+1, not only because it eliminates the need to stare at the tv, but people who don't care enough to stare at the tv (like me) would still have a swarm checker. This should be a thing.

For those of you who don't know, November is "National Novel Writing Month". Anyone interested can checkout the site here.
Point being, I have 50,000 words to write starting in two days, and absolutely no idea what to write about, so for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to ask you all. Any ideas at all, it can be about anything.
That being said, try to keep it in the realm of reasonable.
Please and thanks!
I tried to check the code of conduct and make sure I was allowed to post that link, but the link in the "Off Topic Rules" thread was busted. That seems important, someone should look into that.
+1 Sounds helpful without being too much so. I think 31 should be the same as 20-30 though, so we can't just hatch pokemon until the stats we want are blue.
-
I think before we catch up to gen VI mechanics, we have to finish catching up to gen IV. A base stat modification to make certain pokemon not pure crap would be awesome, but I feel like if we're going to affect the meta-game with changes like this, it's important that we do it in order. The improved movepool, type split, and extra pokemon that have come since gen III might have made it necessary in X/Y, but we really can't know it's necessary in this until we get there, and we might end up with some very stupidly broken OP combos if we jump the gun.
- 1 for the time being, +1 for the future. -
They're still there, just 'invisible', so if you put something else there it won't erase them, just move them.
It's a known glitch, fixed by relogging. You'll get used to it, trust me.

+1, but I think the fee should be higher than a star piece actually sells for, so we still have some kind of motivation to use them. 7-10k or somethingOh wait, someone already said that

I've had this discussion with a couple people, and here's how I feel about it:
1) Linking items wouldn't really accomplish anything IMO. 9/10 people know what 11/10 items are, and it would just take the time you would have spent typing it to link it.
2) Linking pokemon from PC would be coolish, but also wouldn't make a whole lot of difference. The idea behind it was that it help us trade, and we can't trade from out PC, so... Also, you and I both know we don't want people to link a box full of abra and ask which one to use. -
So you're asking the devs to improve a feature not even implemented?
Yup. I get that it's kind of lame of me, but I thought it was a cool idea, and I know if I waited until dolls were out I'd forget. They're free to scrap this thread if they want.

+1 for giving rock smash more use than five minutes of story and a couple random items.
What if evolution stones were made more expensive in celadon market (without the sell price being affected) and part of the rock smash drops, so it looked something like this:
Fire/Water/Thunder Stones: 3% (not each, a second roll from the RNG could determine which stone)Star Dust: 2%
Star Piece/Nugget: 0.5%
Rock smash farming would be insanely easy with a repel active, So drop rates should either be extremely low or rocks nerfed to only respawn every couple hours. But you knew that.

This isn't so much a "This is cool and useful and should get done soon" as a "This would be sorta nifty in the far far future" but here I go anyway.
I'm assuming dolls will be implemented at one point(TM), you know, the ones for secret base decorating. I thought it would be really cool if they had the same 1/8192 chance to be shiny, so that the color scheme would (obviously) be different and we might (hopefully) be able to see it sparkle while it's on the map. They should also be tradable, 'cause fuck yeah shiny doll collecting.tl;dr, give us shiny dolls

This is another one of those ideas that I want to support, but just can't bring myself to do that. Don't get me wrong, the idea is great, 'cause there was a shiny espeon in trainer tower on my old fire red and I hated it forever. Here are my arguments though:
If it's intentional that NPCs sometimes have shinies, that seems fair to me. The RNG is a spiteful and malicious god, and will taunt us as it sees fit.
It it's unintentional, it'll get fixed someday(TM).
what if it were bugged to work with PvP in some way?
So much this. As far as I know, there isn't a very large distinction between npc and pvp battles, so it would probably be pretty tough to make it bug proof, and if it did bug out all hell would break loose.
tl;dr It's a good idea in theory, but it's risky, and it's a tweak in mechanics that I don't think would be necessary or significantly improve gameplay. -
Is it possible for the Mewtwo to respawn as a different build every time it goes wild again, or would that be virtually impossible?

