I know some players may call hax on some unlucky rng, there is no way to avoid it, no matter the game or event. As i have talked and thought about this format of event, i think im shelving this for the moment and ill focus on an event type that is (i think) much better: Quiz events! I would love to hear your thoughts about this one.

The players! Challengers form a queue, so when/if they lose to the current King, they can return to the end of the line to try again. The order of the battles will be chosen at the beginning of the tournament. The first King will be chosen randomly, but they start with no win.

Understood. This is just a rough sketch of one of the event ideas i have that (in theory) could be made official. I can make a fully developed version of this in the coming days, if there is interest for it. Of course, it would take a lot more time than that for it to be made perfect, but im willing to make that time and effort if my staff collegues would be willing to provide feedback.

1. How often do we host the event?
I think the best method would be a daily event or once a week. It would not require 4 staff members to assume to role of a leader every time, 1-2 would be enough as well IF it is a regular event. An event post would be made for the players where they can see when and which member are available to battle. Players could sign up to those dates. Here is a rough example:
The term 'daily event' might sound scary at first, but if every staff member would participate once a month, we would be pretty close to that. Signing up for the event would also reduce waiting times and frustration; players who have signed up would be more patient, since they know they would definitely have a chance to battle. And if they miss it, there is still a chance for them to sign up to the staff member they like (or they dont like [: ) at a different time.
2. Are the rewards enough?
The duration of the battles could be managed with timers to avoid stall or inactive players. Rewards are not something i extensively thought about, this is open for ideas. My suggestion would be poke-money, since it is easy and quick to trasfer to the victor, so players would not have to wait long between games. BUT the motivation for players would not (only) be the prize money, but the opportunity to battle staff members and show off their skills to us and each other. Also bragging rights (:
While i know this is something that would require a lot of extra work to do and needs time to be fully understood by players, but i think it would give a twist the to current roster of official events. Most players love when staff members interact with them. Even if it would not make it as a regular event, i think this would make a good one-time opportunity, where every staff member could chose a date, when they would accept signed up players to battle with them.
As a sidenote i would like to tell you that i made this post with one thought in mind: motivation. Regular official events motivate players with the prize. Unofficial events motivate players because they are new and different than the regular grind. Some examples: racing, quiz, contest and different styles of battle.
Tl.dr.: Current official events motivate with prize, not gameplay

Hello everyone!
As some of you may know, im a big fan of Events in the game. I think they add a certain twist to the daily grind and reward different types of players. But i feel they have become a tiny bit stale, so here is one of my ideas to freshen up the events roster.
GYM/E4 Battle Extra
Staff members assume the role of Extra GYM leaders;
- They pick a type and place, where they stay and recieve challengers within a certain timeframe.
- At least 1 staff member per region, can only have 1 pokemon differing from chosen type. but sharing thematic
- Winners get some prize money (10k?) and/or typed items. One player can win only once.
This type of event would increase player-staff interaction, strengthening the bond with the playerbase. It would give an exciting challenge for both the players and staff members.
This was just a basic draft of the idea, but i would love to know what you think about it! Would you assume the role of a GYM leader? Do you have any questions/suggestions? Please dont hold back, share your opinions (: Thanks!
