Alakazam is very similiar to Espeon and is a tough poke to stop because of its coverage and extremely high satk stat. A Calm Minding Zam can set up it your face and there are few pokemon which can stop it. Due to Zam's coverage most of its supposed counter are checks. Pursuit trappers which are Dark types get potentially shit on by Signal Beam. On Zam's end, Zam is paper and doesn't have many opportunities to come in, or stay in.

 

Imo if Espeon goes, Zam should go to BL as well. Yes, I'm comparing them.

The UU Council has decided to ban Alakazam to BL (or in the case of PokeMMO to OU).

We feel like Alakazam is banworthy under the Offensive Characteristic as it is able to sweep most of the meta without too much trouble.

Alakazam is too similar to Espeon, so you can look at the Espeon calculations and even add some speed/special attack to it to see what alakazam is able to do.

 

On behalf of the UU Council I'd like to apologize for taking such a long time to make a decision and also thank the community for their patience and input.

 

Alakazam is now banned to BL (OU)
