Perfect Breeding Costs

Hey, champ in the making! Here we will explore the detailed costs of your next breeding project. To begin with, if you are new to the breeding mechanics, the best place to start from is Gilan's guide. Before you start, make sure to double-check your Egg Groups.

The method used will be the simple and (hopefully most) efficient one: Start from a female of the desired Species, with the desired Egg Moves, Nature and assumed 0x31 IVs. Please note that this is a worst case scenario of breeding, in which your wild breeds are all 1x31. In reality you may skip some of these steps if you catch a 2x31. We will ignore the price of pokeballs used for 0x31 wild catches, because they greatly vary (100 pokeballs cost 20,000, so they are not THAT expensive). But from there on, every detail is calculated.

The 0x31 natured female is bred with pre-prepared males of 1x31, 2x31, 3x31, 4x31, 5x31 and 6x31, using everstone+brace on each breed. It depends how many 31s you need, if you only need a 4x31 natured comp, you stop after the 4x31 male.

Thanks to PandaJJ, we have now estimated the average number of wild catches and associated costs required, on average, to ensure we have all the 1x31s we need for each step.

Each rectangle is a 1x31, 2x31 up to 6x31 MALE of the desired EGG GROUP.

Start with a 0x31 FEMALE with egg moves ($600 for 3 pokeballs, parents and baby). Gender Selection +1.

Pass the nature to the EGG MOVE FEMALE ($400 for 2 pokeballs, father and baby, 1 everstone). Gender Selection +1.

Preliminary total $1,000 + 1 everstone + 2 gender selections.

IV Breeding will commence:

Each breed will obtain you an additional 1x31, and the MALE breed always has to have 1 more 31 than the FEMALE.

Add the cost of each male in rectangles, depending on how many 31s you need.

Add the cost of a pokeball ($200) for each breed, for the baby.

Add 1 everstone and $15,000 (brace) for each breed.

Add female gender selection cost for each breed, excluding the last one.

A 2x31 comp (e.g. Diglett) costs:

1,000 + 1,200 + 37,400 + 400 + 30,000 + 3 everstones + 3 gender selections = $70,000 + 3 everstones + $0/ $15,000/ $27,000/ $63,000 (gender rarity) =

$70,000-133,000 + 3 everstones

A 3x31 comp (e.g. Shuckle) costs:

1,000 + 1,200 + 37,400 + 104,600 + 600 + 45,000 + 4 everstones + 4 gender selections = $189,800 + 4 everstones + $0/ $20,000/ $36,000/ $84,000 (gender rarity) =

$189,800-273,800 + 4 eversones

A 4x31 comp (e.g. Chansey) costs:

1,000 + 1,200 + 37,400 + 104,600 + 239,200 + 800 + 60,000 + 5 everstones + 5 gender selections = $444,200 + 5 everstones + $0/ $25,000/ $45,000/ $105,000 (gender rarity) =

$444,200-549,200 + 5 everstones

A 5x31 comp (most common) costs:

1,000 + 1,200 + 37,400 + 104,600 + 239,200 + 508,400 + 1,000 + 75,000 + 6 everstones + 6 gender selections = $967,800 + 6 everstones + $0/ $30,000/ $54,000/ $126,000 (gender rarity) =

$967,800-1,093,800 + 6 everstones

A 6x31 comp (any mixed attacker) costs:

1,000 + 1,200 + 37,400 + 104,600 + 239,200 + 508,400 + 1,047,000 + 1,200 + 90,000 + 7 everstones + 7 gender selections = $2,030,000 + 7 everstones + $0/ $35,000/ $63,000/ $147,000 (gender rarity) =

$2,030,000-2,177,000 + 7 everstones

Same goes for Hidden power breeding. Same costs, just replace the desired IV with 30. In some cases, one stat is negligible, making you able to breed for a 5xIV pokemon, but in the other times you will need full control of all 6 IVs.

I noticed some minor mistakes/costs I have overseen. Not affecting the overall costs that much though, but I will correct them once I come up with a rough wild catch total pokeball cost estimation.

Things to add:

Cost for obtaining a 0x31 natured female, depending on the gender choice cost.

Cost for female-only pokemon.

Individual total cost outcomes for gender rarity.

Cost of estimated average wild catches required to obtain all 1x31 breeders required (rough).

Thanks Keith, this is quite impressive. But did you take in consideration getting the 1x31s? Spending the balls on that?

Thanks and yes, it is on a to-do list. The total additions will not be that substantial, maybe 50-100k more at most.

I noticed u put the everstones as free into the equation which maybe why it costs me so much to make a comp lol

Because everstones do not have a set value and they can vary depending on demand and supply, I did not assign them a value. You can farm them, unlike the other breeding elements (braces, pokeballs). An everstone is roughly 20k if you really want to buy them, and only 6 everstones for a 5x31 is not that much imo.

very nice post keith 10/10. this is a great accompanying guide to go beside yours with the "part II egg groups".

I support this, the breeding is requiered to have lower cost, to allow lower levels player use of it...

These are the cost considering you have to start with 64x1x31 pokes, which isnt needed for many pokes, having said that 31 is only needed in 2 or 3 of the stats. conclusion you maybe need like 200-300k per comp to make.
