  1. Okay, let's analyze this; Let's look at what's wrong with Clubs as they are now, and what these updates will do to change things. To do this, I'm going to give you the perspective of how I (and probably more than a few other people) used Round Table, and how this translates to how unusable Clubs are for this. So, previously, with round table, it'd go like this: See new posts in the Round Table subforum Click on the subforum, glance over at what team threads have new activity. If I care about any of those teams, I click to see the newest posts. Appreciate whatever drama/bantz/shitposts are in the thread, and maybe participate Pretty straightforward. Now, let's see the process as of right now: Decide, out of my own volition, to click Clubs for some reason, since there's no clear indicator of new posts. I could follow the forum threads, but understandably, I don't want to get a notification literally any time anyone posts in any of the several team threads I might be interested in viewing. Yes, there's "Recent Activity", but it doesn't go very far; All it takes is like 5 posts in 1 thread in quick succession and I don't know the status of the team threads in any other clubs. I'm in clubs, now what? Well, if I want to look at the team thread of a club I decided to join, thankfully, there's a "My Clubs" area to easily find them. If it's a club I'm not in & don't want to join for any particular reason, I have to go find it. I click whatever Club I want to look at, ending up at the home page, which is basically worthless. I guess I can glance it to determine if there's any new content in the team thread, but I can't really look down the timeline to read the thread, so it's not really useful for much else. I go to the forum topics. I click on the team thread and look at the posts. If I want to look at any other team thread, instead of going back up to the RT subforum and clicking another thread, I have to go back to the Club section and go through steps 2-5 again, which is way more of a hassle, especially since I have to effectively check every single relevant club section to even know if there's new content worth checking for. This is especially bad since this negative feedback loop has resulted in the team threads I care about being basically dead, so it's not even worth clicking on the club section anymore to see if anything's new, or post new content myself. So, what's the problem here, exactly? The problem is 2 major problems: One, there's an entire 2 extra steps, of clicking on the club, and then clicking on their subforum to get to the team thread. The second major problem is that the team threads are no longer aggregated in 1 page, but separated into their own clubs, meaning that these 2 extra steps become a shit ton of extra steps if you're trying to look at more than 1 team thread, and it's especially problematic because unlike before, it's not obvious what team threads have new content worth viewing. Okay, so now that we've established this, let's see what the new features do to fix this: "Club Content throughout the community": From what I can tell, this allows you to easily aggregate the subforums of individual clubs, putting them together and letting you visit them. This effectively cuts out 1 of the 2 extra steps, because you don't need to look at the garbage home page! And it even seems to tell you when new posts are here, like in the old round table, so it's kind of like how it was before? It's definitely more convenient than now. But it still has the obnoxious caveat that you have to be in the club to see the subforums here, which is especially obnoxious if teams decide to switch to "Read Only" so that non-team members can still view the content, but make it so only team members can actually join the club, as "Read Only" clubs, as far as I can tell, won't show up here. Really, this update does make Clubs way more usable, even though there's still an extra unnecessary step involved. With that being said, I'm still not actually convinced it'll completely solve the issue; Read Only clubs are an attractive setting option for people who want their club content to be looked at, but don't want randos posting in their team threads. Unfortunately, this also means that if people start using it, pretty much everything that makes Clubs more usable in the update is basically irrelevant for any clubs you aren't invited to. Yeah yeah yeah, "then maybe they shouldn't make their clubs Read Only and live in Public mode forever" jajaja I get it, but it's still a problem. I'd also still rather not join the club of random teams I'm not actually in just so I can actually look at their team threads in an even slightly convenient way, but I doubt a solution to this is ever going to exist. TL;DR: 4.3 makes any Clubs you are in infinitely more usable/readable. Read Only is a great feature for team clubs hypothetically, but since it precludes the part of the update that makes clubs actually usable for looking at the team threads, I don't think it's actually helpful. Being forced to join clubs of teams you aren't in just to be able to look at their team thread without going through a summoning ritual is still ass. There's still an entire extra step even with the improvements that wasn't there before even in a perfect world, and that sucks, but idk that's life I guess. Clubs you haven't joined are still basically unusable for regular team thread shitposting purposes, so you're gonna have to join every even remotely interesting looking club.
