  1. I'll just throw a quick opinion in here. On whether scouting is "competitive" or not: I would argue that defining what is competitive and what is not is based on what kinds of resources or strategies any given player can utilize or at least plan against effectively. Scouting is not one of those things. I've got like 200+ hours in the game and have 7 pokes I can rely on in matchmaking, but only two I would take into a tourney. I simply don't have the money and have screwed up when breeding while learning how all the game's mechanics work. Simply put: There's already an existing barrier to entry for the competitive scene. More notable players with hundreds of perfectly bred pokes will have no issue with scouting as they have teams for any given situation. In my case, while it would be a long shot for me to even win a round in a tournament, I'd much prefer it not exist. If breeding competitive pokemon was cheap or comp teams didnt cost millions, this would be a different discussion. But I don't think any new-ish player like myself would say that scouting is a good thing for us. ESPECIALLY for those of us without teams or a lot of friends who play a lot.
  2. I especially like this idea since some people just AFK when they give up, wasting 3 minutes of your time whenever this occurs. This is a small QOL change I really like. No negatives, only positives.
  3. The altrun? Depends on how good you are at altruns. If you're focusing and are good, it takes like 5-6 hours. If you're netflix&chilling while doing it or its your first few, tack on a couple hours. (Just an educated guesstimate. It took me 7 the last time I did Kanto.)
  4. The update lowers barrier for entry to the comp/tourney scene for newer players. I think everyone can appreciate that the competitive scene is a major reason why this game is arguably better than its competitors, so doing that absolutely will be better overall for it.

    Minor Updates?

It makes the game less of a grind though, which this game desperately needed after the berry update. It will also help newer players get into EV Training/Comp, which is where (in my opinion) the devs need to focus on since its one of the game's biggest strengths
  6. Yeah, Lums are really productive. Got 66 from like 6 trees. The dream.
  7. Part of this is simply supply and demand. Most people don't want to bother with berries because of the time investment and whatnot. I don't blame them. Its annoying. Because of this, demand stayed the same and supply plummeted. Simply put, correcting an EV-Training mistake now takes upwards of 16 hours because of berries. Not only should you be more careful, but now it feels like there's actually a punishment for messing up. That being said, the market WILL correct itself. I see the berries costing like 10k or so in the future, which isnt so terrible. Every day the price will lower as more people farm EV-Reducers until it hits a solid plateau or they change something. People will begin planting EV reducers because there's more money in it, supply will increase, price will settle. Just give it time (or farm.)
  8. Also, I thought I'd make a note on berry farming. Its actually a legit way to make some supplementary cash while using other methods between watering, assuming seeds and berries sell well. (Certain berries will ALWAYS sell, seeds not as much since people don't like bothering with farming) If you're going to sell seeds, here are the how they're priced currently on GTL (3/30). Very Bitter: 3k (awful), Very Sweet: 7-8k, Very Spicy: 6-7k, Very Dry: 10k+ (short supply, check GTL competition before posting). Very spicy, Very Sweet, and Very Dry are the ingrediants for Lum Berries, which is why they're selling for so much. I personally think its better to sell seeds than berries for profit, but berries themselves will of course sell quicker assuming its something commonly used (like Lum, Chesto, EV Berries). Regular seeds are more than likely not worth selling unless you're desperate. My personal method: I use 3 locations. I use route 104, route 120, and route 123. Route 104 Use this area for your best berries which require the most attention. I'm currently mixing Lum and Pomeg (I just need Pomeg because EVs). I will personally use these, do I don't want to screw them up. I may sell a small number of Lum. Once I finish that I'm going to be mixing Chesto and Lum and selling about a quarter of all my yield. This is also where a lot of people hang out while waiting on berries. If you're passively farming and watching Netflix on the side, this is the spot. Otherwise, go make more money, train, or do something else. I usually check watering every hour. Route 120 This is where I put seed fuel. Put quick growing plants here which produce only one kind of seed so you know what you'll yield. One way to beat RNGesus is to simply be redundant as hell with planting as much as possible. I got 60 Very Spicy seeds from these 10 plants in my last run. Worth. (I grew Cheri). Also conveniently by common speed and HP EV training spots. Route 123 I put slow growing, low thirst plants here. Mainly because I hate checking them. You have to go through water and through like 20 tiles of grass to get here. There's a lot of spots though, so its worth it. I have it full of lum and pomeg at the moment. ____________ I check everything once an hour. I usually check between episodes of shows on netflix, or I'll farm Lost Cave for an hour between watering. I only water if it says the ground is moist or worse. (It usually changes to "Almost flooded", which causes no damage to the plant and maximizes the amount of time before it gets "Dry". Once it changes from moist to anything higher, i stop watering.) (EDIT) Quick update: Took about 7 hours but all of my seeds sold, but prices are dropping as everyone thought they would.
  9. OOOH I know. I've got like 20 trees growing Lum right now. Hype. That being said, your guide is awesome. Keep up the great work man, thanks for the dedication.

