  1. I don't recall who said it earlier in regards to not making the vanities tradable, but here's just a quick idea 1. Make the vanities tradable 2. Make the vanities limited to that season only 3. Reduce the cost of earning the vanities 4. Allow players to farm multiple of the vanity item, not just one The reduced point requirement allows laddering to be a real money-making method, as it would be the only way to farm these limiteds. You create separate vanities that are untradable & limited, only given to those who place top-100. And finally, untradable limiteds for those who place top-10. How does this help, and what affect does this have on lower tiers? If 1,000 people are farming the OU limited, but only 200 are farming the UU limited, the price *should* be higher, resulting in more profit for UU players. PvE players who want to make profit as well will likely choose one of the lower, more valuable tiers. We earn more money, we incentivize PvE players to play every tier, and we get more limited items into the game for people to invest in, while still having those untradable vanities exclusive to those who finish on the leaderboard. The biggest negative is that this relies heavily on the limited items not looking like garbage, and after 2 seasons of the current system I'm not confident in them being able to make multiple attractive vanity items.
  2. The most frustrating thing about this is the excuse is always 'this would break the economy' when speaking about PvP rewards. Devs didn't care when everyone was farming 5m+ per day using their awful berry system, taking them months to even address it. 2 years later & we still haven't recovered from the inflation that was caused. For 2 years the best way to earn money is to generate new money into the game using NPCs & gym leaders, further increasing the inflation. They do not care about the economy or how people earn their money, it's only an excuse not to give PvP players any meaningful reward. We've complained about the rewards for years now, and although the new MM system was an improvement, the rewards are still lackluster with little value. Every wealthy player in this game has so much money to the point they don't know what to spend it on, due to PvE, GTL flipping, & the shiny market. Yet trying to even things out & give PvP players a chance in this economy will somehow break it?
  3. Maybe this is a hot take, but I'm not going to spend millions building teams & hours grinding lower tiers for a squirrel headband. This is something I'd expect to see in a PokeMart for $2500, not a 'reward' for grinding the ladder. Until we stop seeing things like this, lower tiers will never have a chance to succeed.
  4. This game has 2 main kinds of community members; Those who are new(ish) and actively put time/effort into the game, and those who are old, bored, and bitter. (I'm #2) A lot of older players have pretty much done everything there is to do, so they just lurk forums/discord while shiny hunting/playing PvP/afking. I find that surrounding yourself with people who share the same experience/personality as you do will make the game a lot more enjoyable. If you're new to the game, you don't have to worry about content. There's enough to get a few hundred hours of enjoyment, but afterwards the game is carried by the social aspects, such as friends/teams/discords.
  5. The fact that this thread is 30 days old with no official response is quite ironic
  6. I'd sacrifice kyu for an event
  7. There's no way I'm the only one who thinks this is reasonable though right? (Assuming your math is all accurate) PvE players are OK with spending 8 hours grinding gyms & farming berries, but when you ask them to PvP for an hour, now we're going too far? Going off of your math, a 50% winrate would still only be around an hour & a half per day, which in no way is unreasonable to ask of. A common argument used is that some people don't have the time to play for an hour every day, OK. I don't have the time to grind RS anymore, so should I just get all the skill capes because I... want them? What about WoW mounts people have grinded years for, should they hand them to me because I think they look cool but don't have time to grind bosses? Personally I'm fine either way they go with this, but I'd just like to retain the rarity & value of these items, especially considering (imo) they don't look that great, so there's no point going for them otherwise.
  8. You don't have to be the best to earn the reward, you can still earn it, just not at the same pace as the #1 player. How is this not fair to you? You have 3 months per season to earn it, not sure why you're trying to do it in 4-5 days as you said earlier. As I mentioned in the other thread, I see this as a big problem. I'm not on the leaderboard so I can't test it myself, but the purpose of this update would be meaningless if you are still only getting 2 points
  9. Yeah that's definitely an issue. I'm hoping this isn't how it was intended, but if so, further changes will definitely need to be looked into. I assumed when it said points scale depending on elo, that would mean the #2 player would earn, let's say, 5 points per win compared to the usual 2.
  10. Maybe this is harsh, and not a direct attack at you, but you should not have a 157/155 win/loss record and expect to get the same reward as the #1 OU player. Sure, you have to grind more or improve at PvP, but you still have the ability to earn the same rewards, just at a slower pace.
  11. How many points are you earning for wins? I thought they scaled depending on elo and last time I checked you were #2 in UU, it shouldn't take 625 wins
  12. This is a change that promotes people to put in effort and increase their elo, rather than continue to grind low-ladder without trying to get any better. I think it'll hurt casual players who want the rewards, but will be good in the long run for 'forcing' these casual players to actually try. Casual players essentially have 3 options now 1. Get better 2. Continue to grind low-ladder with slower progress towards the reward 3. Give up Obviously #3 is not ideal, but I think this is quite fair considering these are PvP rewards for PvP players. This system is not complete and they will continue to tweak the requirements/payouts so it's best to just give it some time to test before asking for change.
  13. They changed how many points you earn based on your elo, so I assume they had to scale the requirements so the good players don't get all the rewards in 2 days of playing.
  14. shinyhunterjoe has a negative win/loss record but will get the super special reward in 2 weeks
  15. I'm desperate for the hats to have some sort of value, and I fear shinyhunterjoe bringing sceptile to low ladder & eventually winning 250 games will hurt that
  16. I agree, the 5 likes on your post mean my opinion is invalid
  17. That's a good portion of the ladder at this point. Just because your old man bones can't handle logging in more than 2 times a week, doesn't mean everyone is like that
  18. Not a fan of this imo I feel the goal should be to keep 'casual' players interested in PvP for as long as possible. It keeps matchmaking alive, and will make it so people normally not interested in PvP find themselves improving & actually enjoying the competitive side. I have friends who have zero interest in pvp already having 25+ wins. I guarantee they play for 2 weeks, get the vanity, and never play again.
  19. You gain 2 points per win and the cost is 1000, so it's 500 wins
  20. That averages to about 6 wins per day, which isn't unreasonable imo. They also stated there would be rewards for players based on their leaderboard position at the end of each season, combined with the seasonal tournaments. So even if you don't like the vanity items, there are other things to grind towards. I think we should give it a season before looking to change things, considering some players have 40+ wins in just 2 days and we still don't know what exactly the rewards are for leaderboard position/seasonal tournaments
  21. you're crying about not being good enough to earn a pink hat I don't know if pvp players are the snowflakes here