  2. I don't understand why you felt this was appropriate? It wasn't really an attack on Kizhaz, but an attack on the incredulity of the statement, because the comment legitimately makes no sense. I don't know how to tell you this, but you're making a game for the players. If the players don't feel something is worthwhile, then there's a reason they do so. This isn't an uncommon sentiment either, so the idea that players would just "lower their expectations", especially considering this system has been around for quite a while, is completely absurd. The fact of the matter is, regardless of whether it is worthwhile or not from your perspective, if the players don't feel it's worthwhile, it really doesn't matter. You could sit here all day and lecture people about how worthwhile and well balanced prizes are right now from your perspective as a designer, but if the players don't feel that way and the game is suffering because of it, then obviously you need to reevaluate something in the system.

  4. i didn't see any coaching in B team. evidence: we're in last :^)
  5. For anyone concerned about this, take a second closer look at the OP. Everything should be clear. @Munya we're done here boi
  6. The discussion is regarding the removal/adjustment of RNG effects in competitive play, primarily. The specifics of the additional RNG in breeding is something not open to public discussion, but was included in the OP to be announced to people. If that was unclear, then my b.
  7. That's not really something we're able to or willing to openly discuss, nor is it relevant to the main point of this thread.
  8. Due to a lack of significant usage or problematic gameplay caused by Torkoal since it's introduction to UU, it is to remain UU for the foreseeable future.
  9. For this month of usage, we're going to use the regular 4.36% cutoff point, to try and get the tiers into a more "accurate" ballpark of what they should look like before we start the regular 3 month cycles. As a result, there's going to be some relatively major tier shifts, but they should be significantly more stable after this month, barring updates. Additionally, in light of some of the major movements caused by this, we're going to move quite a few BL pokemon into UU for testing. Moving up from UU to OU: Jolteon Snorlax Weezing All of these pokemon were above the 4.36% cutoff for usage in OU. Moving up from NU to UU: Typhlosion Quagsire Medicham Clefable Dusknoir Nidoqueen Umbreon All of these pokemon were above the 4.36% cutoff for usage in UU. Moving down from OU to UU: Breloom Kingdra Cloyster Jellicent Chansey All of these pokemon were below the 4.36% cutoff for usage in OU. Some of those pokemon will likely be very strong in UU, but we have decided to not quickban anything, and will be keeping a close eye on UU for possible problems. Moving down from BL to UU: Darmanitan Azumarill Both of these pokemon were initially placed into BL for fear of them being too overwhelming to be allowed in UU. However, they are being tested in UU, for several reasons. In the case of Darmanitan, a large part of the reason it was initially banned was the sheer power that Sheer Force grants it's main STAB, Flare Blitz, effectively allowing it to be spammed incredibly effectively, regardless of resistances. However, without Sheer Force, Darmanitan loses a significant amount of power, as well as losing survivability on it's LO set. In light of this, as well as the fact that other, arguably just as threatening if not moreso threats are being pushed down to UU, the TC has decided that it is worth testing. Azumarill is a similar powerhouse, and will still likely be very difficult to answer in UU. However, even when it was quickbanned, it was not necessarily for being a completely unstoppable threat, but being a major, incredibly difficult to reliably stop threat. With the drop of Jellicent, it's largest and hardest counter, Azumarill seems like a reasonable threat to test out. While we still expect it to be a great threat, the projected popularity of Jellicent at least makes it worth trying out. Moving down from UU to NU: Gligar Gligar dropped below the UU cutoff, and is dropping.
  10. All I have to say is: We'll see. It's definitely a different type of game, but if we want PokeMMO to expand competitively, it's a different type of game we'll have to make. The current system just discourages seriously competitive players, while the high barrier to entry already precludes casual players; I think this will legitimately expand the competitive community. Believe what you want. Beyond that, I think that implementing this when things are hectic is the best time IMO, as opposed to completely changing things once matters have settled, but that's neither here nor there.
