JIceJDragon reacted to Kyu in [Denied]Dojo in Saffron
When this suggestion was proposed, the effect was immediate: We dropped everything. Trainer Tower, Reworks, Android, all out the window. We knew it was pertinent that we have this massive piece of content in the game as soon as possible.
4 days with little sleep, caused only by sugar comas, gave us our first prototype. It was gorgeous; Squats 'n Oats were paired for the heaviest of gains, and NPCs were truly aesthetic in a way never before seen. We truly admired our work, so we sat there, 'mirin.
Our core testers were given the build to test against, but only during this did we realise the flaws of our implementation: Things were simply too perfect. Too aesthetic. Our testers refused to leave the Dojo; They were only concerned with their characters' mad gainz. As their characters buffed up, the players' behaviour changed drastically, to where they refused to leave their chairs for even basic bodily functions.
This prototype ended up sending one of our testers to the hospital where, due to a lack of Android support, they were unable to fulfill their newfound addiction. We understood that if this could destroy a tester's ability to perform basic societal functions to maintain their own existence, its effects would be compounded drastically on our younger male userbase.
Unfortunately, we do not believe we will have a less addictive implementation in the future. With that noted, we apologise, but it would be rather bad for business for us to put this prototype on Live.

Well it would be cool if you could use this chat like in a tournament with someone in another team
So you can together and discuss stuff,
or if friends from other teams are having an event
or if any type of event is happening the chat could be used

JIceJDragon reacted to Eggplant in The iPokedex. (The pokedex that does everything.)
Warning: It is lengthy, but half of it is real easy. Don't worry.
The concept of my idea is to improve the pokedex so that you use it more than you use google.
Basically, all I'm asking for is more tabs and text on it.
The pokedex is often defined as a "technological wonder" and it makes people think of the iPhone from 17 years ago. Might as well make it look like it can do more.
The pros for this are so it gives enough information so the user doesn't need to google or ask global chat for most of what he wants.
The cons? None, other than some time consumption.
Here's a list of ideas, but you can find whatever you want.
If you're a dev or something, read at least the first and second list.
Sorta Implementable things, that are just text pretty much:
-Add the evolution method. (Level 30, thunderstone) etc.
-Add the types of pokemon. Sometimes people tend to forget dual types. For now, it doesn't even have to be the type icon, just a character string that says "grass/poison" is enough. It's probably planned but it is missing nevertheless.
-Add the potential abilities a pokemon can have. So you know that when you cuahgt a pokemon, it has another passive that you didn't know about that you may prefer.
-Add a clock on it. That's the main reason any human takes out their iPhone. Could be both in-game and real-life time, but whatever you want. A clock is symbolic. It needs one.
-Add a new tab with an index of all user commands. Because all I know is /w, /unstuck and /time and I'm certain there are many more. You probably have a text file of them, just copy/paste it onto a tab in there.
Maybe implementable, don't know:
-A "currently owned" color for pokemon. Like a darkish red. So there is a difference between "caught" and "caught but don't have it anymore". This way it looks way cooler when you actually own 386 pokemon in your boxes, which is my goal.
If you wanna go crazy:
-A search feature just like in the newer games. So you can search for a aprticular type or order by alphabetical or whatever.
-Add a "seen" pokemon's location on the map (Not urgent as it's difficult but it needs done eventually.)
-A new tab with a TM dex type thing. So that you know what TMs you had but used and forgot and stuff. It would have the same interface as the pokedex tab, except it'd have TMs. There's plenty that can be done with this.
-A more advanced progress bar. I heard achievements were planned, they could fit in a tab in here. You know, with the completion of the pokedex or TM dex. People wouldn't have to compare "seen 42, caught 21, owned 15" all the time, they could just state "10% complete". It could give some sort of easy ranking.
Suggest some more things if you like and tell me what you think.
Once again, the main motivation for this is that the pokedex is underrated, when it shuold be the essence of the storyline and goal of the game. But people are just focused on EVs and battles. Remind them to fill out this thing and to whip it out as often as they whip out their iPhone! :)

