  1. To have a fraxure going up against a haxorus? It goes last and dies in 1 hit ...
  2. Iris has lvl 43 pokes that have very few counters, many aren't even catchable (her haxorus is ridiculous). I got a couple new friends and they both got walled here and literally stopped playing out of frustration. The level cap is too low. Unova only has a couple ice users and they're slow and terrible. You should not have to buy pokes from outside the game's meta to beat a gym leader simply because of an arbitrary level cap. When I did it myself I had to pull in a Gyarados with ice fang from another generation just to deal with her.
  3. The meta is always wildly different than the games, but I'm very confused here. Has all the community with brains left? Volcanora is an Uber. Scizor is an Uber. Salamence is an Uber. Hydreigon is an Uber. Tyranitar is an Uber. Ferrorthorn is an Uber. Pelipper being in the same party as ferrorthorn or Scizor should be banned in general. This balancing is incredibly disappointing. Devs got real balls thinking they have created the best roster in Pokemon history and this is all balanced enough to be legal. It's not. Make an Uber pool and make it rewarding, people will still play ou. This currently balls.
  4. Sept 2012 here as well. Lol I show up to this game every couple months wondering why i quit, look at the meta... Still just boring uncompetitive entry hazard cheese and rng nonsense. Leave for more months. This game should have legacy pvp/tournaments because I honestly find the new metas much much worse than the old ones. The best days of this game were when they were just getting away from the gen3 battle mechanics. Didn't even need all the battle animations.
  5. I was merely offering an incomplete example, getting more specific seemed a little pointless as the devs are going to work with the suggestion on their own if they do decide to implement something like this, but yes I would say working NU, OU and LC into it would be appropriate.
  6. Honestly anything that inspires more UU/NU traffic is something I would be behind. I'm not sure that making it not possible to play the other tiers on certain days would work as well as a BP increase/decrease incentive, though. So either -50% BP on days that the tier is not represented. Say UU mondays, wednesdays, fridays; so -50% for OU on mondays etc.. Or do the opposite and increase the BP for the represented tier, but I think that screws with the economy a little more. Another option could be to compromise and do -/+25% or so. So 625 BP for on-tier and 375 for off-tier.
  7. It's no shock that the only queue that fills up in this game is OU. It would be nice to see other tiers fill up from time to time. Perhaps having a few set days a week where BP is increased, as in sUUnday, tUUesday, thUUrsday.
  8. Well that scizor gonna win anyways +2 252+ Atk Life Orb Scizor Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowking: 309-365 (78.4 - 92.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery Similarly un-ideal with azu bold or not 252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowking: 198-234 (50.2 - 59.3%) -- 80.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery So the original setup came down to manectric 252 SpA Life Orb Manectric Thunderbolt vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ SpD Slowking: 151-179 (38.3 - 45.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery And the bold suggestion is mainly for the flareon? 252+ Atk Choice Band Flareon Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowking: 179-211 (45.4 - 53.5%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery So yea actually I dono when i was supposing the 156/100 split i wasnt rly accounting for all the life orb/choice bands
  9. Thanks for the comments guys it looks as though I can adjust my EVs to 156Def/100SpD to make it possible to switch him in on scizor/tenta sd and win
  10. Seems like choiceband/lifeorb flareon and azumarill still beat bold slowking, though. Woul definitely make a difference on scizor, though, which is important.
  11. Ah, I see what he's saying now. I thought he was saying cradily was more of a threat to slowking and thats why he needed bold. An yes calm with SpD EVs changes manectric tbolt from 2hko to 3hko, but yes obviously not with life orb.
  12. Because I have no indication that stating for Def really does anything other than really a cradily bullet seed, which im not sure is very common. I know there are 2 common UU pokemon who it would make a difference to stat for SpD. Statting Def is not going to save my slowking from a kang by any means. Most of the time when I predict an electric move I'm going to be switching in to steelix, but in the case against manectric tat's unwise considering he will certainly have flamethrower. I think it's better that my special wall/setup sweeper can set up on him and deal with it himself; I'm sure most people running manectric would not be used to not being able to deal with slowking on the first 2 turns.
  13. The SpD is there specifically to not be 2hKO'd by manectric Tbolt or vileplume Giga drain. Bold with full Def IVs do not save him from kangaskhan's double edge or miltank. Other threats I havent looked much into because I'm unaware of how common most pokes are in UU battles but I assume these are some of the more common ones I should be prepared for.
