Well I'm a comp player so I need everytime new comps and if I can't breed easily or if I need to sac my breeders to hatch an egg , or even take the risk to sac some godlies breeder to hatch a shitty egg then yeah I don't have any reasons to stay there.
Wait until I get these mechanics down, or someone else does. Someone is gonna make a guide saying "This is how you breed" and everyones gonna git gud. If I happen to be the first one to get good at it, I'll make a guide as soon as I can lel. If not i'll just dedicate an insane amount of time to perfecting someone elses and we can all have godly comps again

I think this is not the breeding system we need right now. With 200 hours of play now i have like 40 Comps with great IVs moveset etc.. . How many players can make all this with this new system ? I don't really care ' cause i have still loads of UTs in the box but this isn't the point. It will lock the competitive play with always the same players that have like 3-4 Lax, 2 Skarm, 4 Gengar etc.. . Even with like good Iv wild pokes etc.. none will ever sell comps , I if i breed a great Starmie i'm gonna keep it for myself instead of selling it. This will also slow greatly the Hoenn Meta.
this is something that's bothering me too about this /nerf/ if it is a nerf. Honestly I think I could do better with this breed system than the other, but I'll just have to try it out and see.

I'm talking long term here, the game as a whole, these changes had to come sooner or later, just continuing the way it was would've been much worse, even if it means that certain players that already possess godly comps are now well off with the pokes they've bred before the comming update
Maybe the difference between people like you and me is that in my opinion pokemmo isn't just about PvP and winning against other players, I'm trying to see the big picture and I'm excited how the game evolvesexcept that now the people who were god tier at competitive play are going to win all the shinies (frags, im talking to you) because they are not only better, but have comps better than anything the newbs will have.
The average of 2 31s is 31. If you brace the stat on the first parent that is not 31 on the second, you end up with a 6x31.
implying im going to sacrifice my pre-update amazing breed for the sake of a 6x31kek I think not. Spluuuush is mine, I refuse to fuse it with some lesser tier wooper

There is a spot in Hoenn called 'Desert Underpass' where Ditto has an encounter rate of 50+%
I can imagine people are just gonna camp dittos from now on, as they're the safest investment with Fusion breeding. I dunno this seems interesting, if it doesn't turn out good just quit. I don't think the Devs would have taken so much time on it if they didn't feel it was at least somewhat fun.

The only way I can see this working "well" is if the wild pokemon have better iv's than just random. Cos right now those with old breeding comps have a huge advantage and those that latched onto them like leeches to borrow their breeders *cough* can no longer do so w/out losing their pokes. This has become a "single" player game rather than a team effort imo.
Also if something gets an egg move that needs to be transfered through more than 1 pokemon, its going to take a long time to get a good child with said egg move, should either make wild encounters have a chance to have a random egg move (like oras) or have an egg move tutor for money/ another colour shard.if a server wipe were to happen, it would become an independent game instead of a "hang out with the rich kids with a 6x31 in every group, or suck at this game. take your pick" game. if no server wipe, eh the downside to old comps is they'll never be able to get new eggmoves/natures without fusion, which takes a lot of risk. can't say if this is gonna be a good or bad update, but may the RNG be ever in our favor

I'm thrilled about the breeding changes, breeding pokes with perfect IV's and what not kind of ruined the game for me anyway, this balances the whole game perfectly and makes it so much more fun and worth playing
I like that I have a reason to go into tall grass again lol
I wonder if shiny values will drop because everyone is camping grassy areas -
- Storyline-given party members are now considered 'Gifts'.
- These party members may not be traded and may not be bred.
- This encompasses: Starters from trainer's respective region, NPC Trades, and freely obtained gifts (Lapras, Eevee, etc.)
darkshade said how this is gonna work over on my post, spread the knowledge \o/
- The entire Gift section. Does this mean it's going to be impossible to breed/get any kind of Eeveelution as they're considered gifts? The issue I see with this is that pokes that can't be copied means a low supply, and in the case of Eeveelutions and Aerodactyls a high demand. Are we just going to deal with whatever we get on our playthrough? The easiest fix I can see to this is an area where Gifted pokemon species were able to be caught fairly regularly. Swarms seem too unreliable, but it would bring more value to swarms than just praying for a good shiny.
That is a 'this point on' sort of thing.
Gift Pokemon now also have renewable sources.this means any pokes pre-update are fine, perfectly breedable and tradeable. anything gifted by say oak, untradeable and castrated. wild caught charmander, tradeable and breedable.
correct me if I'm wrong, but this is my understanding. -

