  1. Kyu if you hypothetically add a new gen which rom would you choose to work on?
  2. Yeah but if we start shitposting might as well go all out. If half the gimmicky shit he posted to inflate his argument counts then Growth Venu loses to CM Chansey and so do his awful Jolteon and Espeon sets that were already debunked as unviable in anything but a 1v1 situation. Block Forretress loses to Flamethrower Chansey, Sub Flail Milotic loses to Defense Curl Counter Chansey, etc. This is why defensive Pokemon don't get banned in general. Because people think "Oh it doesn't wall literally everything therefore it's balanced" unlike offensive Pokemon who can break through a lot of things, Smogon calls things as Uber defensive when they "wall a large portion of the metagame" but they never define how large, and they never take into account how Pokemon interact with others. An entire attacking type isn't large enough I guess. I know I got told to stop this, but I literally can't since they are pretty much the same Pokemon: Blissey got banned for having too much use, overshadowing most alternative special walls, and being too safe, Chansey is doing exactly the same thing with around the same usage, you can abuse both of them in the exact same ways people posted itt, in either shitty roundabout ways like "use block perish song rest Misdreavus" or incredibly obvious ways like "send a guts fighting type". The Blissey ban here was pretty much the one time I've seen anyone ban a defensive Pokemon for a reason other than "it makes hazards battles unfair". But if you're gonna retract on the same banning policies the second time it happens then you might as well not have banned it in the first place.
  3. just carry hp ice on literally everything if chansey lets every focus punch by normally special attackers hit it many times over and stays on the things it doesn't wall then this is a realistic scenario too
  4. All of them apply to Blissey and Salamence too surprisingly.
  5. It's simply not cost effective. To fix your boner for gen3 the admins could maybe add some legacy queues limiting stuff to gen3mmo, I guess, but like you said they'd have a very small playerbase. I'd just get over it and accept if a new generation comes. I too miss the era where Milotic didn't exist and my Blaziken would get easy sweeps but I'm not asking for a separate server without Milotic.
  6. It's PokeMMO not 3rdGenMMO People didn't know if they'd like the split or not either, or the addition of Milotic, or the addition of Hoenn starters, or the updated movepools or the meta without Gengar, or whatever either yet those risks paid off. One tier is being fucked silly by an egg, Another one is full of Pokemon that don't have good STAB moves that were implemented in gen4, another one is full of Pokemon that get Cross-Gen evolutions that salvage their lines from being garbage that has to rely on Toxic to deal any real damage. You're acting like MMOs don't do this all the time, WoW has a metric fuckload of expansions, Ragnarok Online had Renewal, Maple Story had Big Bang, there are purists that hate these changes but in the end the majority tends to stick with them. Sorry fam but at this point if the devs want to implement the new generation, they won't let all that work go to waste because a few people, as well as an imaginary number of silent players who want to stay in gen3. Until these really silent players suddenly speak up and overshadow the amount of people who want the new gen I doubt the devs would show a real interest of throwing perhaps months of work down the drain.
  7. tbh your post is better as an argument I just don't wanna discuss this anymore because we'd be just shouting "NUH-UH" or "YUH-UH" at each other for 20 pages without convincing each other at all but that interaction he just cited is just silly, it'd either happen among really close friends or the New Player just so happened to find an ultra douchebag trying to roleplay as Gary Oak trying to roleplay as Chad Thunderuguu Edit:Before actually reading his post I assumed he was calling me out to discuss even more and not just as a citation, forgive me if a mod reads this pls delete that last post
  8. I've doing a small guide in order to ease people into a newer gen if it gets implemented and i've been gone over a lot of new mons and updated mons. Chansey won't be any less OP but it is very likely it will see a lot less usage with stuff like No Guard Machamp, Infernape, Roserade(Who can fulfill a similar role as Growth Venusaur but with Natural Cure), Lucario, Mismagius, Porygon Z, Electivire, Gallade, Staraptor, Gliscor, Poison Heal Breloom, and Mamoswine. It will still be pretty useful due to gaining Stealth Rock and being the only full stop to Yanmega but when it comes to its role as a blanket check to special attackers it remains unmatched (It will get some nice competition from Mantine though, specially if defog gets updated to gen6 mechanics). Alakazam also gains a way to damage it without needing 3 CMs. +1 252 SpA Life Orb Alakazam Focus Blast vs. 4 HP / 252+ SpD Chansey: 192-226 (58.8 - 69.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery. Gen5 would add Conkeldurr, Poison Heal Gliscor, Excadrill as full safe switches, Reuniclus, Chandelure and Serperior as pokemon that can beat it sometimes, Psyshock, but here Chansey gets access to Eviolite so everything goes straight to hell and it becomes almost as physically bulky as Swampert.