    Dear devs

I think if some of the less-competitive events were publicized better in game, newer users would find far more things to do.
  11. The berries used in comp will easily be worth picking up. Even if you don't add the price, it may help to say "pick this Lum Berry up" since it sells for 5k and the demand will never be going away anytime soon. They're hell to grow.
  12. As Kay said, its totally random. I've done a lot of Silk Scarf and shard farming recently. In Vermilion, it feels like the pickup rate is around 10% for random items. I get a super potion or some $%&^ like every 5 minutes. I usually get 2-3 shards every hour though. With silk scarfs, its a bit easier (no rock pokemon to screw up Meowth, plus he can learn Shadow Ball) so you'll net a like 4 scarves per hour. Obviously you can be really lucky (or unlucky) and get more or less.
  13. I've realized this now. I'm a bit more adept now (largely because of this guide) at farmville - PokeMMO edition. Excellent job man. This is exactly where people getting into berries should look first. All I would add at this point is the location by Fortree City (Route 120 IIRC). The 3 previously unavailable spots now work making 10 total, it only requires going through 2-3 patches of grass, and I think its closer to Fortree than the 104 patch is from Rustboro. Its where I put berries I'm growing purely for the seeds. I put the berries that require the least attention on route 123, and I ignore the 4-spot patch because I honestly am stupid and can never find it. Doing all that, never sleeping, and marathon watching Daredevil and House of Cards on netflix has net me quite a lot of berries and seeds.
  14. If you could elaborate on what berries give what seeds a bit more, that'd be great. I'm at the point where I need specific seeds and am confused on how this works. Makes me feel stupid when the description says "Very Spicy" and I get normal spicy berries and whatnot.
  15. The person who gave the Silk Scarf in dewford town apparently no longer exists. I've used your guide several times and he's (she's? whatever) been there, so this must have been in the update.
  16. Chansey Lv.50 Bold -- 31 / x / 31 / 24 / 31 / 16 - Aroma Price range?
  17. Also in Hoenn, go west of Maulville. There are two girls with easy pokes.
  18. Excellent guide. I needed shards so I farmed them for a while. In 3 hours (was doing other stuff too, not quite a zombie yet) I got like 3x yellow, 2x red, 6 star dusts, 2 star pieces, 12 super potions, 5 great balls, and a pearl. That being said: This is a kinda abysmal way for making money. Great way to find shards. Decent way to make some pocket change, get shards, train low levels and watch netflix all at once though. Shard prices are just dropping too fast. EDIT: Was using a meowth with payday, was one-shotting just about everything. Ran from corsolas because why bother. EDIT2: Shards dropped so much in price that this may not be a viable way to make money. Simple economics. Supply increased, although it probably needed it. Red shards are now 20k each (used to be 40k each), other shards seemed to have stayed around where they're at. At current (3/30) prices, I made roughly 110k in 3 hours with what I got the other day, plus maybe 20k from payday if I'm lucky and another chunk of change from star pieces and whatnot. If I keep the great balls (why not?) and sell everything else... around 50k per hour of you're lucky. TL;DR go farm berries.