Idea 2) Salary System: This one I'm having a tougher time coming up with the details of, originally I was thinking the game could give you $100 for every hour of game time you log, but on second thought that would be manipulated like hell and people would prob have their shit running for weeks, maybe there could be like a weekly quota for hours, example: log 10 hours by the end of the week (a regulated payday) and earn $1000
Your second idea is not feasible without riding the exploitability of it. I'd either toss the idea completely or remove it until you have it well thought out. Keep in mind there will always be someone in game hoping to exploit the system, whether it's for money gain or something else. Timed "salaries" is 100% exploitable via alt characters, as you have basically acknowledged.
What about a kind of trust fund? Once per month, your mom (or some poke-bank or something) puts 1,000 into an "account" with ~3% interest for each hour you're online.
IE 1 hour = 1,030
2 hours = 1,061
10 hours = 1,344
100 hours = 19,219
With a cap at about 155 hours = ~100k, 'cause it gets pretty out of hand at that point.
the formula for those who are interested is P(1+r/1)^n where P is the starting amount, r is the interest percent in decimal form, and n is the number of times interest is compounded

The "once per month" is a pretty important part, 'cause that makes it harder to abuse using alt characters, especially in combination with how many hours you have to be online to get a worth-while amount of money. Maybe it could even only available after beating the the tougher version of the E4 to further discourage making a bunch of alts for it.

I feel like this should be more of maybe a weekly/monthly thing where you only get 1 use per move tutor, but a week later they reset and you can use them all again, but it doesn't stack up.
+1 Why not give money another reason to have value? I like the weekly/monthly thing, But I feel like if it's going to be reoccurring and non-stacking it should be pretty hefty (although I have no idea what that is at the moment, as the economy is still adjusting).
Also, maybe certain move tutors cost more (double-edge and swords dance for example) than others (softboiled and dream eater)? -
I like the idea of keeping it to the battling system upstairs of the pc
Love this. That would give people a reason to use it too. +1
-
I love this idea. +1
How would it (hypothetically) work with breeding? Free pokeballs, or auto-fills the lowest grade non-masterball pokeball in your bag?
Edit: daycare guy gives you pokeball, you have to be responsible enough to save it for when the egg hatches? -
I searched "legend reward" and all it came up with was the legend thread, so I feel like this is hopefully a new post.
A small reward in poke-dollars, but not totally negligible, 2k Maybe, for winning a battle while you have a legend like mewtwo. That way there's more of a reason than just for kicks, 'cause if you're good you could rack up some money. However, I don't think this money should be taken from the loser. That would make some people not want to fight to have mewtwo at all.Edit, and maybe a higher amount of money for winning against someone who has a legend. 10k maybe. 'Cause wynaut?
Thoughts?
To prevent abuse, something likeEasy way to fix this, you can only battle the trainer once per mewtwo. What this means is that when you catch a mewtwo, ur friend battles you and wins it, then you battle him and win it, he then cant battle you again bc its the same mewtwo. When that mewtwo is released back into the wild you can battle each other again but that would require you to find him again for 2k each.

There was roulette in one of the pokemon games if I'm not mistaken, so the game seems pretty capable of supporting that. There was also a card game, I think it was back in GSC, so I don't remember all the fine details, but basically you bet on weather or not two cards would match. These would be pretty great ways to break up monotony of gambling, and roulette could function as a low odds/ high payout while the card game works the opposite.
Also, how do I change the title of the original post? I was thinking something more generalized about changing the casino to keep up with the economy
Unless the staff already have plans, in which case they could lock this and I'd have no hard feelings

Just realized there's been an entire thread for this since april. Sorry >.>

Short and sweet. Since money is so much harder to get, I think the cap for GC coins should be raised up to 3-5k, if not totally removed.

So if we toss every copy of pokemon x and y into a the pits of hell, the update will come sooner?
I support this suggestion. +1

+1, fishing is almost as uneventful in pokemon as in real life (inb4 hate)
What if this were similar to the concept of pokeblocks in the safari from RSE, baits with flavors that attract certain natures? No guarantee of course. Sounds like it would be complicated, but I'm just throwing it out there. -
Anything with more than four legs is pure evil, and must be destroyed. Spiders, moths, flies, centipedes, very strangely mutated ducks, all are forces of darkness and must be dealt with accordingly.
I know they aren't really that bad, but they're fucking scary
That being said, I don't like to kill them, but sacrifices must be made for the protection of our way of life.
Edited 'cause fail spoiler

I really want to support this, because I think it would honestly be great for the shiny market, not to fix mistakes, but simply to make them more tradable (like if I were to buy someone's shiny dnite but wanted dragonaire, for example).
But then I saw this:
There is no way this could be implemented without making certain moves be lost. Jolteon would become the most OP pokemon ever with a Starmie moveset, higher stats, and volt absorb. Also, coding it to delete moves like those upon de-volution sounds like a stupidly ridiculous amount of code. It sounds like a good plan on the surface, but I don't want to live in a world where eevee=uber.
