  1. Why do people predict I will get drafted in the first 16? I was not kidding when I said I would be mia during certain periods of time this season. I won’t have access to internet from the 8th of June to the 18th of June and from late July to mid August. If I get picked, please do not overpay for me because I promise you’ll regret it if you think I am going to be there every week.

    Here are my predicts:

    1. LKrenz --> Tranz
    2. DoubleJ --> Axoa
    3. TheChampionMike --> Enchanteur
    4. OldKeith --> Zebra
    5. Elcoolio --> Doc
    6. DoubleJ --> Schuchty
    7. LifeStyle --> Jovi
    8. Yubel --> Guerinf
    9. Yubel --> K9
    10. LifeStyle --> SejuaniSupport
    11. EricTheGreat --> GiantPipe
    12. OldKeith --> BlueBreath
    13. Elcoolio -->  Kimikozen
    14. TheChampionMike --> Lazaaro
    15. EricTheGreat --> Aerun/SweetforU
    16. EricTheGreat --> SweetforU/Aerun

    That's cause I don't need to. What I do know is that sometimes I get criticized for some decisions I make (like playing OU last season against Guerinf or trading for the first pick this one). When I do that, I know the risks I'm taking. In the end they can turn out right or wrong, but if they go wrong, believe me, I will be the first to criticize myself and blame myself for learning from my mistakes and improving.
      That is why I don't need to enter into the trash talking game, I prefer to ignore them and only take into account some constructive criticism.

    For the record, picking OU was the best decision for you guys and that is what we feared the most. We were really hoping you would pick Doubles. The reason why there was criticism on my part regarding that decison is simply because you guys were our opponents. Also, I already know Eric was useless, but thanks for confirming that you were the decision maker.

    252+ SpA Life Orb Alakazam Psychic vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Porygon2: 84-100 (43.7 - 52%) -- 73.8% chance to 2HKO after 1 layer of Spikes and Leftovers recovery

    252+ SpA Life Orb Alakazam Psychic vs. 252 HP / 0+ SpD Ludicolo: 102-121 (54.5 - 64.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after 1 layer of Spikes

    looks like theres a fun ou meta ahead of us.

    It took a decent amount of time to prove that Alakazam was broken in UU, so I believe it is way too early to even consider Zam as broken in a Chanseyless OU meta.

    Kakunas had a multitude of issues that could not be fixed. Several people were not open to getting help with teambuilding and lacked overall motivation to perform well.

    W.e. It is not very relevant what happened to Kakunas. There is still more to a player than his direct performance and that is very noticable with Osuki and Frags.

    Lkrenz gave up a lot for the first pick this season. Did he overpay for the first pick? Well, if you think he didn't overpay, then you are basically admitting that their is huge a gap between pick #1 and pick #2 when we assume Frags will sign up and Osuki won't. If you think he did overpay, then I think you fucked up because, after removing all trades restrictions this season, you decided to take it upon yourself to oversee trades. If in your opinion, LKrenz overpaid, you should have stopped him. I will therefore assume that you don't believe that he overpaid and that you believe there is a fairly relative big gap between pick #1 and pick #2.

    I think you're overestimating how good the #1 and #2 picks are compared to the rest of the picks. I was the #5 pick last season and I beat the #1 and #3 picks in NU, and I beat someone who potentially got help from the #2 pick.

    Osuki and Frags were the top picks for a reason. Beating them that one week in one match up means nothing when they can influence and liftup their team for the better. As far as I know, Frags' team still won against yours.

  6. 2 minutes ago, BurntZebra said:

    You're operating under the assumption that frags just wouldn't sign up at all if the manager he wanted wasn't able to get him, which I don't believe is true, at least not for him. Six seasons of PSL went by, and frags played all of them, and he never went into any of them knowing what manager was going to get him.

    I'm not saying that Frags will not sign up, I am saying that managers have a right to know which they are being denied right now. Is Osuki signing up? Do you know for sure? There is a huge gap between pick #1 and pick #2 if osuki doesn't sign up, just like there would be a huge gap between pick #2 and pick #3 if he did sign up. Managers need to know if they want to make well informed trades.

    It's not really that different than using the auction to get someone you want. Would you prefer someone to spend credits+picks to get the #1 pick to get frags, or someone in an auction to overpay massively for frags (like 40k or something)?

