Notes:

  • Do not AFK Timeout your opponent unless your referee has stated you may.
  • Disconnecting during a match will result in a DQ.
  • Do not block your opponents, or the Staff running the Event. If there is evidence of this and disregarding staff requesting you to unblock said individuals you will be DQ'd.
  • Volpi Clause (requesting to change channels for your matches) will not be allowed for this tournament. Entrants are encouraged to uncheck "Render Overworld in Battle". (Menu -> Settings -> Video).
  • Due to a recent post by Desu (link), it has been decided that any occurrences of the 'Battle Freeze' bug will result in a DQ; This is because it is actively avoidable when following the necessary steps and slows down the pace of a tournament. Please be read the post before participating and be sure to follow what is said to avoid this situation happening to you.
  • Once your match is called you will have 10 minutes to report to the table. A 5 minute warning will be given to you via whisper if you are not at the table. No time extensions will be given.

Might wanna remove the Diglett and Dugtrio from allowed Pokemon just to prevent any confusion. Also, might be just me but I think Bdrum Sitrus Berry Espeed Linoone is just way too much for this "meta".

Why Salamence is uncompetitive for Speed Tournament.

By definition, a speed tier is, well, fast, and people rely on checks rather than counters, predicting rather than walling. In the end the player who wins the most speed ties becomes the champion.

However, there is a problem in this tier: Salamence. As many of you already know, a variant of this pokemon is being used as a wall, due to the new access to the move WISH.

Here are some calculations so you can see why it breaks/dominates this tournament:

Choice Band Adamant Kangaskhan Double-Edge (after intimidate) 37.6% - 44.6%

Choice Band Adamant Tauros Double-Edge (after intimidate) 38.6% - 46%

Choice Band Jolly Aerodactyl Rock Slide (after intimidate) 45.5% - 54.5%

Choice Band Jolly Crobat Sludge Bomb (after intimidate) 20.8% - 25.2%

Choice Band Jolly Dodrio Double-Edge (after intimidate) 37.6% - 44.6%

Choice Band Arcanine Hidden Power Rock (after intimidate) 32.7% - 38.6%

Choice Band Adamant Slaking Double-Edge (after intimidate) 54% - 63.9%

Choice Band Raticate (Guts Activated) Facade (after intimidate) 58.4% - 69.8%

Now, it is up to the hosts to decide. The stalling potential of Salamence is obvious, and it can hit hard back with Dragon Claw, Hidden Power Flying, Brick Break, Fire Blast, Hydro Pump, etc, while simply healing itself with Wish/Protect.

The thing about Linoone is that in this metagame it shouldn't Speed invest - it should max HP invest. Due to Sitrus Berry recovery with 252 HP nothing really does in this meta more than 75% to it (other than Choice Banders which you shouldn't set up against) making the Belly Drum possible. After that it's just all priority and I calced that even Aero won't necessarily live a Espeed from it so nothing will. There is a way to stop this: priority like Fake Out from Persian and Kangaskhan or because of the lack of speed investment Espeed from Arcanine or Quick Attack from Dodrio will deal with this thing but after you have taken those out it's a free sweep for your Linoone. Basically you are required to run these mentioned Pokemon and save them with all costs just because Linoone won't Extremespeed your whole team to oblivion.

Might be just me but I find that really unpleasant for a meta, even for a gimmick.

Oh yeah, the calc. Dat coin toss, kek.

+6 Linoone ExtremeSpeed vs. Aerodactyl: 141-167 (90.9 - 107.7%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

XSpeed > Quick Attack in priority so no Dodrio

Better prepare a Pressure Protect bulky Aero for it

Extremespeed works quite special kind of way in Generation 3, making the +2 priority basically mean nothing in singles.

Generations II to IV

ExtremeSpeed inflicts damage and is an increased priority move. If the target does not use an increased priority move during the round that it is used, ExtremeSpeed will go first regardless of the user's or target's speed. If the target also uses a move with an increased priority of +1 during the same round that the user uses ExtremeSpeed, the attack order of the users will be determined normally. If the user is put to sleep or frozen during the round that ExtremeSpeed is (or is attempted to be) used, ExtremeSpeed's increased speed priority will not be reset. Subsequently, it will only be reset on the turn after the user wakes up or is defrosted, or if the user switches out.

Generation V

ExtremeSpeed now has +2 priority.

Not sure if it has been intentionally made to work later gen mechanics but at least some months ago that wasn't the case.

+3.  Endure, Fake Out, Follow Me
+2.  ExtremeSpeed,

-2.   None
-3.   Focus Punch
-4.   Revenge
-5.   Counter, Mirror Coat
