    Professor's Assistant
    The Professor's Assistant is an NPC in all regions' Research Labs who is researching Hidden Abilities This NPC now gives an Ability Patch for Starters after the player has finished a Region's OT Dex. This item unlocks the Hidden Ability rare attribute for whichever monster you choose. Players who have completed the Regional OT Dex can claim 1 Ability Patch (Fire/Grass/Water) from each of these locations: Kanto: Professor Oak's Lab (Pallet Town) Hoenn: Professor Birch's Lab (Littleroot Town) Unova: Professor Juniper's Lab (Nuvema Town) Sinnoh: Professor Rowan's Lab (Sandgem Town) Please note, the item given will correspond to whichever starter you chose in the region

    2 months ago, a few of our more attentive players noticed that March 29th 2022 would be the 10th anniversary of the forums coming online. As a brief history lesson for everyone, the first public test of the game started a few weeks later in April 2012, then the "alpha" (now known as PokeMMO Epsilon™) was released in June 2012.
     
    While originally we were just planning on a large content update to commemorate the date, maybe throw in some massive tournament or something, we had the brilliant idea to instead make a one-time event outside of what we call "event season"- the period of Halloween/Christmas/Chinese New Year where we normally don't permit large, breaking changes so as to not interrupt the events by leaving you with an unplayable video game. "Get hyped" we said, because it'd be good.
     
    Then, despite our better judgment, we doubled down by not only giving ourselves a deadline to come up with something and get it out, but a public deadline. Several in fact, and we've managed to blow all of them in a fantastic fashion.
     
    Today marks the date of our 4th deadline being missed, and I'm happy to announce that we're commemorating this feat of project logistics by releasing the Torch & Pitchfork Seasonal items.
     

     
    These items will be available until the next update releases. We expect that to be Soon™ish, probably around Two Weeks™, but we're giving ourselves some leeway so we don't need to make more announcements about announcements.
     
    When we get there, this will also be an unusual update process. We'll be breaking it into a 3 part series:
    The major, fragile changes will occur before the event. This will be our launch of the open beta iOS client, general changes like moveset updates, bug fixes, and a large suite of scripting changes to help us support future regions. A few days later, after we're sure that the game's not completely busted, the event will start. Finally, after the event ends, a new permanent feature will launch. We'll keep that one a surprise for now.

    1, Because it's fun. And who are you to tell people on how to enjoy MMOs? I've played MMOs where the whole point is role-playing Just because people aren't farming then they're playing the game wrong? And how does the random battle reduce the lifespan of the game? A game which is already 7 years old, mind you. Yeah, new players interested in the mode would just make an account and play it and eventually quit, but what about old players? They play for a bit then what? They'll quit too? Hell no, they're just going to go back to whatever they were doing before the update, whether that's farming shinies or PvP or just socializing. This update isn't going to kill the game.
     
    2. UU, NU and Doubles already has a small playerbase. And new players aren't interested in that. They almost always jump straight into OU. LC was deleted because it didn't have enough players.
     
    3. Pretty sure they made the rewards less because the devs didn't want random battles to replace traitional PvP.
     
    Random battles is a great way for players who are interested in PvP but don't want to invest time and money on making a competitive team. You think that's a bad thing but it really isn't. Not everyone wants to spend 400k-600k per pokemon on making a comp team. And if they want a new team? They gotta spend more money.
    I got bored VERY quickly playing OU after investing a lot on my team. I made a new for UU and NU team but also got bored because I was just using the same team every single time. There was no variety. Random battle is a nice change of pace.

    Not the leader pokemon with Intimidate but hordes with it... like Stantler hordes in Abundant Shrine
    And it will be better if the the animation can also be optimized when you are training your leader pokemon with Intimidate ability against hordes.

    Oh yea, the ultra shinies. They are the new kind of shinies in Sword and Shield. They are known as "Square shinies" because of the square-like pattern that sparkles instead of the usual star sparkle

    no because the way pokemmo is set up is that all 4 games act seperate where you can only play 1 game at time.only your progress like money ,your pokes, your items is connected.
    There is a reason why key items in your bag , HMs are not shared but unique for each game.And for that same reason you cant fly or surf between games.There is no map of emerald while your playing firered on your townmap.They would need to custom make that.
    Connecting all games even just in part would require alot of work when its much easier the way its done right now.
    Maybe if they custom add all town maps from other games to each specific game.And code each city town where you can fly to other games to do the same thing that happens when you take boat to change rom.Lots of work for that.

