I can assign all 12 buttons to any control. I think you need to map your mouse buttons beforehand (using whatever app of the mouse you have) to any keyboard buttons. Mine are assigned to 1234567890)= by default so that's maybe why I'm able to do it. That is just a guess. Maybe someone can help troubleshotting. But it is possible.