  14. Had not considered knock off for shuckle, will probably en up going with that. I personally prefer wrap to encore as much of the time they are just going to switch in and blast him with a surf or a taunt anyways and wrap has that little bit of extra damage per turn and more PP. I never really considered steelix's attack stats and I'm not sure I gave him enough to be that deadly with EQ with only 48 attack EVs; it seems that the sand tomb/rollout combo i had set up for him isn't working so well, though. Every time I use steelix I'm less than happy about him, but he seems like an essential to switch in for pretty much anything that would kill my slowking so I would like to find a moveset that works for him. I'm not sure tentacruel is the right choice considering slowking's weakness to exeggutor and how common he seems to be in UU. I was considering hitmontop for rapid spin as he could also be useful against kangaskhan but breeding a hitmontop would seem to be quite the chore. I'm not sure that rapid spin is even important in UU though; the only commonly used hazard pokemon I can think of for UU is omastar -- do people often run spikes?
  15. So I had a lv50 team planned without realizing that 2 of the pokemon in my lineup are not actually legal in UU. I'm looking for suggestions on the remaining 2 slots to fill my first team, or improvements on my current lineup to make it more viable for UU. My current lineup of 4 is: Crobat (Modest) Giga Drain Confuse Ray Shadow Ball Heat Wave Slowking (Calm) Surf Psychic Calm Mind Slack Off Shuckle (Careful) Toxic Wrap Rest Rock Slide (planning on changing this) Steelix (Impish) Toxic Rollout Curse Sand Tomb I haven't ha a lot of experience in UU comp so I am not sure of a lot of the challenges I'm going to be facing. I'm not sure how I'll be dealing with enemy kangs or setting up/dealing with hazards and such. I'm also not sure if my current plan to run Crobat as a lead is a good one. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated. Any suggestions on held items would also be appropriate.
  16. Yea I was thinking just psychic and icebeam would be better than changing for HP elec to go surf and HP, and retain the value of the poke since I already spent the time getting those 31s. Seems like I would get just as much coverage for UU with that moveset?
  17. Do people actually do this for comp, then? Basically I have a slowking who is 30/16/31/31/31/16 an I don't know if it's worth it to get HP elec or just run icebeam or psychic instead, considering I don't really want my IVs going down below 30 on the main stats.
  18. How does it work? with my current IVs my slowking is a 63psy, does he change the IVs? Does he change the element? Does it go up to 70?
  19. The hidden power guy in lavender tower. He says he can change my hidden power in exchange for a "piece of earth".
  20. What is this lunatic talking about?
  21. Seems kind of pointless to get something to help you catch one pokemon when you have literally already caught them all. Also, master balls are relatively useless anyways. I just keep them in case I run into a shiny for the first time in my life across the 9 different pokemon games I've played through now. I don't think the reward should be something already in the game, to be honest. I also disagree with vanity items but tat's just because I simply don't care about that kind of stuff and I like my character's outfit to match :P. I would accept a master ball for "discovering" all of the pokemon, but for catching every single one.... kind of a weak prize.
  22. Probably the most unrewarding thing to do i the game right now. Getting to battle 7 is more than just a chore, the RNG definitely favors the opponents ad ridiculum and you have to wade through 7 battles hoping they don't crit 3 times in a row or ave your pokemon be paralyzed 5 times in a row as they usually do. At the end of it the reward is precisely insulting. Not sure why you would make it take 7 battles to get any reward whatsoever anyways; kind of pooped.
  23. Yea, that's why I mentioned how the newer official games tackle it. That's a lot of additional programming, though.
  24. Both of these solution would require just as much of a grind. I know what you're saying, but the fact is I have been playing this game for a year and a half and have 3 pokemon. I cannot convince my friends, who are all pokemon enthusiasts, to play this game based on the grind between so many factors just to get one competitive level pokemon. Even worse, I'm losing motivation to even log in for more than 10 minutes. The newer versions of the official pokemon game have addressed the fact that the older versions exasperate their users on the EV-grind, and have offered other avenues accordingly. I think this game would benefit from also acknowledging this, considering it's otherwise the best pokemon game I've played.
