I'm gonna conspiracy here. 6 hours for hardware maintenance, really? Also, I suspect that that is a real torterra, not a missing no that desu told to pull the torterra sprite for. Which means that the dev client pulls pokemon data from the hg/ss rom. I dunno... I'm placing a bet on a new region incoming.

Just like randoms on showdown. Would be fun and would get me playing again. Don't know if there should be a reward system for it. Could allow us to be able to battle with legendaries. There should definitely be a ladder for it so people can brag/feel like they are making progress. If you need people to create sets for each pokemon, I'd be game. Not very busy this summer. Inb4 comments about "why not just play showdown?" The point is that I want to actually spend time in game, and by doing so, it might motivate me to do the other grindy stuff in game. Side note: I'd rather have pvp pokemon contests, but randoms are cool too.

I thought this thread was an appreciation for the great text of our prophet and saviour Senile who died for our sins. But then I was disappointed.
  7. I've seen it be more alive than it is now... They just need a way for players to compete against each other without them having to invest a lot of time to get into the comp scene. Such as have random battles (like showdown), pokemon contests, dungeons (so you could race other players / have speed runs), etc. It's just lacking that little umph that get's people to play every day.

  9. You went to a different region than the one you started in. You must progress through the storyline there (yes, basically a whole different game), until you make it to slateport/vermillion (depending on the region). Once you travel back to your original region, you will find everything that appears to have gone missing. Or, you can continue in the region you are currently in, and you will eventually obtain every key item that you had in the other region.

This is not true and is a very common misconception. The main reason is because you are allowed only 1 copy of software for backup purposes only. The moment you started using it for playing pokemmo, you and I committed copyright infringement. Staff will tell you I'm no lawyer, but I just spent an entire semester studying this shit. To further advance my point: this is from Nintendo's website: Can I Download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I Already Own the Authentic Game? There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet.

if anyone wants to take this guide over, be it staff or someone else, let me know (via PM). It needs maintenance and I'm just too lazy, and it seems like a shame to just let it sit in its current state.

most that I've seen have been under oras (which appears higher up on the list since there are those shiny hunters that actually have viewers). I've never seen a PokeMMO stream with more that 5 viewers though. So, good luck.
  14. yes. In fact the closest thing you could get to this idea, is to have some sort of guild of players that act as a bank. You could start out with taking collateral and then over time a user gains a credit score, which would allow for a lower amount of collateral relative to the cash borrowed... In all honesty though, I thought about this a long time ago and I determined that it simply is just not practical/efficient.

Yeah, having South by Southwest in Austin I get to go and check out all the cool tech stuff that is going on (they also had an exhibit at the Dell Match Play Golf Tournament about a month ago). It's definitely cool, and if I didn't have to buy Textbooks and crap, I would probably get an Oculus Rift. And by primitive, I meant that it really seems like we are on the lowest level of this kind of technology (and that at its core, it's still just a screen in front of your eyes with headphones and motion tracking). The tech that they have put into dealing with motion sickness is actually the most fascinating to me about the current VR equipment. My first exposure to VR was actually from Shark Tank >.< I forget which season it was, but they had a huge massive Guinea Pig Sphere that you could go into while wearing a headset, and it would allow you to "walk" in a virtual world.

Funny little thing happened to me a year ago. I was in one of the UT campus buildings and I saw a book called "Glimpses of Heaven, Visions of Hell" and it was about Virtual Reality (a topic that I am very, very passionate about). I contacted the author of the book (who lives in England) via email, and we talked about VR and it's applications. He was working on VR designed for medical purposes (similar to the medicuboid from SAO, but not at that level), and he talked about how we are probably not gonna see full immersion VR in our lifetimes, which I told him I would devote my life to disprove ;) I love VR a lot (I even did a marketing project on Oculus) and believe we are just scratching the surface of VR at the moment. Once we have a better understanding of the brain and can manipulate certain Neurotransmitters (primarily GABA and glycine which cause Sleep Paralysis), then we could likely create a more immersive and "real" virtual reality. I like to consider the current VR as a fake VR and very primitive. just my thoughts on the subject =P
