6. Welcome to the Best Players and Teams of PokeMMO thread. This is a thread started by DoubleJ(J) which collects the statistics from the PokeMMO Hall of Fame and by arbitrary formula ranks the players by the points to a clear list to see who are the best of the best in PokeMMO's Official Tournaments. As JJ said he's too busy to continue his thread I volunteered to take over. As this thread is widely known to most competitive players, I'm going to mainly explain a few changes I'm going to make to this format. First of all the first page emphasizes on Top 20 and on each Top 20 players will have where did their points come from in parenthesis. The formula for this is (Standard Win - Standard 2nd Place - Gimmick Win - Gimmick 2nd Place) and any possible additions such as Master's wins or so on. This also works as a way to see Finals' win rates, how good players are in Gimmicks/Standards and so on. The reason why I selected Top 20 is because below that we're having so many point ties. The Teams section will remain as the same and I will just use JJ's Team descriptions but god help me if someone new makes on the list. And for clearance, here's the formula for the points made by JJ and I will follow it. Scoring for Overall Best Players List was based on the following formula: Master of Masters +3 Master +2 Qualifying Event Champion +2 1st Place Official +2 2nd Place Official +1 1st Place Official Gimmick* +1 2nd Place Official Gimmick* +0.5 1st Place PokeOlympics +1 1st Place Official Sub-Division +1 1st Place of PokeMarathon +1 1st Place of Autumn Cup (whole event, no individual wins) = +5 2nd Place of Autumn Cup (whole event) = +2 *Standard Tournament Criteria and Official Gimmick Event Description
Standard Tournament Criteria 1. The official tournament must be, or a combination of, OU / UU / NU / OU Doubles, it cannot include any other tier such as UU Doubles 2. The official tournament must be 6vs6 it was hosted on or after August 2014 3. The official tournament must not exclude pokemon from the defined tier that is to be played (for example, Johto Cup does not qualify since it excludes #1-151 Pokemon) 4. The official tournament must be 1 player vs 1 player, or a partner's tournament, where each player has to play, or forfeit every round 5. The official tournament must be PVP Only 6. The official tournament must not allow for opportunities to advance a round without a duel, other than a bye (for example, Blaine's Quiz Heats would not qualify) 7. The official tournament may include 100s Singles, if it was hosted on or before August 2014 An Official Gimmick Tournament shall award players with 1.0 points for 1st place and 0.5 points for 2nd place. An Official Gimmick Tournament will be defined as such if it does not meet the above Standard Tournament criteria
7. Except experienced players don't join in for entry fee tournaments because they know the standard policy in this community is to donate a prize as a host. Doing it for the community and for the competitive scene. Obviously, if one does not have enough possessions to donate can you make a "free" tournament and ask for possible donators which I will tell this game has plenty of. Oh yeah, I'm probably getting called a noob too here from you but whatever but that nature and lack of 31 speed makes that hardly even a competitive in the eyes of pretty much all of the experienced comp community. But oh well.
8. Yeah, will do. Ctrl + F is a friend but in case of any overlooks (mostly whether a tournament is gimmick or standard) each player can check for themselves and probably will if they're on the list. Expect new thread to be up and running somewhere next week, turned out to be busier that I thought.
9. No, they don't. LC just won't be a thing in MMO because EV training at lv 5 is an absolute joke and Amnesia Brace is awful. NFE really hasn't itself ever been a "metagame" in any platform like, ever.
10. Actually I was planning to do top 25 but as I got access to JJ's sheets there were so many tied 24s so I'll highlight top 20. However, I could make a lowfont spoiler top 50ish something for the last page.
11. CB Breloom, Superpower, Mach, Bullet Seed, Tpunch would be my #1 set (Adamant max atk speed) but apparently bulky Breloom new meta.
12. Aight I've been a bit busy lately, I'll try to make this going soon(tm)
13. I'm sorry but I have to disagree with this. Getting opponent to reveal their team is helpful and all but shouldn't come with a too much a cost. I appreciate it though. This one, however.. is definitely worth a mention. I think Robo said somewhere "The best way to lose is to be too attached to a Pokemon that underperforms in a battle." which is well, really true. I wish I could find the thread.
14. Mute is pretty redundant. If you don't enjoy what someone is saying or someone is spamming the chat then I don't know why wouldn't you just kick that person. And if you mute someone the chances are that player leaves anyways and this option already screams for 13-year olds with power hunger.
15. Mfw just yesterday I thought of running AG tournament just for teh lulz. @ Noad, Bag Items clause should obviously be enforced to not have a pay to win tourney and Pristine clause is just basically to prevent cheating but real anything goes has no clauses. As it is anything goes it is meant to be not competitive at all and clauses exist to create competitiveness. Even such normal clauses like Species and Evasion doesn't appear there but I'm not sure about Sleep clause. Anyways fast hyper offense and Lum shuts down that too.. Anyways TL;DR include Pristine and Bag Items clause for obvious reasons.
16. What's your favorite "what's your favorite"- thread?