  11. Understandably, some people are upset with this change. I assure you, it's not a joke; Yes, the start of April is coming up soon, but this is when all tier changes/shifts are posted normally. These changes WILL be implemented, but not necessarily soon. As was stated, things are still being ironed out, and this thread is to discuss the changes and ideas regarding it. The more immediate monthly tier shifts have not been posted yet because Munya/Darkshade are not around to make the movements ingame or pin/lock the primary announcement thread, however, since this was intended to be a discussion thread, it was posted first. I don't understand why you felt the need to post this in the thread. If you have serious issues with the changes fundamentally, take the talk internally; If you have specific criticisms of our implementation you'd like to discuss, go into more detail. I think you've been really uncooperative during this whole process IMO, and I don't think this is a good start to the thread.
  12. As of the next update, a large majority of RNG-related effects will be removed from Tournament Mode & Tournaments. This issue has been deliberated and voted on by the tier council, culminating in a resounding majority vote to strip these effects from the game for the sake of competitive integrity and enjoyment. Previously, whenever playing competitively, a large amount of the game came to managing your odds, and hoping fortune doesn't turn against you. A large part of the game really is dealing with possible misses, crits, and devastating statuses like random freezes, or max sleep turns. Even minor things are built into the game, like damage rolls, that can constantly sway the way the match is going on a turn-by-turn basis. Reasonably, some people may be wondering how it's even possible for RNG to be removed from pokemon completely, but some of the details of the more major changes required have already been ironed out by cooperation between the TC and the Dev team, and for the sake of transparency & discussion on if these solutions are adequate, they'll be listed out in this post. Initially, we were concerned with the most obvious problem; Damage rolls, crits, and accuracy. However, we managed to find a good compromise. Crits are completely removed, and moves/abilities that influenced criticals instead have minor damage bonuses in order to compensate. This should bring them in line with non-crit based moves, and put them in a reasonably balanced spot. Losing the damage roll mechanic was an easy thing to adjust for; All that's necessary is to go with what would have been the "average" roll previously, and have that be the outcome every time. However, that doesn't account for accuracy, as we can't just boost sub-100 accuracy moves up to 100 accuracy, as that creates some very obvious and unintended imbalances. Fortunately, the removal of damage rolls provides a built-in solution for this; Instead of simply having an average outcome every time, depending on the original accuracy of the given move, the damage roll outcome of the move is adjusted. For example, 100% accuracy moves won't have an average "damage roll" outcome, they'll have a high one, and lower accuracy moves will deal damage equal to low to min rolls in the previous system. This also makes sure that accuracy/evasion affecting moves& abilities still have an effect, even if minor, in the new system. This also allows to remove bans such as Hax Items Clause and Evasion Clause. Other niche problems have case-by-case solutions. For example, moves like Fire Blast and Flamethrower simply have their secondary effect removed completely, only counting for things such as Sheer Force, whereas moves like Thunder, with their significant 30% chance to para, are another matter entirely. In cases like Thunder, we have decided to split the move into 2 variations; A weaker version with a guaranteed status, and a stronger version with no status. On the other hand, some things are too inherently problematic to fix. Confusion, Attract, and all similar effects have simply been removed, as well as any effect that interacts with things that can't be reasonably planned against such as gender interactions; IE Rivalry. Paralysis has had the "Full Para" effect removed, and freezes no longer exists. Sleep length depends on the move being used, ie, Hypnosis gives 1 turn of sleep, Sleep Powder gives 2, and Spore gives 3. Losing important moves/abilities is certain to be a devastating blow to certain pokemon, as their options are now limited, but most things that are being lost are going to be replaced with another ability that has some kind of effect. The current problem we're facing is a lack of certainty on some of these issues; For example, how do we replace Effect Spore? It isn't a problem with a simple solution, but we think it's workable. Sadly, we know that this will drive away some players who thoroughly enjoyed the RNG and luck competitive pokemon sometimes required. To compensate for this, after the update, breeding is going to require significantly more RNG, so that the game still has a fair amount of luck, in addition to skill, required. Discuss.