3.) Nothing shows up in program window
1.) Make sure you are pressing the scan button and not the rescan button.
2.) Make sure the mouse is in the correct position when pressing the scan button.
3.) Make sure the font has been replaced correctly and pokeMMO has been restarted.
4.) Check to see that after you press scan the tabs are being switched automatically while it scans.
If you cannot tell try going into Tools>Options at the top left of the programs main window and change
both the delay and the click delay to a larger number (200 is a good starting point for both)
If this fixes your issue you can start lowering them by 5/10 to increase the scan speed.
4.) IVs are completely off or not being narrowed down
1.) Make sure you are re-opening the summary window after every level up and that the correct level is displayed.
If your pokemon has gained any EVs at all make sure you restart pokeMMO before scanning and/or use a calculator as the stats are not updated in-game until then.
If neither of these things have happened or you are unsure delete the pokemon and start fresh making sure to follow these steps.
If the data still shows up incorrect please post all information you have about it here.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will you release the source code to this?
A: I have no plans of releasing it anytime soon if at all.
Q: Will you make a mac version?
A: Currently I have no way of doing so but that does not mean I wont in the future. Stay tuned!
Q: What was this written in?
A: This program was written in autoIt(v3) http://www.autoitscr...om/site/autoit/
Q: How do I know this program wont steal my passwords or keylog other information?
A: There is never a way to know for sure whether or not a program will do more than it says it will but here are some steps you can take to protect yourself.
Block the programs access to the internet in windows firewall http://www.technipag...s-firewall.html Run the program in an isolated environment like sandboxie http://www.sandboxie.com/ Scan the program with your virus scanner/anti-spyware and/or https://www.virustotal.com/en/ Let it be known that autoit is notorious for false-positives
A false positive error, commonly called a "false alarm" is a result that indicates a given condition has been fulfilled, when it actually has not been fulfilled. In the case of "crying wolf" – the condition tested for was "is there a wolf near the herd?", the actual result was that there had not been a wolf near the herd. The shepherd wrongly indicated there was one, by calling "Wolf, wolf!".
A false positive error is a Type I error where the test is checking a single condition, and results in an affirmative or negative decision usually designated as "true or false".
Source: http://en.wikipedia....ve#Type_I_error
AutoIt applications sometimes get a false positive report from virus scanners using heuristics, because the application is a self extracting executable.
Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AutoIt
If you use sandboxie make sure to give it as little freedom as possible.
There are many tutorials available on the web. Mainly just disable admin rights and internet access.
These methods may not guarantee a program will not harm your system but they will definitely stop most of them dead in their tracks!
Q: Can I make a donation to you?
A: I'm still not sure about this... I guess send me a PM about it for now if you really want to
Q: Can I add you as a friend in-game?
A: Sure my IGN is Archalias
Q: I got an error message what do I do?
A: Take a screenshot (alt + prt screen) and upload it to an image hosting site like http://imgur.com/
Also open the file DebugData.txt and copy/paste that into http://pastebin.com/
Post both of these in this thread and I'll do everything I can to fix it for you!

Sorry if this post sucks :(

JIceJDragon reacted to Galium in EV training Pokemon List
If you like it then please leave a like, thanks.
UPDATE: JANUARY 13, 2013.
As you may or may not know, yes, I did quit. After seeing that people are still interested in this guide I am beginning to feel guilty that I have not updated it.
Thank you for all the views and thanks over the months, seeing some stupid thing I typed up being received that well and just getting viewed this much blew my mind!
If you're going to be in the Sevii islands use Squall's guide: Link
I'd like to ask that mods consider pinning the other EV guides as well since it's a whole different game from when I played. I'd hate to just straight up delete this thread but it's probably obscenely out of date and probably should be replace by a guide that someone else has written that is up to date. You'd know better than I would about it being informative.
Before you get started you may like to know what EVs actually are. EV stands for 'effort value'. 4 Evs will increase a pokemon stat by 1 point, the maximum amount of EVs in a stat is 255 but the recommended maximum is 252 so you can use the remainder points in another stat. If you want a full guide and explanation of what EVs are you should check somewhere else like bulbapedia.
If you have never played pokemon competitively before and would like to learn more about sets and EV spreads then I would recommend checking out smogon. They have all you need and more on basic cookie cutter
sets. (Sorry for everyone who just cringed)
Also, do not make the mistake of EV training a bad natured pokemon. For example an adamant abra. If you are going to sink the time into EV training, then you need to catch a pokemon with a nature complimentary to the stats you want. For example again a timid alakazam is perfect, as you will be EV training it for SpA and Spe. Here is a link to my preferred natures chart. The - stands for a subtraction of 10% and a + represents a subtraction of 10%. As you can see if you look at the chart timid adds to speed and subtracts from attack. You can also hover your mouse over the pokemon's nature in the pokemon summary to show what it does. I don't like to rely on that, though. Sometimes it's unresponsive.
This is a list of all the places to train EVs. It will tell you what pokemon will give what EVs and where to find them as well as their levels. I will ammend it as new content is released. If you see something wrong, let me know. Even I, the great and powerful Galium-sama-rama-chan-san-kun make mistakes. Also, this is not a natures or how to EV train thread. That's another show guide.
You would be surprised what doesn't give the EVs you thought it would (like weedle, speed what?)
The recommended pokes to train on and the best area to find them will be bolded and highlited in red.
Stat Recommended Area Level of pokemon
Health (HP)
Fat things give HP EVs and it's no coincidence that there is a fat guy sitting next to the pond in viridian. Before surf - Caterpie. After surf - Slowpoke. The pond has only slowpoke and psyduck, so you can get some SpA while you get HP.

Of course slaughtering hugging super kawaii desu ne bugs with big eyes makes you stronger. Why wouldn't it? And if you're wondering "Why paras?" it's because they appear at a 100% rate in the tunnels. An alternate area is behind the safari zone warden's house in fuchsia. Fishing there will always land you a goldeen, seaking or gyarados. (Thanks Tsriel.) Watch out for the psyducks, though. If you want to keep your level low for tourneys, you need to stay at paras.

Good news, everyone! Venonats came way earlier than I expected and now we get to grind on those! They give 1 EV and they're pretty common to boot (30%)! But wait, there's more! Ditto also appear in the same area (and the pokemon mansion basement at a 10% rate) as venonat so you can proceed to catch those in hopes of good natures for breeding (someday). The venonats appear on routes 13, 14 and 15, I recommend going to route 15 for the tasty dittos and close proximity to the pokecenter. After you get surf you can encounter tentacools and it's much easier to grind those than it is to grind venonats. And no, you can't surf into tentacruel until post game.

This one's easy. If you're supereffective against ground go to diglett tunnel. If you're weak to ground and will die to a dig train on route 18 and grind on the birds and rats. If you are a ground type you can go to the powerplant, just avoid the magnemite and magneton as they give SpA. You can put a level 23 pokemon in the front of your party and use one repel to only encounter dugtrio if you want. Heck, even zubat has a use sometimes. Gotta go fast.
