1. Certainly what I would recommend to someone with experience and knowledge of the tier. Look at the Pokemon, usage statistics, and your personal play style, groove on from there. That however, is not terribly helpful when you have no idea where to even start. 6 Offensive Sweeper/Wallbreakers can be amazingly effective, but you have to know the exact synergy of what counters who, how to predict those threats, and that your play style meshes with that. I tend to think constructing a team from the baseline roles is a good starting point for those who really don't know how comp Pokemon plays. That being said, never expect an opponent to do that when you are starting out. You should look at all threats to your team in the tier equally, and know full well you might see all of them staring you in the face one match.
2. The biggest thing to think about, is to know your threats. A good starting point is: Physical Sweeper / Special Sweeper / Wall Breaker / Special Wall / Physical Wall / Annoyer From there look at your threats. Are you weak to grass? What threats in the tier are strong grass users? What can you use to answer that threat? Reform your team based on that information. Look again, repeat. As you start refining, you may find that, for example, there are not a lot of physical threats that the rest of your team does not check or counter. In this case, you don't really need a Physical wall. Go through the process a few times. Next, try to get some of your teammates to battle you on Pokemon Showdown. It is a good way for you to get a feel for how the team flows and you may find some threats you didn't consider. It is also good for seeing if you like the way it plays. There have been a few times I have made a solid team, and found that I don't really like the feel or flow of it. As mentioned in Orange's guide, don't stay too long on the paper side of things. Get your hands dirty too, but with the costs of breeding, it is important to make sure everything will mostly work out. Anyway, good luck to you! Addendum; The Pokemon Roles Physical/Special Sweepers: Pokemon that just damage. Either with a little setup, or a Choice Band, these pokes can rip holes. However, they are generally weak to dedicated walls, built to counter them. Wallbreaker: This is a bit of a loose term. Basically, anything that can take down the primary threatening walls. They are often Mixed (Special and Physical Moves), but it really depends on what you are dealing with. For example, if you find that you are being walled hard by Swallot and Muk, you might consider a Mixed Metang. Kind of a poor example there, but they can be Sweepers as well, they are just meant to take down the wall that ails you. Ninja'd but much faster. Deffo read what Robo posted
3. ^ Berries and PokeBlocks for just the things lacking in stock Hoenn. Also, before any further progress is made in other regions, things like full Gen 4 move lists, abilities, and items should be considered. We are just way to far off from another region, it is silly to speculate.
4. Hey man, just wanted to let you know that my unofficial was slated the same day, and it was posted considerably before this.
5. I really like the entrance to Ever Grande City. Fishing at the waterfall is relaxing.
6. There is way too much for there to be implemented to even consider any other region. Pointless to even speculate. The real question that I am curious about is, why is everyone all up on this? With fully completed Hoenn and Kanto regions, there is a lot to do, with pretty much all the Gen 3 Pokemon available. What is so exciting about another map to grind through?
7. Randoms... Has an Entei and Xerneas. Still lets me win with a Mr. Mime http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/randombattle-270527363
8. Moving it back to Monday, so as not to conflict with Grey's Tourny
9. Dayum, you posted while I was posting :( Mayhap we could work something out so times don't clash, I will look at my schedule. . Edit: Moved mine to the 21st IGN: BenGorgon >.>

11. Again, your lack of insight into engaging gameplay shows quite clearly. Just about every MMO that includes PvP has a system of rewards for those that participate. I keep bringing up World of Warcraft, I know, but it is the most successful MMO in history, so they have to be doing something right to engage so many players, for such long periods of time. Anyway, in WoW, as you PvP, you gain points that can be spent on a set list of gear and trinkets, mostly to help you continue to PvP without breaking away to grind through, just so you can go back to PvP again. I think a system closer to that, instead of raw yen, would be a good idea. A point system, similar to BP, that allows you to purchase TMs, Vitamins, and Battle Items. It could be converted to yen buy the second degree, but is not directly for making money, rather allowing you to continue to PvP rather than break engagement to go do something else.