  14. Listen, I know you're new around here, and don't understand the finer points of the delicate political and societal ecosystem of the PokeMMOTM landscape, but I will not sit here quietly and take this blatant disrespect of the most esteemed PokeMMO political office. First of all, Bestfriends is a long time and beloved member of the community, providing quality of content for dedicated PokeMMOTM players, such as coverage on ingame playthroughs, and even brief discussions of pokemon outside of story, looking at notable pokemon like Hercalacross and Sailamence. Sure, it's his first time in office, and he hasn't done a significant amount, but he had to take time to hand select his cabinet, a strenuous and time consuming task. To say he hasn't done anything and deserves no such title, despite his past contributions and the fact he won the election is blatant slander. Quite frankly, it's nothing less than political mudslinging of the lowest degree. He hasn't demanded any sort of respect from any authority, not that he needs to. You said it yourself; You don't even understand what the mayorship placement entails, and yet you're outright flaming and aggrieving this man for doing his best in his elected position. Speaking of demanding respect, you made time to advertise your own thread, with your own VERY IMPORTANTTM DONUT STEEL Super Survey That Will Stay On Everyone's Permanent Records as a completely shoehorned addition to your post. It isn't enough to outright insult our mayor, but you also have to advertise your own content? Well, I guess all that matters is you've found a way to feel superior to everyone involved in the election and everyone who posts on the forums at the same time, so you've got that going for you. Yes, the first post of the thread is garbage. Unfortunately, after the complete and utter collapse of the original Mayoral Regime after the devastating Riga.exe bombings of February, the original systems in place for this system were destroyed, and Fred was the only person who could run the election. Yes, it wasn't professional, and yes, it made the position seem like a joke, but to anyone experienced in the community, lengthy prose about it's importance isn't necessary; it's understood implicitly. Ultimately, the person going around the forums actively aggrieving people and spamming links to their thread is not our Divine Emperor, Mayor, and Supreme Authority of All Things Above Bestfriends, it's you. And if you can't even manage some Poke-Respect for our mayor, then I don't know how you can expect to receive and Poke-Respect yourself. From my perspective, the troll here isn't Bestfriends, it's you. Additionally, just to explain some of the roles of the mayor and the benefits it provides to the community, since you professed to not understanding it, allow me to list them: The mayor maintains order, acting as a speaking point and representative of multiple facets of the PokeMMO community. They assist new players, educating them and introducing them to larger groups of the community to become involved. They maintain a constant thumb on the pulse of the playerbase, listening for discontent and attempting to resolve problems. They are literally granted divine powers and hold a great sway on the growth of our crops, ensuring we survive the winter. Quite frankly, you should do more research before posting.

  17. Dugtrio & Wobbuffet are banned from OU to Ubers. Dugtrio & Wobbuffet have both been banned due to their uncompetitive nature as versatile, obnoxious trapping threats. The amount of things they can successfully trap and kill is higher than it should be. Beyond that, having 2 broadly threatening trappers in the metagame at the same time, with no team preview, means it's effectively impossible to play around them at all. In the case of Wobbuffet, it's ability to indiscriminately trap everything, barring the small amount of ghost types, meant it was unusually effective at discouraging most choiced pokemon. In particular, Choice Scarfers could be picked off with no trouble at all by Wobbuffet, barring specific threats like Hydreigon, due to being immune to Mirror Coat. Even non-choiced pokemon could get Encored, turning them into setup bait. Ultimately, even though the TC decided to test Wobbuffet out in OU, it has still been shown to be a bit too effective in it's role as a trapper, something fundamentally uncompetitive. As a result, Wobbuffet is banned to Ubers. In the case of Dugtrio, the buff from 80 -> 100 Base attack has given it the ability to trap and successfully kill way too many threats. While it would ordinarily still be an effective trapper, the buff makes it way less niche than it should be. As a result, whenever the next update occurs, Dugtrio's base attack will be reverted from base 100 to base 80. However, until the attack nerf is implemented, Dugtrio is banned to Ubers.
