(PCL) The PokeMMO Challenge League - General Thread
Eipott replied to Quinn010's topic in Unofficial Events
I don't think Emboar was a big factor at all this PCL. Same with Vani. Checked all scouts and the teams we ran in Untiered, they really weren't a big factor at all. So no reason to add a banlist. Banning stuff above cutoff like its done in TCL is usefull, but more seems ridiculous to me. -
Also Rhyperior should be fine in NU imo. The rest should stay banned.

How are we feeling about dugtrio for UU? Yes it is a strong pairing with Pory Z, but is it broken with all the stuff running around in UU? could also be an answer for Raikou.

imagine thinking Gallade's are not in final π -
Tell every player that wants to play to do a round of gymruns. Easy.

And now you divide the 18M to 47 players. Thats about 380k per player, which is like nothing. Also paying 18M without help is no problem at all for some older players.

As I said I like it. It's just very random if you look at the other items. I didn't even question it. -

[WC 6] PokeMMO World Cup 6th Edition - Feedback Thread

I think you should do the Snake Draft for Groups after finishing player signups, since some players were added late to countries they never played before. Also groups with 4 teams sucked, especially if you get both finalists in your group. Last point: Imo you can't void games at all if there is no obvious win trading or trolling happening. You gave China the playoff Spot when they were 4:0 ahead when Mexico might have been able to make the 4:2 happen for a tiebreak scenario. But these are small points: The overall organisation and hosting was great and I enjoyed this wc a lot more than the others: Clear communication, always posting stuff in time, good ideas for increasing the prize pool and recording. Thx for this! -
It's just way more fun to achieve sth. as a team. Winning TT last month was so much hype because we were able to celebrate together and enjoy it as a community. I completely disagree about having a lag of individual tours. You got Ladder, Matchmaking and Automated tours. Also we have stuff like the weekly Pouf Tours for LC, where you can play a tier that has no matchmaking. This is enough for me. Also most pvp teams got team tours and scrims in addition.

Since this is the most likely scenario for our group, I would like to talk about this. I think both options are viable. Option 1 is the playoff format, so it would be a good idea to already play it in the tiebreakers. Option 2 is a bit cooler, since it is less work for the teams and gives some space for tactical stuff, but it is more likely to get another 3-way-tie since there are less matches to play. I already mentioned that both of this options can potentially lead to a tiebreak again. This is my main issue with this solution, but tbh I've thought about this for a whole day and didn't have an idea to solve this without using a lottery in this very unlikely case or go with the seeding, which would give an unfair advantage to the higher rated teams and make upsets harder. Since it is very unlikely to happen, I would just take the risk but go with Option 1 where the risk is a bit lower.

[WC 6] Miles's Picks Extra: WC Controversials

Because you are taking germany as an example for LC. We mainly struggled with LC last season because we had 6 overall players (7 on paper but 1 quit the game) and our only LC player was our only dubs player. For this year gb did a very early announcement of the tiers. We (in this case me) had a lot of time to prepare for LC Meta and since LC is a single tier I think most of the battle skills are transferable, you just need to get into teambuilding. We even ended up picking LC in the qualifier because our LC Prep was a counterteam to the team OU ran in the first game. Overall LC isn't a problem if you are invested in the game + different to last worldcup we are able to recrute players if we miss a tier. Last year they had to pause 1 year before switching the country.