  9. If a superior player to yourself has the perfect Tyranitar to counter your team they will beat you? So therefore Tyranitar should be banned? "I literally never had any problem with Tyranitar haha just fun Flygon and Heracross in case it has either ice punch or fire punch" I'm simply dispelling the meme that Chansey is easy set up bait and that literally anything can switch into any Chansey and just set up for free. I'm using the same arguments people use for literally every suspect test I've ever seen "Oh what if Aegislash uses Head Smash on Mandibuzz" "What if Snorlax uses Surf on Rhydon" "What if Gengar is Sub Disable and then poisons Umbreon". They are kinda stretchy arguments and I roll my eyes when I see them but they are realistic scenarios and if these cases are taken into account then so should Chansey's. You have this shitty condescending way of arguing and pretending anyone who wants or supports the banning of some things is "bad" and cannot handle them. Of course I can fuck Chansey sideways and I have enough wallbreakers to deal with Chansey and her most common defensive partners, as well as clerics to fix up any status that gets inflicted on said wallbreakers, the same way I could nail and Hoopa-Unbound in gen6 with Mandibuzz or the same way I use Tapu Lele as set up bait with Volcarona, or the same way I could sleep on any Aegislash in gen 7 with my Toxapex. However being able to handle them doesn't mean they aren't busted. Like I said, I don't believe Chansey should be banned, the same way I don't believe Blissey should be banned, however having one of them banned while the other one remains free is genuinely stupid since the difference in bulk is marginal. But I was already told to drop this particular argument so I'll shut up.
  10. More pokemon, items, moves and abilities while doing the same amount of work on a single rom.
  11. Thunder Wave on the switch makes them incredibly easy to revenge kill and a switch into the physical wall can punish their set up and damage them What if it uses Seismic Toss on the switch instead of a status move? Your drummer is fucked, deals non-threatening damage unless it's Azumarill meaning Chansey can Toss again to either KO or deny your drum and with that a strong win condition is gone like the wind. Useless if Toxic'd on the switch in and the only one pokemon with 204HP subs Chansey would stay on instead of switching into a different wall is Vaporeon. Toxic, needs three growths and a life orb to 2HKO while Chansey can 3HKO with Seismic Toss, I did the whole analysis on why Jolteon is not a good answer to Chansey earlier. Still can function as a specially defensive pivot and takes so little damage from special attacks it doesn't matter. Only really makes it susceptible to special set up sweepers.
  12. When you get the plot of Back to the Future told to you smh. It not "feeling right" is not an argument. Like I said, if you don't like the new generation, don't interact with it. If you want to play gen3 without your brain crossing wires and making you think about how gen4 changed everything you're already in a pretty bad spot since MMO already implemented a lot of gen4 stuff specially the split already. "They might lose some of their playerbase" is also a really bad argument since you can also say they might gain a ton of new players wanting to play a newer gen online. in the end if you're playing MMO for nostalgia value, good for you, but the real charm of MMO is basically being able to play Pokemon with other people online, right now it's gen3 only but never was it said that it'd stay gen3 only, people just assumed it because of rom limitations. To any of this silent playerbase reading this. If MMO adds a new gen, don't downright quit. Continue to play, stick to Hoenn and Kanto only if you feel like it, and just try to bear when someone links their Gallade in chat and imagine it's someone talking about Jumpeon, besides that you wouldn't be interacting with newer mons at all, if after a week it becomes too painful to bear then yeah quit and make sure you let everyone in the forums know that a newer gen mixed with gen3 was akin to incest for you maybe you'll get Kyu to change it back.