  18. Nice. Anyway, I don't understand what point you're hoping to make here. First of all, I have no idea what you think arguing with the TC members about whether or not they would have possibly added RU or not pre-update is going to accomplish. If they're telling you it wouldn't have happened, multiple members at that, I legitimately don't understand why you think insulting them for even daring to question your proclamation of what they would have done in the future is going to accomplish. Quite frankly, attitudes like this is why you're getting such a negative response to this, and indeed, most of your threads. You make a massive amount of assumptions in your posts, and in this thread especially, and then come up with "ideas" or "solutions" based on your perceived/imagined problems, usually with... dubious reasoning, or practicality. Of course, when people rebuke these ideas, either because the assumptions you made them on are just false, or the conclusion you came to based on them is just bad, impractical, or both, you default to responses like these. Obviously, the best example of this is the RU shenanigans going on in-thread. It's been made pretty clear that RU would never have happened pre-update, and your conclusion that it is even less likely post-update is fundamentally wrong, since post-update is the only time it would ever have even been considered. However, for some reason, you feel compelled to argue with TC members about the fact that it would not have happened, just because...They're disproving your really wrong, baseless assumption? It's stuff like that which is problematic. Why can't you just admit "My bad, that was a wrong assumption, but that's not JUST what my post is about, it's just a supporting point."? Is it so difficult to just admit that your assumption was wrong, and at the end of the day, that's all it was; An assumption? Of course, the RU thing wasn't the point of your post, but the whole thing is riddled with dubious assumptions, and is providing solutions to your own invented problems. For example: "Only adding mons" is hardly the sole "content patch". You talk about leaking down Hidden Abilities and Legendaries, but are we just ignoring the fact that they're supposed to be put in the Dungeons, content which is supposed to act as the endgame PvE? Oh, but because you put in ""true"" mmo features in that first paragraph, you can easily rebuke this! Legendary Dungeons aren't REAL MMO content, they're just extra grind! It's just a dressed up way to drip feed new pokemon, the rest of the stuff is just a way to do it! So, what is true mmo content? Features you like? Features you suggested? Spending time grinding the level of your new fangled XatuTM Trainer Classes? Your initial point of "Instead of adding interesting unique content, they're just slowly adding regular pokemon game stuff" is a reasonable one, but the more and more you elaborate and try to support your point, the more you dig yourself into the hole of, instead of trying to make a legitimate point, just trying to scream at devs to put priorities into the things YOU like and think is good for the game, with pretty much anything outside of your sphere of opinion being garbage content. When you go on to literally just list suggestions you've made as good ideas for stuff that would be "true" content after backhandedly suggesting that Dungeons are garbage non-content displays this pretty clearly. This all falls squarely in the latter stage I pointed out earlier; Now that you've made your assumptions, you write on and on, giving solutions to your imagined problem. First of all, I don't really care what update you're talking about; I don't even need clarification to know that, whatever update you're talking about, the ENTIRE COMMUNITY did not hate it. This is just needlessly hyperbolic & outright false. In fact, the last update to make breeding comps easier WAS an attempt at finding a middleground to complaints about how obnoxious breeding comps was, especially after people had to breed a ton of new stuff with Unova. But, if you don't personally like it, they're not doing it? The devs have gotten better at listening to the community, and just because you & some people you know don't like an update, it doesn't mean the entire community doesn't. The rest is basically garbage. You obviously don't have actual knowledge/experience within staff/TC/the dev team, so why are you talking as if you do? Well, I wasn't aware that you've been so involved in development that you've seen a dev boss everyone else around! Man, who is this guy? We should get rid of him immediately! I really don't understand the purpose of this. The devs have a far better understanding of how they operate than you do (obviously), so why are you giving them advice on how to handle it? Where did this sentence even come from? Or is a scenario like this the only way you could fathom the decisions/updates being made, instead of, y'know, maybe they just think that was the right idea? It's really bizarre to me to see stuff like this shoved into the post out of nowhere. The last few sentences are just doomsaying garbage to try and make your idea/complaint/post seem more important than dire than it is. No need for it whatsoever. Also, re: everything about "just hire more devs/volunteers/janitors/cookie sellers/cotton candy represntatives!"; I don't know how many ways and times the devs have to say "no" to just adding random people to the dev team before you actually listen. It's clear they don't intend to freely just add in developers, and the fact you're still suggesting despite being told this a million times shows a complete non-willingness to compromise or listen that's beyond my abilities. It's also completely at-ends with your statement of removing anyone even remotely toxic to add as many people as you possibly can to the development team, since you seem to have serious issue with the people who staff choose (TC and staff), and yet are also telling them to freely, with their own discretion, add people to development. What makes you think you'll like them any more than you seem to like the current staff/TC/Cotton Candy Sellers/Gigalith Breeders? tl;dr: xatu dude just take an L jfc

  20. Torkoal, the drought-causing, crop killing behemoth himself is being Tested in UU. It was initially placed in BL due to the fear of Sun teams being an overwhelming threat in UU with a Drought user. However, without Heat Rock working, these teams have much less time to work in their preferred weather, making Torkoal arguably non-broken enough in UU to warrant testing. This is especially so when you keep in mind that Gigalith, an opposing weather setter, has managed to carve out a niche and rise from NU to UU itself. However, we are still well aware of how threatening Sun can be, and especially how much support it can provide to both fast Chlorophyll attackers such as Victreebel, as well as the destructive power it gives STAB fire powerhouses such as Typhlosion and Blaziken. With that it mind, we will be watching Torkoal closely over the next month, and will likely make it's final decision on it's place in UU by next month. With all of this in mind, what are your thoughts on Torkoal & sun in general in UU? Discuss.
