I understand your point and it was a valid option, but considering that Doubles is one of the "tiers", we didn't think it was right to exclude it completely from this tournament. That's why we chose this intermediate format, which rewards players who know how to play Doubles during the qualification phase without disadvantaging the ones who can't in the finals. Players who are not used to play Doubles can also invest some time in the tier to try and earn points and maybe have a good experience and play it more often in the future. If the result is not ideal, we learn from the experience and probably avoid something similar next time.
