Haha yeah it happens to me too, but as long as you disable "render overworld during battle" in your settings, the lag should get better once you spectate/start to play your match Link to comment

You may be able to reduce delays by tweaking your 'Video' Settings by going to Menu > Settings > Video. It would require a great deal of lag to cause the AFK button to pop up without giving you the chance to select your move, which is why we have decided to enforce this rule in the hopes of speeding up tournaments.