  21. For the first time since the Unova update, tiers are going to be updated. Usage based changes are made based on the usage gathered from February, found in this thread: Notably, the way we're going to do usage based movements is different now. Usage will now be done in 3 month cycles, with normal usage movements (4.36% cutoff point) at the end of a cycle, combining the usage from the prior 3 months into 1 large aggregation of usage. Notably, the older months in the cycle, 1 & 2, are weighted significantly less than the last month, having a weight of 1 and 3 respectively, with the last month having a weighting of 20. This also means that during these cycles, pokemon will not move according to the ordinary 4.36% cutoff. Instead, there are quick drop/rise cutoff %'s that, when reached, will move pokemon even mid-cycle. The quick drop value is 1.7%, and quick rise is 6.7%. The purpose of the 3 month cycle is to make tiers more stable, instead of constantly monthly usage. The quick change %'s serve the purpose of ensuring that this increased consistency does not also result in wildly inaccurate tiers, as bans or new additions can cause massive changes to tiers. The quick %'s should account for this, moving pokemon that suddenly spike in usage or drop significantly mid cycle. For the month of February, we will dictate our usage movements using the quick drop and rise %'s, instead of the ordinary 4.36% cutoff. Moving up from UU/NU to OU: Milotic Mantine Tentacruel Arcanine Swampert All of these pokemon were above the 6.7% cutoff for usage in OU. Moving up from UU to BL: Porygon-Z: Porygon-Z has been terrorizing UU for the past couple of months with it's absurd strength. With Adaptability, it's STAB of choice, Tri-Attack, becomes an absurd threat fired off from it's base 135 special attack. If you opted to run Download instead, you could sacrifice the consistent STAB boost for a chance at a +1 boost to all of your attacks. In either case, Porygon-Z was an incredibly difficult to handle behemoth. Not only was it difficult to switch in with much of anything, but there were also multiple different sets to look out for, even for things that could answer it. Life Orb or Specs made any sort of defensive switchin even less viable, whereas something like Scarf or Agility could be used to outright sweep a team. Nasty Plot was also an option to guarantee a KO on basically anything that isn't outright faster than it. Ultimately, when Porygon-Z came out, it usually resulted in a pokemon getting sacced in order to check it, since dealing with any other way was somewhere between very difficult, risky, and unreliable. Because of this, : Porygon-Z is *Porygone from UU." Moving up from NU to UU: Venusaur Weezing Mandibuzz Gigalith All of these pokemon were above the 6.7% cutoff for usage in UU. Moving down from BL to UU: Bisharp Torkoal Both of these pokemon were initially placed into BL for fear of them being too overwhelming to be allowed in UU. However, that was assuming that everything, abilities, items, etc. works as intended. Unfortunately, that has not turned out to be the case, and as such, these 2 pokemon are being moved down until they end up actually receiving what would make them overwhelming. Bisharp was placed into BL for fear that it's high attack power along with Defiant and the lack of team preview makes it too punishing of a threat against Defog, with minimal counterplay until it's revealed. As a result, it was placed into BL until Team Preview was added, at the very least. However, with the lack of a properly working Defiant, it was decided that Bisharp would not be problematic in UU, and has been moved down. Torkoal is more controversial, however, with the lack of Heat Rock, it was ultimately determined that sun may not necessarily be too much for the UU tier to handle, and as such, is being Suspect Tested in UU. Expect a discussion thread for Torkoal in UU to be posted soon, and a decision on it's continued status in UU should be decided by next month. Moving down from UU to NU: Frosslass Honchkrow Whimsicott All of these pokemon were below the 1.7% cutoff for usage in UU, and were dropped.