  13. Gen4 is over 10 years old, a 21 year old would be "reliving his childhood" just as much gen5 is 7 years old, a 17 year old could be "reliving his childhood" too. When I joined mmo, I joined a team since I needed money, and this team had an organized system where the leader would give the members certain tasks such as catching and confirming (thank god that's gone) 10 31 iv breeders, then we'd breed it into a 5x31 and we'd sell it and he'd pay us some pretty decent cash which helped me jumpstart my comp breeding. This leader, however refused to play in Hoenn, he'd stick around Kanto and make some decent money, and if he had to sell something to someone in Hoenn he'd ask someone from the team to deliver. Eventually he had to quit due to real life reasons however he was consistently one of the richest people i knew in game and he was fairly good at comp despite not really having any Hoenn comps or any interaction with Hoenn at all, so people can very easily ignore the hypothetical newer regions and stick to gen3 regions. I really don't get what this demographic you're referring to does when encountering newer Pokemon. I know the typical "oh shit what is this Rhyperior thing? They ruined Rhydon!" or "What the hell is this "Combee" thing? back in my day we had 3 balls pasted together, none of this hexagon bullshit"reactions however in a lot of cases you can simply use the preevos in lower tiers without any difficulty (hell if they add Eviolite it'd help people who want to use preevos a lot). Using older, lower tiered pokemon in OU is also an option for them and I know damn well it doesn't stop those memers running fucking Pikachu or full NU teams in OU's queue for shits and giggles. tl;dr: If you don't like newer shit then stick to the old one, you're being given the option. It's not like MMO will be gen4/5/8 only from now on, you can still get that "genuine" gen3 feeling unless Kyu sticks Bidoofs in every route of every region or something trolly like that. Comp will be fairly different than before but nobody trying to "recapture the good old days" is playing comp, and if they are then they are in for a disappointing shock since the "good old times" back then when it came to comp were Crocune, DD Tyranitar, Curselax, SkarmBliss, and a ton of stuff that isn't available here anyways.
  14. Kyu has been pretty vocal when it comes to telling people that Johto won't do jackshit in terms of content and it will be a lot of fluff and a whole new region...for people to play against NPCs without having any new Pokemon or moves. From a developer standpoint and as a person who know nothing about how integrating stuff into mmo works I'd probably work on incorporating the BW roms in some way. It's crazy to skip gen4, sure, but if you're gonna incorporate a new generation from the nds games might as well tackle the latest one released so people have access to even more Pokemon and moves and are entertained enough with the new content to shut the hell up about Johto while you work on legendary instances, new hats and similar stuff.
  15. Oh so variety and flexibility as well as strategic depth pales in comparison to 50% Chansey usage and a lot of Pokemon being downright unuseable due to lack of STAB moves.using their primary offensive stat, gotcha

    ~Road to 100m~

If you give me all you have I'll carry the torch for you
  17. MMO meta will still be fairly different from Gen4's meta even after implementing gen4's moves and stuff. Due to how MMO's egg moves work, Azumarill will get access to both Belly Drum and Aqua Jet which it couldn't in gen4 turning it into a deadly sweeper in OU, Mantine would have access to Roost due to how MMO's movepools work making it a worthy specially defensive wall to use, and a pretty decent Hazer as well, Flygon will be played very differently too with Dragon Dance. Sand Stream only makes sand last for 5 turns in MMO so Hippowdon won't be as a influential as he is in gen4. Outrage and Explosion are nerfed here and these two moves were huge in gen4 for either punching holes in walls or gaining momentum. Breloom was literally everywhere in gen4 and gen5 because he'd essentially turn the match into a 6v5 with Spore but here grass types are immune to powder moves making him less valuable and Togekiss won't be as obnoxious to deal with since electric types are immune to paralysis. On top of that we don't have incredibly obnoxious legendaries like Jirachi, Suicune, Entei(He'd play like in gen6 UU) or Cresselia. There's probably a ton of stuff I'm skipping over and we don't even know if it's gen4, gen5 or if we're even getting an actual generation or something completely different though, but mmo's meta will still be "unique".
  18. I figured it out. It's an update to the movepools from gen7. Dragon Dance Flygon and Jump Kick Dodrio hype.
  19. Bruno's Lefties Ice Punch machamp in round 3 is Restalk with Cross Chop
  20. We might be getting Eviolite boys, Blissey may become less aids than Chansey after all.
  21. Just add U-turn I want to use Scizor in OU without it being a shittier Metagross. Also adding gen5 instead of gen4 makes sense since you'd get gen4 mons and stuff as well as gen5 ones. Also get ready He's coming
