    One Year Later

Back in my day of April 2012, there were no wild encounters because there was no battling. Those were really the days. We had created Habbo Hotel 4.0 with a Kanto backdrop, and these August players have no idea what they were missing.
  2. I've shut down many of these before, mainly because they were ignorant rants. I'll put it this way, though: We don't wave a wand and make code appear. This is a small development team consisting of 3-4 people at any given time. There are weeks where stuff doesn't happen, or there are weeks where we don't have anything public to show because the work isn't suitable for public release. Whether it be working on tools, GM stuff you don't care about/will never interact with, or features that aren't complete, there are some times where there is nothing to show you. Not only is there a good chunk of time where there is nothing to show you, but updates are an extremely stressful time for us. Development stops for a week after the game has been updated to look for brand new issues / things we missed in QA / exploits caused by functionality. Then, once we have addressed the most critical issues with supplemental patches, we get back to our main development plans while we continue to squash issues we introduced during the last update. I'll also point out that this game runs on a strict budget and that bandwidth is always a concern. We serve tens of thousands of active players while pushing towards a few million registered accounts, and every client update pushed to the public costs us money. We try to cram as much into a single update in order to make it cost-efficient for us, both in time and money. I am not against making what we are working on public (and I believe a few GMs wanted to do so in the upcoming Podcast revival) as long as it does not have the potential to ruin the current game if people find out about it early, isn't anything confidential, and is confirmed to be working and would be suitable for deployment. The last part being the most important, in my opinion, which is why we go silent for a while after an update, regarding development plans. We don't want to set ourselves up for failure with promises to work on things which just don't happen in the next patch. So, as a tl;dr: No. There are several reasons it is this way, namely because of: Bandwidth, stress, and a genuine lack of things to show you at some times. Weekly updates complicates the development cycle for us, and updates will be deployed when we believe that we have enough content created to justify it.
  3. Correct. XD Move Tutor moves can be inherited via Breeding from the Father.
  4. Will consider it. We're currently looking to rework the game corner's slots, so this may be able to fit into the plans. We would be selling RNG rates on the server, the same as Shiny rates & EXP rates.
  5. I will make this explicitly clear: SimonSoul was removed from his moderator position because it was not believed that he was a good fit for it. No, he was not permanently banned, it is policy to revoke access to GM characters until an Administrator is available to revoke staff tags while the person is online. Making a fit on the forums does not make us reconsider removals or bans, under any circumstance.
  6. Congratulations to DoctorPBC for winning 1st and kizhaz for coming in 2nd place! Thank you to everyone who participated!
  7. No, it's actually not. We use that message for multiple things (Whispers, Social lists, Guild invites, etc.). A better way to deal with it would be to move it into a popup, rather than create multiple message types for the same message.
  8. Game client traffic is already encrypted. Please do not be needlessly paranoid.
  9. We don't like giving you information for free. A better implementation (which would reward breeders) would be to show moves after you have passed them, but in some cases that is 60+ moves per Pokemon, a huge amount of data to track per character. We cannot realistically track this info server-side, meaning parts of the pokedex would need to be purely client side, and vulnerable to cheats with some reverse engineering. So, this situation would need to be a community effort to track and maintain lists of moves.
  10. No. We are not going to give you whisper spam functionality, and there are no plans for hotjoined chat channels in the near future.

    The Mystery box Thread

It was a previously unused cosmetic which was deprecated after the coloured version was drawn. It, along with a few other hats, are only available from the Mystery Box.
  12. It does, and "reputation" systems (or any system where users moderate themselves) are usually corrupt. Even if it's something as simple as the "like" function on the Forums, people take meaningless internet points way too seriously and try to find ways to boost their internet points. With the ability to register multiple accounts in-game, players could easily artificially inflate their own internet point #. This would force us to oversee meaningless internet point exchanges, which means more work for nearly no reward. We will not be giving people the tools to either ostracise or put each other on a pedestal in-game.

    The Mystery box Thread

It could be anything! It could even be a Mystery Box!
  14. We would do a PIN system on character login. Having to enter another password when doing any action in-game is ridiculous.
  15. This is pretty much what I suggested a month ago, before breeding came out, but it never got done for various reasons. I agree that egg hatching mechanics need to be changed, and that we'll probably do something like this for the future.
  16. There's no point to it. The current system works, and the +25% rate is a more significant boost than 100% Magic Find in GW2 for certain items.
  17. Was planned, just didn't get done this update. Expect it Soon™
  18. OU/UU/NU tiers are arbitrarily decided by the community, not us. Doing so would imply that we make our own OU/UU/NU tier listings (which we do not) and these would need to constantly be changed as the game continues to be worked on, with new moves and abilities.
  19. Eggs don't have legs nor eyeballs to direct their rolling.
  20. No. Not only does this violate the privacy of the Staff, it gives people a clear indicator as to when to cheat. We don't always want you to know when we're around, for various reasons. What we are doing is making it easier to contact Staff, via an in-game Support system. Details on that will be available next patch.
  21. As we do not write the forum software, we can't really do anything about it. You can pitch the idea on the IP.Board Forums at http://community.invisionpower.com/ Regarding moderation, you can PM any Global Moderator, point them to the topic your post was removed, and get an answer as to why your post was removed.
  22. Please wait up to 24h for your donation to process. If your Reward Points have still not arrived in 24h, create an inquiry on the PokeMMO Donation Page using the "Chat Online" button at the bottom left.
  23. This is what your RSE patch sounds like on the updated music engine, each town being allocated a 30s time slot, @ 70% music volume: https://soundcloud.com/kyu-pokemmo/pokemmo-sound-test-18-06-13 Very sparse in some areas. The "less noise" will not be a necessity in the future, although I can see some people using it.