12. Read back through, and if you have the time and patience to spend all day doing the same task, grinding for hours straight, for sub-par Pokemon, more power too you. Many more of us want to play an enjoyable game. The current methods for making money are not enjoyable, that is the bottom line. There are plenty of ways, with some very good examples in this thread, of making the economy an enjoyable entity to interact with. The current ratio of maximum 100k an hour does not necessarily need to change imo. The methods of attaining that 100k an hour need to be fixed dramatically. Also consider that with breeding costs quite high, and Yen progression at its' current stage, will will continue to see the same stagnate meta for increasingly extended periods of time. This adds another layer of repetition to the game, one that will degrade the player base over time. Engagement and entertainment are the key issues here, and I am personally having a hard time maintaining either.
13. I have not had a huge problem selling Ditto and everstones, but that is about where any income ends. That was exactly the point I was making above. Pointing out the primary ways money could be made, and why it is not.
14. It is much more than just reducing/eliminating the cool-down on the VS. Seeker. All the current methods of making money are tedious, and do not lend themselves to involved game play. Reducing cool-downs is fine in the short term, but I think someone should take a serious look at fun and involved ways to make money. Real quick, here are the methods at present, and what I see as the issue with each: BF Farming: Probably the most fun, involved, and interesting. Requires skill and attention. However, since the average person who would buy BP is just as broke as everyone else, why buy it when you can farm it yourself? What is worse, if you can not farm it yourself, you probably don't even need it. VS. Seeking: Boring, repetitive, and on a 6 hour cool-down. There really is nothing fun about running 5-7 Islands (or all of them like me) every day. It is worse then something like WoW dailies, which while are a little tedious, provide a substantial enough boon and are varied enough to be interesting. Paydaying: All well fine and good if you are EVing low level pokes, but seriously.... This is the most boring thing in this game. Low payouts, repetitive game play, and no involvement for the player. Shard Hunting: See BF farming, except not quite as fun. Ditto Hunting and Everstone Farming: A little higher on the likelihood to sell, but much lower on the amount of attention required, and fun to be had. I know the balance between sinks and wells is tenuous, but we have defiantly fallen on the wrong side of sinks imo. Something like WoW dailies would be very nice. Once a day, you talk to an NPC, they task you to find an item, specific pokemon, or some other task. The NPC gives you are recurring, increasing payout daily. This will help increase retention and attention imo.
15. So not a tier, just listing in the Pokedex "NCQ" (Not Competitively Qualified). There is a fair difference there, between an annotation in the pokedex to tidy things up, and making a tier of it.
16. That is literally what this guide is. As a nice bonus, it has movesets and EV spreads for those that are new or unsure how they want to raise their pokes.
17. If that is the case, I disagree with the idea. A tier where the low usage NU pokemon end up? I like that, as it adds more options for varied styles of play, and the inclusion of niche pokemon that would only see the light of day occasionally. (LF Tier where Persian is viable) That being said, I do agree with DrCraig that a "tier" designed simply to eek out what pokemon are not usable in NU would be unnecessary hand holding. As mentioned, there are plenty of resources avalible to any player to find what is in high usage and what every usable pokemon in the tier can do. Edit: This would also encourage the usage fallacy, where especially new players consider any poke not high on the usage table to complete crap.
18. Actually would be more like RU (Rarely Used) and NU (Never Used), where RU is what our current NU is, and NU is truely the never used pokemon. RU Description
RarelyUsed, or RU, is the tier that contains all of the Pokémon that are just short of UU in terms of the required usage amount, which equates to a 50% chance of encountering the Pokémon in UU in 20 battles. These Pokémon can still be used in UU, and a lot of them are actually quite powerful as well, but they simply aren't used enough for them to change their tier placement.
Would be very helpful imo, and add more diversity to play styles and tiers.
19. Double Battles here too. Metagross CB / Kingdra / Jolt (Protect) / Ludicolo Rain is pretty nice for BF imo. Takes very little setup and clears up party weakness.
