    I mean its pokemon.. everything you could possibly add to this game will always lead to competitive, look at battle tower and battle frontier. Jesus Christ even Ash Ketchum has been trying to win a pokemon tournament since i was 8..

    The 'majority' are just people that just want to play a pokemon online game, and they say oh hey, this game is cool beat the storymode realize they can't get into the competitive scene due to the sheer grindyness of the game and quit. It's an ignorantly vicious cycle, there is no retention for players nowadays. When's the last time you saw a new player join the "100".
