All year, PokeMMO's top competitors have battled it out for a place in this tournament for one reason: to show they are the best of the best. I would like to give a very big congratulations to all who have qualified for this event. I feel it is a great honor to be hosting such a tournament. With that being said, let's get into the details.. This will be a Swiss tournament. For an explanation on Swiss tournaments, refer to the to spoiler below: [spoiler] A Swiss tournament tends to pair opponents based on skill level and record.For example -Round 1A def BC def DSince A and C both won the first round, they would be paired up for the 2nd roundRound 2B def DC def AThe winner is then determined by the best record and number of points. An example scoring system would be below.2 points for a win0 points for a loss1 point for draw [/spoiler] Date & Time: Date: Saturday, January 18 2014 Time: 6:00 PM EST | 3:00 PM PST | 11:00 PM GMT Location: Silph Co. Channel 7 Details: 6v6 Doubles (OU) Level 50 12 contenders Swiss Tournament 5 rounds Clauses: Sleep/1HKO/Pristine/Species/Hax Item/Evasion/Self-KO/Bag Items List of clauses Modified Time Clause: Since a new round cannot begin until all matches in the previous round are over, there is a 30 minute cap on all matches. After the the 30 minutes have passed, the match will be counted as a draw for both players. If a player is known to be stalling intentionally and their opponent has seen the AFK Time Out button multiple times, the stalling player will be advised not to intentionally stall. If the stalling continues, the player's opponent will be advised to end the battle via AFK Time Out. The player who was not stalling will get the win. Additional Information: This event will use Tournament Mode for all duels. If your match is not started in Tournament Mode you will be advised to timeout and restart the match. Banned Moves: - Hyperbeam Banned Pokemon: Wobbufet Tyranitar Dragonite Registration: Method: Players are to send a Personal Message via forums to the host (XelaKebert) stating their IGN. If you are a forum banned user, you may send the host a private message via TeamSpeak 3. Registration is open as of now, the time this thread has been posted. Registrations will be taken until - Date: January 17th Time:Time: 6:00 PM EST | 3:00 PM PST | 11:00 PM GMT Bracket Reserves Frags Legendario PinkWings Winterbrah Explanation: The levels of registration are as follows:1. Master’s Invites2. Reserve Tickets Example: The winner of FNF March does not show, the 2nd Place for FNF March gets in. If neither show, the next Reserve Ticket (April in this case) takes the FNF March spot. 1st Place - FNF March: AlbelIV | Doesn't show 2nd Place - FNF March: Unreal | Doesn't show 1st Place - FNF April: Nlceguy | Shows; gets in as usual 2nd Place - FNF April: yWreck | Shows; takes the place of FNF March Rules: - Do not AFK Time Out your opponent unless you are advised to by a referee or the host. - Disconnecting will result in a DQ unless you prove a Fatal Render Error caused it. - Do not block your opponents or staff running the event. - Volpi Clause will not be allowed. Uncheck "render overworld in battle" (Menu -> Settings -> Video) if needed. If you find any bugs with this move please report it to him immediately and the move will once again be banned. Also, we will not be limited to Level 50 Pokemon as the OU Tournament is. Emlee Posted January 18, 2014 Share Posted January 18, 2014 Since the other thread is locked and I have no idea how to figure this out how is the tie breaker score calculated and how was it determined who came in second place in the 50s Master's? I just was glancing at the bracket and couldn't figure it out. I am fairly clueless about the Swiss Tournament. Thanks in advance for any one who cares to explain! Link to comment
Tranzmaster Posted January 18, 2014 Share Posted January 18, 2014 The tie-break score is calculated according to the Median-Buchholz system. It shows the sum of the player's opponents' scores, best and worse scores discarded. In case players are tied by score and tie-break score, they are sorted based on their records relative to one another. This is why Frags came second, because he won against ThinkNice. Word of advice: as a host you want a smooth tournament that is enjoyable for everyone. If you think a rule is at risk for being broken (especially if people are asking for clarification) then state the specifics on it. It makes for a better event overall and people are much happier. Also... Bloo, I find it hard to believe someone else was playing your character since Lyle was so against this yesterday? This isn't even sarcasm but yeah. Super confused. Chestbrah 1 Link to comment