Now this does sound pretty cool in regards to breeding for hidden power. To be honest, I won't mind the more mathematical approach to being successful in regards to the new breeding process, however I'm sure a lot of other players will unfortunately.
I already got super complex into my breeding when I was going for 6x31 wooper from near scratch, so this is second nature to me. I like the idea of actually having to have some skill to breed. NO MORE 10 YEAR OLD BREEDERS \o/
also darkshade server wipe pls to make it fair -

I didn't talk about that but what about the pokemons like metagross ? As it was said they are stuff given in the story. Then we won't be able to trade them or to breed them. Will only very lucky players (or extrem scrubers with rerolls lol) be able to use them as comps and beat everyone ?
EDIT : maybe something to do with swarms
I kinda touched up on the idea that a flag will be set on "Gifted" pokes, and only that poke. This means previously owned pokes that you got pre-update will be unaffected and be tradeable. I DO NOT know if this is how it is gonna be, but it seems to be the most logical way to do this so that you don't screw anyone with a /gifted/ shiny or comp.

well i might ve been wrong, if you read this again:
IV inheritance has been rebalanced; 3/6 IVs will be directly passed to the child from either parent. 3/6 IVs will be averaged from the parents' stats. These are decided randomly unless a consumable held item is given to either parent.
with that formula you could make sure what hiddenpower the baby gets, if you do it right?
or am i mistaken?
just gotta make sure how average iv scale up/down, calc it and that should do the trick.
and you can still sacrifice that wooper 1 day to make a god comp.
spluuush is already a god tier comp
but I mean if you can choose the IVs it /could/ make it easier, but this is getting way to mathematical for me. My IQ and problem solving skills are gonna skyrocket if I breed for long enough lol. The new breeding mechanic is probably gonna be all complex math to try and predict. Also how much are these new consumable items gonna cost? inb4 everstones are sold from a shop -
As it was said, this system wants to be fair but it won't be. People are going to save their godlies, and noobs won't be able to win with semi catch pokemons. Also, players who have lots of breeders may are going to use one sometimes to do a very good comp with the items needed. Then only thoses players will have the new godlies and beat noobs.
I call for a server wipe so rich people can't stay rich, and instead they can just quit \o/

yea hiddenpower worries me, i mean people like forfiter got kinda screwed over on this update, its not like hes gonna sacrifice his sickass hp flying breeder in the hopes the offspring will have hp flying to.
and lel i'm not mad, just some concerns but i think thats normal.
im happy I sold my hp flying breeder. I had a 5x30 31 speed lotad that I bred that I was gonna use to breed dratini, but some random guy asked me for it and said he'd pay 1m for it. I feel sorry for all the guys that are getting screwed by this, but the only thing im sad about is I'll never finish breeding a 6x31 lotad that I was gonna use to make a 6x31 swampert with :'c
still got 4x31 2x30 wooper though, not sure what I'm gonna do with that lol. Novelty item I guess. -
From a love of pokemon and wild catching of pokemon ( you have seen my slowbro daft, you know what I am talkin bout) I think I will enjoy it, up too a point. I can see it getting painfully tedius very quickly. But we shall see... this is about what we are thankful for!
I can finally get that Sceptile I have been wanting so badly \○/lol you got a headstart, I don't even know how to catch pokemon \o/
my nugget is gonna be worth 5m eventually, smeargles are gonna be rare after everyones used them for Field Eggmoves and spore+fswipe is gonna be the new best thing -
haha no need to take it out, i was just fooling around mostly.
its a bit early to tell since i havent played it yet, but i have some concerns
ofc the other stuff like cheaper vitamins & no limit, rainfix, focusfix and stuff is nice, but breeding is a huge element to the game/trade/economy/comp scene and im afraid they might have fucked it up, but hey maybe it works out, time will tell.
edit: also DS confirmed wild storyline encounters (like eevee), but no details on how to find them, so thats cool i guess, kinda weird you can't trade the old ones anymore, good for the shiny owners.
wasn't sure how angry you'd be over this, but it's nice to see you're keeping an open mind about it lel
all the fixes are great, but I share the same concerns about Hidden Power. As someone who really just hoped for the best in this category, I can't say much about it though.
also from my understanding, the "untrade-able" thing will probably be a flag set on newly obtained "Gift" pokemon and only set on the poke that was gifted. Hopefully this flag wont be placed on existing comps/shinies.
Daft opinions on Hoenn/breeding as well as some questions, and thanks to the Devs.
in Trash
so breeding was buffed in the sense that if you stick 2 6x31s in the fusion chamber you're guaranteed to get a 6x31, but nerfed so that it'd cost 2 of them to do it and only makes one. This actually seems like a pretty decent balance, I dont see the market getting flooded so quickly this time because there's a pokemon sink. Now the race to be the first one to become a god tier Hoenn breeder is on, I'll begin my research c':
