Nothing much to say here. May 21st, 2022 - ??? encounters I was doing single encounters at Mirage Tower trying to catch some Cacnea to sell for profit on the GTL (at the time they were selling for decent cash) and then I ran into this guy! I wasn't into shiny hunting at the time, but I would've much rather had Trapinch. This may have been what sparked me to get much more serious in my shiny hunts. I wish I had known (done my research) at the time about the 50/50 horde spot there. I had just got back into Pokemmo after not playing since 2016, and I was only playing it for the storylines at this point. March 31st, 2023 - FAIL ~ 40,000 encounters I was actually still on my Vulpix hunt when I just needed to take a break and do something else. I went to the Hoenn Safari Zone and as I was heading to the Johto area, I went through the patches just in front of the entrance and ran into a Shiny Doduo. It was okay because I knew Safari Shinies were very esteemed in the Pokemmo Community... it fled after the first ball. April 7th, 2023 ~ 8,000 encounters In an effort to reclaim a missed shiny, I grinded to vent my frustration. Thankfully, I was blessed with low encounters on this one. This was at the Abundant Shrine by the way, because I'm cheap and didn't want to spend Leppa's doing this at My. Pyre. Honestly though, I like Stantler as well and would've been okay with either outcome. I might come back one day to get Stantler. I just hope they don't change its horde spot when Johto comes out. May 5th, 2023 (Cinco De Mayo) ~ 10,000 encounters I just wanted a quick hunt after Shiny Vulpix because I was still feeling the sting of the fleeing safari shiny. Luckily this guy shined very early as well! Sootopolis City is nice! June 15th, 2023 - 22,000 encounters Again, I just wanted quick hunts because you know, who doesn't? Because I am cheap, I figured out I could use a regular repel to ride down the river to the Fuego Ironworks. One repel is 400 Poke-PokeYen and 3 Leppa Berries is 2400. It was a no brainer for me. I play mostly mobile because it can be hard to have a long period of time to sit by my computer. I don't have a good way to track my encounters, but the repels (and I'm sure Leppas) have a good way of motivating your progress. I was okay with either shiny here, but I probably won't come back for Magmar. I recommend people using repels to do this hunt because it is very underrated if you're on a budget! June 23rd, 2023 ~ 1000 encounters I honestly have no words for this one. I thought it was funny that I have gotten yellow/gold shinies, so I figured I would keep the trend going for at least the remainder of the year. This is the spot near Celestic Town on Route 210. This Swablu came out Adamant with 31 attack. PERFECTION! August 21st, 2023 ~ 25,000 encounters Johto has been out for a week. I had just beat the elite four there and got my Voltorb hat! I learned of a really cool spot on Route 47 where you can lure for Chansey, and other rare Pokemon like Farfetch'd! I just went back to Cianwood to grab some supplies, and before my way back up, I decided to smash some rocks. This guy came out of one of the rocks! Surprise shinies always give me mixed emotions, but this one was welcome. At least it fits the gold theme we are going for this year! I guess Krabby has a horde now, but oh well. Rock smash shinies are cool! I also caught my Suicune about an hour later, so that was a really good day! September 27th, 2023 ~ 5,000 encounters Another Golden Shiny! I have been coming here occasionally during night time to get 100% Arbok hordes on Route 27 in Johto. I had spent some time egg shunting for fun, and took a break when in-game night occurred. I had slowed down my horde hunting, but I was apparently rewarded when I came back to it! I wanted to get this before the end of this year, so now I need to ponder what hunt to do next. November 15th, 2023 ~ 3,000 encounters My Golden streak has been broken. Donphan appears to be more of a bronze color than gold. Nonetheless, we will take it! You could probably guess that this was the result of exp. training at Mt. Silver and you would be correct. I'm a bit nervous, because I have been getting a lot of shinies extremely under rate. I haven't been tracking super closely though, so this is my best guess. We will be very sad when that pendulum swings back the other way! November 30th, 2023 ~ 7,000 encounters I'm convinced I'm not counting my encounters correctly. Oh well! This is my 10th OT shiny! After getting the Shiny Donphan, I decided to start hunting shinies that I actually wanted, regardless of a color scheme. While hunting for Vulpix earlier this year, I knew in the back of my mind I would go back and get the other eventually, because I like both of