    About Perish Song:

    On 7/3/2022 at 4:20 AM, SacredDiver said:

    the move seems to be bugged, it only affects the target and not the user or the rest of the horde. In fact, this means that you don't currently need to use any of the two mentioned strategies because only your Pokémon will gain a perish count.

    It's not a bug. I made a ticket about this on October last year and according to the response I got from staff, it's expected behavior for horde battles.

    Feel free to lead with a sync or cute charmer mon without fear.

  2. Some notes for your guide:

    • Red only gives 300k (without charm) the first time you beat him. After that it's much less. The second time, I only got 200k WITH Riches Charm (75%), if I'm not mistaken.
    • Charizard other 2 moves are Focus Blast and Air Slash. It is NOT holding Choice Specs, nor Choice Scarf.
    • Blastoise 4th move is Surf.
    • His Pikachu has boosted stats. It's much faster than normal. Despite not being scarfed, I know that it can at the very least outspeed any non-scarfed 115 base speed Pokémon. Might be based on the Partner Pikachu stats from Let's Go, but haven't confirmed this.

  3. Egg hatching is usually a great time to relax, grab a bite, and inhale some much needed copium while you mostly just wait, having very little interaction with the actual game. But does it have to be that way?

    Sometimes, players just feel like tryharding to the max. Maybe you're fighting for that MVP title in your team's shiny war. Or maybe you're simply the type that hates staying still.

    I noticed that there's a lot of misconception and overall lack of knowledge among the player base regarding how egg hatching actually works. Many seem to think that, for example, the eggs hatching counter halts while the player is in a battle with wild Pokemon, and that horde hunting while hatching is unviable. However, that is not true and, as long as you understand how to properly time it, it is 100% possible to do both at the same time somewhat efficiently. I'll explain how here, as well as provide videos displaying this in action.

    First, we need to talk about when eggs actually hatch in the current version of PokeMMO. For example, let's look at the hatch time of the Pokémon hatched since June 2023, but before Johto's release on 12 August (I'll explain the date stuff later). Notice a pattern? Here are some of mine below as examples, so take a look:

    image.thumb.png.b027f293649b9689280058cbb961991b.png

    Notice how they were all hatched at XX:XX:15? That's obviously not a coincidence.

    Additionally, you can also look at eggs hatched in other timeframes since then, and notice how their hatch times match with the values described below (dates are in UTC, so they might be a day off depending on your timezone):

    • 12 August 2023 to 17 August 2023 -> XX:XX:17
    • 17 August 2023 to 07 September 2023 -> XX:XX:45
    • 07 September 2023 to 19 October 2023 -> XX:XX:09
    • 19 October 2023 to 31 October 2023 -> XX:XX:17
    • 31 October 2023 to 04 November 2023 -> XX:XX:18
    • 04 November 2023 to 29 November 2023 -> XX:XX:23
    • 29 November 2023 to the time of writing this -> XX:XX:48

    So, what is going on here?  I'll explain below what I believe that happens, based on my own testing, and how to take advantage of this quirk.

    1. Each egg has a "clock" which tracks how much time you've spent with it in your party. This clock is halted if it is deposited in a box, but as long as it is in your party, it will keep counting even if you're in a wild Pokémon battle.
    2. Once the egg clock goes past the required threshold, it is ready to hatch (Flame Body and Magma Armor decrease this threshold). However, it does NOT hatch immediately. It needs for the current "cycle" to end. A "cycle" lasts 1 minute (in real life time) and, at the time of writing this, ends at the 48 seconds mark past every minute. So, for example, at 08:30:48,  08:31:48,  08:32:48... and so on. So, we will say that the egg cycle's end time in this case is XX:XX:48.
    3. Once the clock threshold has been met, at every cycle end it will try to hatch, but will ONLY succeed if you're not doing an activity like battling, or during a battle transition, or at a NPC dialog, or healing at the Pokémon Center, etc. So, in this example, if you're not doing any of that at the XX:XX:48 mark, it will hatch. However, if you are in a battle, it won't hatch and will instead wait 1 minute until the next XX:XX:48 mark to try again.

    With this knowledge in mind, you probably realized by now that if you time the moments you're in battle to NOT coincide with the cycle's end, you can hatch eggs without them being delayed even if you do wild battles in the meantime.

    As for the occasional change of the egg cycle's end time, the timing of egg cycles changes whenever the game server restarts. This normally happens when it goes into maintenance for an update, or when it goes down because of some server side error.

    Fortunately, finding the latest egg cycle timing at any point is really easy: all that we need to do is make and hatch a new egg and see what the hatch time ends up being.

    Finally, to demonstrate this behavior in action, I recorded the video below. Here, I show with no cuts from the moment that I create the egg in the daycare, to the moment it hatches, doing several horde battles in-between. Note that when this was recorded, the egg cycle's timing was still XX:XX:15. As you can see, it took the same amount of time it normally does even when you do nothing in the meantime. Notice how, when the clock strikes 16:30:03, I purposely hold off on doing anything until it hits 16:30:15. At that moment, the eggs hatch as expected.

    You can, of course, apply the same logic for things like Safari hunting while hatching eggs as well. This is even more efficient than hordes because, since no Pokémon with Flame Body or Magma Armor learns Sweet Scent, for hordes you need to either only carry 4 eggs at a time, or not use a Flame Body lead Pokémon at all. But Safari is really convenient since you can lead with a Flame Body Pokémon and carry 5 eggs at a time with no issues. In the video below, I show from the moment that I create 5 eggs to the moment they hatch in the Safari Zone. Again, this was recorded when the egg cycle's timing was XX:XX:15. Here, I'm careful to time it so that I'm not in battle at the 16:48:15 mark to allow the eggs to hatch with no delay.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9xCPnNp79A

    So if you apply this to the current egg cycle's timing, you can hatch eggs as normal no matter how many battles you do in the meantime.

    Make and hatch a new egg to check the current egg cycle's end time.

    Thanks for reading through. This information is probably not very relevant for most players, since I bet the majority would still rather just chill while eggs hatch. But since I've had a few people actually show interest in doing this efficiently, I thought I should write a forum guide so I can link it instead of having to re-explain it every time. 😅

  4. This is a list of named locations that can show on the hatched Pokémon information window, like below:

    Some players like to choose hatching locations with fitting names for their Shiny Pokémon.

    Your current location name shows on the top left of the GUI, like this:
