iron def / amnesia / rest / toxic. thats 16/16/24/32 pp. rest=4 turns per one rest pp, so thats 136 turns off stall. literally nothing but perish trappers and a few set up pokes can break this. if you bring a cb poke slowking will laugh

That is insane, ugly way to play but insane at the end, no one should play like that but maybe we have to be ready for someone playing with this moveset

Scizor with Swords Dance+Fury Cutter beats that set though, hue.

Right now I'm seeing:

  • Arguments to move it to BL with reasoning
  • Arguments to keep it UU with no reasoning

Slowking's CM set can easily set up on a majority of the pokemon which it stops due to its great defensive stats and typing. Once a Slowking gets going it is tough to stop. The tier really does not have much for Surf/Psychic spam with Calm Minds, but UU is also abundant with toxic users. Slack off is clearly the superior HP recovery move, but exposes it to toxic. However, it is also abundant with clerics. I don't consider toxic as completely reliable for taking down King anyway, it is only a status move. It rather forces it out. I'm on the edge with determining whether it meets the criteria to be moved up and for what reason. I realize it is an important counter/check to a few powerhouses which possibly result more bans, but that is irrelevant. I want to see more solid discussion with less posts about surskit (what kind of fgt would post that).

Yeah, I agree with the zebra.

 

Sure, once poisoned, we can argue that a cleric will heal it. But, at the same time, the attacking player has an obligation to put pressure on the cleric, otherwise he will be punished.

Art asked for my opinion on this the other day and I was kinda vague so I'll provide a better responce now (sorry Art ;- ;)

 

Lets have a go:

  • It has access to instant recovery.
  • It has access to Calm Mind For the Special Bulk and extra power. (Or Amnesia if you prefer)
  • It has 202 HP / 145 Def+ stats as Bold Lv 50. 
  • Resists the popular Hitmonlees Blaze Kick & Mach/Superpower
  • How do you take it down? Toxic. Which encourages a playstyle of stall.

Bulky Misdreavus can probably pit off against Slowking pretty well be it either Curse or Calm Mind, given it can Taunt it, Pain Split it for recovery, Toxic it if it decides to have it, or wear it down with Super Effective Shadow Ball if it has nothing else to do, as much as it doesn't do too much. That it also gets Perish Song to stop it from getting too far on things. I'd also say that Misdreavus also shuts down most of Slowking's synergetic clerics that are listed, such as against Chansey and Vileplume.

I suppose Absol's frail, but it still fares pretty good, and if necessary, can Taunt it, and debate it into either dying on the spot to Megahorn or switching out and dying due to Pursuit.

Taunt Hypno with Toxic also seems satisfactory. Stops it's recovery and boosts, healing with Wish if necessary, and taking it's hits comfortably. Umbreon can probably do the same thing but better, so I'll only calc Hypno.

Depending on what move it has for coverage, doesn't Quagsire seem ideal for walling Surf/Flamethrower or Fire Blast variants? Not that it takes a boost Psychic comfortably, but you get the picture. Unlike other Water types that resist this combo, it can actually deal damage back but setting up Curse and hammering with Earthquake I suppose. It can Haze too, but I suppose that's not too relevant. 

 

I'm not really convinced it's banworthy, but I guess we'll see.
