Catch rate overall just not fair

juangarcia

Question

Am I the only one who always has to throw dozens and dozens of poke, great, ultra, and timer balls at pokemon WHILE they have 0.4% - 0.8% HP AND the sleep status affect applied? Seriously cannot begin to calculate the wasted time and money thrown away into what should have been simply fair catching of pokemon. On top of the rate of catching the mon being so unlikely on top of that the IV's of the pokemon rarely ever justify the means at which it took to cost them, this is just my experience, I must be the only one right? Is there ever going to be a buff to any ball ? Or a nerf to the rate of not catching mons?

Species catch rates are largely the same as the mainline games with the exception of the Beldum line and legendaries/mythicals which we made easier, and alphas which are special and intended to be difficult. A few specialty balls function a bit differently to prevent them from outclassing everything else, but overall it's about as fair as the originals.

Try using the move soak and throwing a net ball. You can thank me later.

have starters (particularly later stage evos) been changed to a lower catch rate from a 45 catch rate in the base games? According to calcs 1 hp soak sleep net ball should be a 100% catch but according to some players they've had it fail.

Forgot about those tweaks, nice catch. The middle and final evo starters are slightly harder to catch than the base evos. This was done both for thematic reasons and to incentivize mass catching their lower leveled prevos instead whose catch rates are untouched.

Thanks for the confirmation. is it possible to give us the exact rate that's used for them?

Middle evolutions are 30 (same as Chatot) and final evolutions are 15 (same as Volcarona). We felt that these numbers better suited them as the middle evos spawn at the same encounter rates as their prevos (still 45 catch rate).

@Rache I have a question regarding the catchrate of alphas, does it vary depending on the species or is it the same for all alphas no matter which Pokémon it is? I haven't really noticed a difference between them, I'm just curious :3

It's the same (10) for all of them with the exception of the lv100 Tyranitar which is a bit harder.