    Ok look at it that way. Everyone is giving shit to LKrenz for overpaying for Frags, but what if another manager was willing to overpay even more for Frags. Why would he not? He would not because LKrenz is in a better position socially to know if Frags will sign up or not. I personally know if my close my friends will sign up like Guerinf and XPLOZ, but most managers don't. I'm not saying my friends are first pick materials, they might or might not be, but the fact that I have sign up information that others don't have is a huge issue regarding sign up bias. If someone overpays for Frags in an auction, well so what? Everyone would have been on an equal playing field which is not the case right now. If a manager believes, based on who he knows has signed up, he will be forced to acquire a player with a perceived poor quality/price ratio unless he trades off his current pick for a worse pick + credits, he would then try to trade off his pick. However, if right after trading off his good pick, a player he would have been really interested in signs up, well he just got utterly fucked because of this broken system. If you want to protect the managers and the competitiveness of PSL, managers need to have the same information.

  8. 1 minute ago, BurntZebra said:

    Realistically, there will be a very small number of people that won't sign up because their bff manager didn't get the #1 or #2 pick, so they might end up on the team they want to.

    It's not about the number of players here. It's about the players's quality. Frags and Osuki have not even signed up and the first pick, as well as the second, has already been traded off. We all know Frags will most likely sign up, but still. The draft system is already unbalanced and now the managers do not even have the same information regarding what player will be participating. Sign up bias has always been a PSL issue that have been brushed off as if it was nothing and it seems this season will be no different :/

    2. The PSL sign ups must be closed before anything regarding the picks happen. Last season, there was some fishy sign ups that happened right after some managers got the picks they wanted.

    Your number 2 suggestion is something I was already planning on doing.

    I am disappointed here @BurntZebra :(

    Edit: It's not too late to do the right thing and cancel this broken draft system for a regular auction.

    There was a large amount of criticism of the competitiveness of OU3 and NU2 last season, and thus I can agree that both could and should be excluded.

    Don't flatter yourself. You have a lot of people kissing your ass, but no that much. Some of the biggest names of PokeMMO's competitive scene have fallen by default to OU3, so let's not bullshit here.

    Furthermore, more often than not, the best PokeMMO players can play more than 1 tier. The UU2 and NU2 players of last season sometimes had to play UU2 or NU2 because there was not enough room in OU. If we didn't have UU2 or NU2 last season, we would have had a lot of competition in OU3. If we stick with 8 tiers, I would love to see LC, but if we can't have LC I would rather see OU3 than UU2 because that's where the competition is.

    Edit:

    As a reminder, here are the tiers you can sign up for:

    PokeMMO OU

    PokeMMO UU

    PokeMMO NU

    PokeMMO Doubles

    Showdown DPP OU

    Showdown Gen 7 SM OU

    PokeMMO LC (if you sign up for this, make sure you sign up for another tier as well)

    This might not change anything, but it certainly doesn't help to have a rule where people can only sign up in LC if they commit to another tier.

    Edit2:

    Best tier distribution imo:

    Spoiler

    OU1

    OU2

    OU3

    UU

    NU

    Trashy Doubles

    LC

    DPP OU

    SM OU

    I am not sold if  4 or 5 good players make a format suitable for vgc. Let's face it, most players got into VGC just to play in the PSL. And most never played it before. It took me one year to learn VGC to a level in which I qualified for Worlds. It's the hardest format to learn by far. I made a longer post about why VGC was bad.

    However LC is easy to learn, but I'd rather see S/M instead.

    This is PSL, not SPL nor Worlds. Per tier, I assume most players are not near SPL or Worlds caliber. I know PSL is a competition, but we need realistic expectations of what is going on here.

  12. 41 minutes ago, OldKeith said:

    No, it actually sucked. Most players had no idea what they were doing.

    Keith, Imabe, Rendiz, Bluebreath, Zigh and Kiz did all great. You probably didnt see what we had to go through when ADV was around because VGC was considerably better compared to that.

    Edit: Also, all the midseason small tournies were bad except for the vgc tournament where a lot of players competed despite the showdown mess that went down.

    Sorry about not having much to say about that then man. But I think that every good player is going to cost a lot of money and if you spend it on the right player, it does your team wonders.

    Also with regards to that analogy, if the younger sibling is better equipped at using a knife than the older one, then I see no reason for the older one to be picked over the younger one. Another thing everyone seems to keep forgetting is that even though there are 8 tiers, all teams will need subs and you can prove yourself to be more than useful by being a sub and then working your way into the starting lineup.

    You can also have subs with 10 tiers. Personally, my week1 lineup was different from my playoffs lineup because I saw that some of my subs were simply better imo than my original players.
