all events that require building a new/unusual team should have the event thread open 3 weeks or so before the event to give people time to prepare. this is meant as a suggestion for the future not criticism.

Often it is not feasible to plan an event that far ahead. For the event to be open and posted, we're talking 3 weeks + preparation time + approval time. 

This can mean referees would have to commit to an event roughly a month in advance and I personally believe that's a lot to ask.

[Team Tournament [February 22]]

This sounds like a joke after watching/participating in the last 20-25 official tournaments, but it's gonna be interesting, let's see how it goes.

(Usually people wall the shit out in important tournaments, and half of the participating staff fall asleep)

 

But I can't wait to see how it goes, hopefully smoothly :D I will be looking forward to it.

 

I won't host a Team Tournament where two matches aren't run simultaneously. With that being said, if a team has won a match (are sitting at 2-0 with a match still playing) I'll be moving as quickly as possible so the unnecessary match will be moved past (sometimes forcibly). 

Players who've participated in Team Tourneys hosted by myself in the past will be familiar with this (hopefully).

 

Regarding the event time, it's dependant upon staff availability and accommodating as many timezones as we can. For the next TT we'll see if we can better accomodate EU.

I won't have this tournament running longer than three hours if I can help it.

There'll be four teams playing simultaneously (hopefully) at all times.

 

will Tournament Mode be used? Or do i need extra Pokemon at level 50?

All matches will be played in tournament mode, yes.

 

 

An odd number of matches is easier to determine outcome
I would prefer 5v5 to 3v3 since it shows more team effort than 3 individuals
So we could do:
Ou
UU
NU
Ou doubles
100s NU doubles

Two problems (that I can immediately identify) with running more than three matches:

Possibility of cutting out new teams (I imagine 5 competitive players each specialising in different tiers is a big ask for a new comp team). I'd like to balance this evenly between new and established teams and I think it's in a good spot right now.

The second is a logistics problem, but realistically there's no way to supervise 10 potential matches (two lots of 5v5) running at once. It would be incredibly chaotic for the host as well (imagining a worst case scenario). I believe the quality of the event would be diminished and not up to the standard that's expected.

Welcome to the Official PokeMMO Team Tournament of February.
These are monthly competitive tournaments where teams can text their kill against each other.
Players battle as teams (3 at a time). Teams can switch out which members compete between rounds.

 

[DD] Dark Dragons will be given the opportunity to defend their title from December. They have earned a registration slot. 

 

 

We will have three types of battles per round. These battles are OU, UU, and NU.
