You can't have community without communication..

The problem isn't that there isn't Christmas event.
The problem is that the devs leave the community guessing and arguing and going by these "rumors" that always start to circulate in these cases.
It just creates pointless arguments, when one side is guessing reasons for why there isn't christmas event and the other side is guessing reasons for why it's delayed or might still come.
 
Not really good for the community nor how the players view the devs.
And all this uncertainty and bickering could've been easily avoided with just one simple forum post...

Im so sorry to announce it but récent updates done, has made it very hard for Phone users to find routes
Let s tale for example thé easiest région to farm, kanto, i must learn where routes are by heart, if not i need to go from city to city and see where Kids or ghosts are
U have made à great location mark for alphas, why doesnt this be applied for Kids, vampires or ghosts.. It Will help players very much for this 8 Day farm, and make it less messages in global (i dont argue about searchin in global, it s fun..)

Mr. Fuji has invited players from around the region to take part in his event 'Who's that Pokemon?'. He has decided he needs to a new apprentice who would eventually take over his Pokémon house when he retires. This event is the perfect way to test the knowledge of those wishing to take his place.

Rules:
Every round a Pokemon will be described, you will have to guess what Pokemon is being described. When you think you know which Pokemon it is, you'll will have to go and capture that Pokemon and submit it by linking it into channel chat(channel 4 only!). Participants can enter up to 3 Pokemon per round and no more. The first participant to submit the correct Pokemon will win the round. This event will have 10 rounds. Pokemon must be your OT and caught during the round it was described in. Pre-/Evolutions of the requested species will not be accepted as winning entry Attempts to cheat will result in disqualification Event information will be broadcast over English Channel 4 chat You may only win up to 2 total rounds maximum. Players can enter the event with only one account/character. All Pokemon I will be thinking of can be caught in the Kanto region  
 
Descriptions will be 1 trait the targeted Pokemon has (looks/typing/Pokedex description etc). Should no participant be able to give the correct Pokemon, the host will give another hint, repeating this until a player has submitted the correct Pokemon.

Hey, it's another one of these again. No, please don't run away yet.
 
As the title implies, this post is to initiate discussion about the current event system in PokeMMO. My concern (that I've been feeling for a good while) has been that the events in PokeMMO have been far too identical to each other to really be interesting anymore. Another tournament, just with a different shiny prize. Another catch event, just some different specie to catch. Another Scavenger Hunt but apparently we haven't been catching Flying-types yet.
 
People who have been around for a while know that this hasn't been always the case. PokeMMO used to have a plethora what we used to call "gimmick tournaments" with custom rulesets, some of which were great and some that... could have used some more thought. But in both cases, I've come to realize those kinds of events were the ones to keep the game interesting. It utilized this game's uniqueness - the MMO aspect. Having nothing but automated tournaments doesn't really set this game noticeably apart from, let's say "Smogon tournaments". Rather than spectating the games with just username, you have a customizable avatar to watch games with. That's how it feels, really.
 
What I'm suggesting you could do is to revive what we used to call "gimmick tournaments" at least in some form and host these events somewhere in the overworld, in an actual location in the game. If you need ideas, I mean there were all kinds of attempts (STAB-tournaments, monotype-tournaments, trivia-PvP combinations etc) so there were plenty of things that were fun that could be revived. And I wouldn't even care if you tried something completely new, even if it is something silly, just to try out if a concept works. Even unsuccessful attempts of something "weird" would keep this game more interesting.

It is clear this shift happened largely due to automated battle system. There is no doubt the successful implementation of both automated tournament system as well as matchmaking improved the quality of this game by a lot. But it also slightly killed the soul of the old PokeMMO, which is what I've come to realize initially kept me in this game to begin with. If this soul could be demonstrated also to new players, I think it could improve the player experience by a lot.
 
I've participated in this kind of discussion briefly in some unofficial conversation channels and a common concern against these kinds of non-automated events is that people don't really read PokeMMO Forums, so automated tournaments are the only way to get a reasonable amount of participation in today's PokeMMO. But I think a way to avoid this is to implement a functional event calendar inside PokeMMO client that lists all the upcoming events of PokeMMO (not just PvP-events) and it directs to a forum post that explains the full ruleset to players and directs them to signup. This way players do not have to active forum readers to take part of these events and they can get the information of events already from in-game client.
 
I do also recognize having custom rulesets have become less implementable because the average playerbase of PokeMMO doesn't speak just English anymore. But these events could be hosted to all kinds of language groups in the game. Even just a couple of custom ruleset tournaments per month would keep this game far more interesting than it is now, in my opinion. 
 
Also, I am aware this requires effort from staff members to happen. In order to have these events, there would be staff members to have willingness and time to host all of this and I recognize it isn't small work. But just come up with any event idea you as staff members consider fun and different and I'm sure it will be well received by the playerbase because as I said, I think we really need something new and different to this game. Ign: Transendence
 
During the 187th cosmic battle between Palkia and Dialga, long before Sinnoh was even considered a region, a powerful but evil spirit was created in the world. It was called "the Absurd" because everything and everyone it touched lost all emotion and will. These alarmed the pokemon Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf because no matter how much emotion and will they placed in humans and pokemon, everything was sucked out by the Absurd.
 
One lone human and his Ninetails, Fina went on a quest to summon the pokemon god, Arceus in order to save the world. Collecting all his plates and placing them on Mt. Coronet, he played the Azure Flute and called the pokemon god. Seeing everything he made good turning into evil, Arceus asked the human what was happening in the world. The human told him the story and asked Arceus to destroy the absurd and save the world. But the Absurd was too strong to destroy. The more energy Arceus let out, all the more the Absurd started growing.
 
Taking the matter into his own hands, the lone human and his Fina charged at the Spirit and began fusing with the Spirit. Arceus then created a rift between time and space and pushed the human, along with Fina, and The Absurd in a torn dimension.
 
As the three of them started merging, there was only sadness and pain in the heart of the lone human. This sadness then turned into nothingness, and this nothingness created Giratina, the abomination, the pokemon that transcended time and space. Giratina wandered around the torn and distorted world for centuries, seeing it mirror reality into twisted forms and states. For centuries, he waited and until— until team Galactic caused the 188th fight between Dialga and Palkia.
 
When Cyrus summoned the gods of time and space, along with the pokemon of Spirit it was a chance to escape the world of distortion. However, he was defeat and was turned back to human, and the evil energy that once controlled him managed to disappear. 
 
After the long battle, he and his Fina was transported back on top of Mt. Coronet, confused but hopeful to explore the world anew. When asked who his name was, he can only answer "Transendence", he who transcended time and space and survived.
