Why shouldn't veteran players get an perks? Obviously they are committed and have more invested than others..

Also maybe since this channel would be exclusive ordinary players might stick around longer because they want access which means more donations

You didn't actually address my point at all. I never said veteran players shouldn't get any perks. The problem comes when you address at what point the player has invested enough to get the perk.

I'll put it this way, I'm almost at 1000 hours of gameplay, I've been playing the game since last August. Those at 100 hours, I consider as new to the game, unless ofcourse they've been mostly around the forums this whole time. Giving a channel whos only restriction is 100 hours of gameplay is negligable to me, I do not consider this channel a perk. Similarily, if someone had 10000 hours of gameplay they would consider me new to the game and a restriction of 1000 hours of gameplay would be negligable to them.

Proof of this? Global. You need to have a number of badges before you can post there. Those with 100 hours of gameplay find this negligable so this is suggested, why? Because the perk of Global doesn't feel like a perk to them.

This is pretty ridiculous, to be honest. It's a lot of flowery language, and it's worded quite well. But, you're really just saying that it is impossible to find the correct amount of hours as a requirement, and even if you do, it is unfair to people with more hours that don't get additional perks. Well, here's some information for you :

1. The staff decides when you can post in global
2. The staff decides when you can post in channel
3. The staff decides when you can post in trade
4. The staff decides when you can post in the suggestion forum
5. The staff decides when you can view certain subforums
6. The staff can decide when you can join channel 9.

Lets seperate these silly theoretical models from reality. Is it impossible, anywhere at all, to give a small perk to the people who stick around? I get free stuff from movie theaters, coffee shops, sandwich shops, restaurants, and sports venues for free, because of my continued purchase of their services. I don't think anyone has complained about requiring me to buy more sub sandwiches. And getting a free sandwich does feel like a perk to me.

The staff decide stuff, I know this and still don't see your point with that list. It's not impossible to find the correct value, it's just impractical. I'm sorry if you find the words I type to be 'flowery', but I don't really see the link between the way I type normally and the point I bring to the table.

Nothing silly or theoretical about something already in the game. The big difference between your real life example and the game is that the real life stuff keeps giving you perks, you get more and more the longer you stick with them. And you're not buying the channel, but you are buying the sandwiches to get the free ones.

There is nothing impractical about deciding what works and implementing it. You have yet to say why the correct value is impractical. You just expect me to believe that it must be. And to the sandwich example, who cares? Not every perk has to be on a ladder system. If you're old, you get a senior discount at Denny's Diner. I don't gradually get better discounts every 10 years.

Because the correct value is contantly changing, the longer the game runs, the more time can be spent in game and the higher the hours the cap should be at to appease more veteran players.

If you're making an example of a specific perk, you must use one in the same perk type. Allowing access to a place once a criteria is met is a different kind of perk then granting extra items for buying items or getting something cheaper time and time again for meeting a criteria. They're inherently different.

Once again, this is not truly a "Veteran" channel. Please refer the first post. Channel 9 Is meant as a perk to players who stick around and to supply them with a higher quality channel. The hour requirement does not need to be raised as time goes on. You're also severely confused about how a perk system must be set up; You believe it must fit into some mold that you are comfortable with for some reason. That's very illogical. If a system works, the mold is unnecessary. However if you need a real life example, here goes it : After some months were spent working for the Disney Company, my uncle was able to take me to any Disney theme park for free and go anywhere I wanted. You're not going to win this argument.

I don't see this benig necessary. You can just turn of Global and if you don't like channelchat you can chat with your team. If you don't have a team go find one (yes I know :( ).
[/quote]
Yes, but I want a good channel chat. Wouldn't a channel chat feed where experienced players a actually want to talk be a great improvement? Also there are many people I would love to chat with, outside of my team. I'm sure you thought the same thing.

There we go, a useable example. I used the term Veteran to refer to older players, as I stated previously older players would find the perk negligable, it was not in reference to your channel type. The perk would need to be raised or supplimented by a further perk as older players stick with the game even longer then they have already. I made no mention of a 'mold' as you say, I pointed out that an example of a perk must be the same as the perk it is an example of, extra sandwiches are not an example of area access, the Disney park example is though. Also I never requested a real life example, you were the first to go to real life for an example. My example was the global access restriction, I could also have used the Suggestion Forum access restriction as an example but I felt the chat channel example was more relevant to a channel suggestion.

Anyway, you've given me an example of this system working. I still feel this sytem is flawed but I wont press the point further.

Even if there was a "veteran channel", is not like some guys wouldn't troll... I mean I know some people dislike and totally hate the leroth face "( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)" but it wouldn't keep me from not doing it, even on "veteran" channel (which would be awesome as a "metagame"/versus channel I guess)

100 hours isn't hard btw (I dunno, have like 600+ hours and only really played 150 or so, chat is amazing)

That aside it seems completely unnecessary and would be abused, I also consider 100 hours play time to be quite short in comparison to what I would call a 'Veteran'.

It's unlikely to happen, I can understand why it might be something you think is a good idea, but all it does is allow people to become elitist.