those shinies. Since the Abundant Shrine made Stantler a 20% horde after the horde update, I knew I wanted to hunt somewhere else, and not get a 2nd Vulpix. So, I went to Route 37, and did my first 3x horde hunt. This went very quick since it was by the PC. I feel my shiny odds have been excellent, and I have been very happy for getting the shinies I have. I don't always get a lot of time to invest in shiny hunting, so these last finds have kept my spirits high! December 28th, 2023 ~ 10,000 encounters Getting a 20% shiny boost for the Christmas event was an unexpected, but welcome surprise for this year's event. After I had earned my fairy elfbot hat, I decided I would hunt a Winter only shiny to take advantage of this "once in a lifetime" boost. I like Vanillish because it reminds me of those power Crystals from Crash Bandicoot lol. I have finally earned my first Power Crystal in Pokemon! January 14th, 2024 ~ 15,000 encounters Following the new year, I pondered about other spots that had cool shinies, and Route 43 in Johto caught my eye. I really liked both Girafarig and Flaaffy as shinies, so I figured it was a win-win to hunt here for a bit. I ended up getting Flaaffy, but for whatever reason, I felt a little disappointed once the encounter happened. Maybe I have a subconscious leaning towards Girafarig's shiny? Someday I will come back here to get the other because both are excellent in my opinion. January 27th, 2024 ~ 10,000 encounters In an attempt to get Girafarig/Houndour in my collection, I decided to hunt at the Valor Lakefront at nighttime with LEPPAS. Shocking because I am a tightwad and don't like to spend money like that. During the daytimes, I will go and do some other shunts and Dunsparce was the one I was at when it shined! I did not use leppas for this however, and just darted back and forth from the PC. No regrets here! March 3rd, 2024 ~ 33,972 encounters I am so happy to see the Houndour shine! As mentioned above, I have been at Valor Lakefront at nighttime and 3x hordes take a lot more time. I probably spent at least an hour a day, sometimes more hunting for this. It can be hard because the nightime window can interfere with my personal schedule, so I took advantage of any free moment I could to get this hunt out of the way. I realize this is the more desired shiny, but I think I still want the Girafarig too lol. I might go back to Route 43 and risk a duplicate Flaaffy. I really am glad for the shiny Houndour, because odds are I would never come back to hunt for it anyway had I got Girafarig. March 14th, 2024 (Pi Day) ~ 12,000 encounters I wanted to stick to another night time shunt, while my schedule allowed me to take advantage of it. I learned quickly that you have to get into Shoal Cave quickly before it actually turns nighttime, or the tide will come in and make it unavailable. I would sometimes cheat and go during the day when Sealeo was a the other encounter. I am glad to get Snorunt though, because I would rather hunt for Sealeo in Sinnoh next to a PC. March 23rd, 2024 ~ 10,000 encounters I was taking a break from shiny hunting a little bit, and wanted to try some money making methods around all the regions. Of course, I was over at Kindle road when this one shined. This is my first "surprise" shiny since Donphan. I don't know whether to be happy or sad, as I could've been going for other shinies I would've rather had. We of course will not complain, since I do not have a Meowth yet! This is also what I would call a "wet" streak, since this is 3 shinies in one month, and I try to shoot for about 1 a month. March 28th, 2024 ~ 5,000 encounters I wanted to get another shiny before the end of this month to see if I could press my luck. BEHOLD, 4 shinies in the month of March! We went back and forth from the Fight Area to Route 230 for some free 5x hordes. April 22nd, 2024 ~ 65,000 encounters We went dry, but that's okay. I deserve it from last month! I wanted to get in a winter shiny while the season was around, and Cubchoo and Cryogonal both look cool to me. I found this one with leppas by the icy stone. I can always get Beartic later by Dragonspiral Tower, so this was my preferred pick. I'm not sure where to go next, but I'll find something to do in the meantime! Wishlist/Current Hunts Why am I egg hunting? ~ 1000 eggs This is honestly a shot in the dark, and I realistically don't expect much out of this. I will do a batch of eggs sporadically when I feel like it. I would love to brag having a rare shiny in game, but I certainly don't have the time needed to fully dedicate to this. I have been doing the cheap Skitty hunt, and any male Skitty will be bred with my leftover Chanseys. We will see what happens lol THANK YOU and good luck with your own shiny hunts!
