this is actually a good idea, now i just need to write some more stuff so bear doesnt delete my post again. it makes a lot more sense to have sweet scent work this way than how it currently does.

Titles are a staple in MMO games. In World of Warcraft, they are mainly used as a visual indicator of achievements in-game be they related to raiding, map exploration or PvP. In RuneScape3 they are obtained in very much the same way, but there are also other titles that can be bought from the gift store. 
 
I think titles would be a great addition to this game as they would offer different avenues down which tournament prizes could be directed. NikhilR mentioned the other day in the economy discussion thread that the main way to incentivise him to enter more tournaments would be to add different prizes that would give him more clout and allow him to stand out more than unusable 2x31 4x25 shiny prizes do, and given the general feeling of dissatisfaction towards current tournament rewards, I think this would be nothing but a unique and well-received addition. 
 
Moving away from tournament prizes, untradeable titles would also be a great way to accrue more donations from the gift shop without wreaking havoc on the economy and sparking up more and more explosive discussion threads. Moreover, titles would be a great way to offer some primitive form of achievement hunting in this game as they could be applied to things like completing the OT Pokedex (e.g. being awarded the title "X the Knowledgeable" upon completion), and also shiny hunting (e.g. "Bug Catcher Y" after obtaining 3 shinies in the bug egg group, or "Z the Jonulo Wannabe" after collecting 20 in total).
 
Maybe this is just another suggestion of "something that could be good but would never be a priority", but I feel like something even as simple as titles could innovate the scarce end-game content that we do have whilst also benefiting the people who spend their lives developing this game. Gimme your thoughts.
