I don't believe you are getting the point, I believe the current system they use to switch between regions is done by a script and code that checks for the rom, if you don't have the rom the scripted npc won't let you leave. This is a lot easier than adding flying between regions, to do that they would need to create new code for the Map UI to check that emerald is there so they could emulate its map, and I'm sure add checks everytime you fly somewhere to make sure it is emulating the right rom. Thats just speculation, bottom line being, its never as simple adding things in as you may think. If its not a simple process why have them waste time making something you can already do in about a minute by flying to a port city anyways?

  14. I don't think a mechanic like this would be wise, anyone could go about false swiping and sporing; some of the more valued pokemon like Beldum and ditto would take a hit in the market. A better option would simply be to lower the price of an ultra ball, or add bulk sales: buy 30+ and a % is taken off the final price. But even then I don't think that's necessary.

  20. Hello, I'm Coleman, been playing pokemmo sense 2013. Seen a lot of the developement process, ups and downs, and finally decided I would work my way into the community. Not much to really say about me, I'm a bit of a forum hopper; I'm currently studying graphic design and fine arts as my major and love digital art in general. I've made several images and developed for pokemon projects in the past. I have little room on the subject but I think I may disagree with changing the money system, I think if these ideas are implemented and that appropriate rewards are given, money will come naturally with less drag. Staying on the topic of the thread, about the game being mindless, I think all that really needs done are new fun mechanics for players to toy with and proper advertisement for them, like an new ingame news feed saying what daily events are happening or when an event is running low on players. Currently a lot of the mechanics are there, combining what they already have into events or other features could really spice up the gameplay.
  22. I've been around sense 2013, not so much on the forums but on the game here and there; However I am only a magikarp picture with single digit posts so feel free to look past me. I will however avoid suggestions that are already planned features. (to my knowledge) Anyways, Here are some things that I have seen very successful in other mmos, along with some ideas of my own. An interesting new way for players to make money you would be to add automated wager battles, players would go into a battle-tent, wager a fixed amount of money in either a battle factory or regular pvp setting, winner taking all the cash. To encourage more player you could add lower betting amounts ranging from 1k - 5k especially if using a battle factory setting. Automated events, I've seen these on a few mmorpgs, currently we have a hide and seek running via admins, but with automated events you could add in games such as: Chance, surf races, flash tournaments, and Pkmn hide and seek. I will give a description of these down below. Chance: This event consists of a 9x9 room, each room with a number on it. At the start of the event players will have 15 seconds to rush to the room they choose, after 15 seconds a room number is called and everyone in that room is kicked from the event. the timer would start again and players would run to a new room or stay in there current choice, this repeats itself until one person remains. The winner is rewarded with a small payout in event tokens. [spoiler][/spoiler] Surf Races: This event would consist of a few different maps in total to keep it fresh every new game but the rules are the same. Players are set in a map and have to reach the other side of the map before the other players, wild battles would be enabled and running disabled. spawn rates would be low as to not cause to much frustration but still add in the surprise of getting first because the man in front of you got trapped in a battle before he reached the end. 1st 2nd and 3rd place would be rewarded event tokens, and the event would end. Flash tournaments: 8 or 16 players would join this event, assigned random pokemon, they would be pit in a mewtwo pvp like setting, after only one player remains the event ends. "Pokemon hide and seek": This isn't admin hide and seek, this would instead be another random event. Players would start in a map all assigned the same pokemon to find in the wild, This could be one of two ways, first one to find the pokemon wins, or whoever finds the most wins. Those are only 4 examples, but other automated server events may include things that utilize other in-game mechanics like contests, safari, or bike races with strength puzzles and obstacles. Through observation In the past I've noticed randomized events do better, it encourages casual players to participate. Back to some non-automated events or ideas: Setting up a holiday shop that may include holiday furniture and accessories, and then opening up a place for submissions will allow players to have some cool exclusives and also allow some of the artists in the community to express their creative side and generate some player content. Implementing a mining system could allow a more interesting way for players to obtain items they currently grind for. Add more in-depth player cards, allowing other players to view them and see achievements I will explain this one further, the following is a rendition of a players page I had created for an old mmo I worked for [spoiler][/spoiler] We allowed players to view achievements, kills, sparring, time, guild ect. (all with options to hide these features), it was in its self, a trophy, it encouraged players to compete with one another. They would see their friends with higher sparring ratio's and they would try to outdo one another, there was a nice jump in the competitive scene, it freshen things up. This is merely an example. Its been said before but I will elaborate on it a bit more, daily quests are a very nice way to keep things fresh so long as they are somewhat different day by day. For example players may need to give a woman x amount of magikarp or help a man find an item he lost in the area with a itemfinder. Rewards would be varied, but not low enough to discourage players from using them.   24. Hello, I want to first off say thanks for the new region, the work you guys have put in for everyone is outstanding. I was curious as to how future updates may be handled for the features not yet implemented, will they be released in small patches over time much like firered or will everything be bundled up as a whole in a emerald update part2. I'm not asking for dates, just a friendly question regarding the process if your willing to share it at this time :] Thanks for your time, Coleman
