do us like that