    The matter with the Pokemmo GTL is very simple, and it's that practically all breeders for sale are products of luck.
     
    The market never regulates itself. The thing with a market (generalizing) is that people put things up for sale according to the work applied in their production.
    I.E. if a car is worth so many millions it is not because someone thought it was cool to to sell it at that price, it was that it cost to produce it. But things like individual breeders don't require any work, just luck.
    I can spend a whole hour looking for breeders and not finding anything, and another guy can find 5 in a row in half a minute. How and who determines that value? In a market nobody tells you how much money to sell things for, you decide. I can sell my 6x0 magikarp for 40 millions and nobody can tell me anything, not even the guy who would buy it. If I have been very lucky with breeders, I sell them as I want.

    This is how monopolies actually work, a giant like Coke/Coca-Cola produces so much soda and distributes it in so many countries that is capable of monopolize the market, not just deciding how much soft drinks should be sold for, but absorb or destroy your competition. Something similar happens in pokemmo, lucky people monopolize the market. Adam Smith, who was the greatest philosopher of capitalism, said that the market was regulated by an 'invisible hand', he was an idealist. Something that doesn't happen in real life. Less in a game where we get everything according to a probability.

    I don't think that its a good idea to increase the shiny odds from 1/30000 to something lower. Besides, its all about luck. If you want to shiny hunt, go ahead  but you need one thing; patience.

    I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to be in most of your shoes, but it will never surprise me that some people won't admit that they dropped the ball with this by letting these items back in the first place.  It's also not surprising that the moment you introduce any element of luck into this game, that there will be a few who are willing to exploit it to its fullest (for example how Wobba-Rain was spammed).
     
    There is hardly any utility in bringing back these items, and if there were any, its utility is heavily outweighed by the negative aspects it brings.  The only utility it can serve is by possibly making some sets more viable, but at the expense of completely negating another player's already well-built team.  I've seen games where a Cloyster is able to beat a +2 Physical Defense boosted Reuniclus just by flinching its way through with Kings Rock.  
     
    Just because these items weren't banned in Smogon, doesn't mean that they should've been unbanned here in MMO.  One possible reason as to why it wasn't banned in Smogon is because these luck-based items are rarely used.  The reason for their lack of usage is because there is a stigma associated with running cheap strategies like this, and it's one of the best ways for someone to overlook your skill level and thereby not get picked for a team tournament.  Players there are on a higher skill-level and most have respect for the game to not settle down for such strats.  The reason its usage is picking up here in MMO is because rather than educating newer players on how to get better by properly playing the game in order to reduce the skill-gap between themselves and a higher skilled player,  the ability to use these luck-based items is a quick-fix in reducing that gap because you can skip the "playing better
     part to the "victory" part.  Players here also don't suffer any form or backlash or repercussion for running such strategies other than losing a few points on the ladder.  These very same players are probably ones who ladder casually and have nothing to lose while the hard-working players lose valuable time spent in grinding / teambuilding / playing to get better.
     
    Re-introducing these items simply added more external factors into a game that we cannot control and we already had enough of that as is.

    This has already been suggested countless times.
    I agree with implementing the legendaries but not the method ... There are other good options, such as simply capturing them in certain areas of the game, or as a pvp reward (Although that could bring imbalance between new and old players).
    I do not agree that they cannot be used in tournaments, that is, for something the game is divided into tiers ... Ubers would be playable and in OU there would be very good pokémon like Heatran or Celebi giving more variety.

    The ability to poof a shiny into existence, no matter what price tag you put on it, is a very quick way to completely destroy the game's shiny economy. Even if it's untradeable, it still has an impact as the species becomes less rare/special among the playerbase as more and more people obtain them. It causes the demand to go down as people get what they want without the tradeable supply going down alongside it, resulting in reduced value. A lot of a rare shiny's demand also comes from how few of them there are in the world. This suggestion sets a hard ceiling on the value of tradeable shinies too - why pay more (current market price) for one with random OT/IVs when you can spend less buying enough RP vouchers to instantly make one that meets your standards yourself?
     
    It's not as harmless as it seems. Anything that translates to "shinies are easier to get" and/or "more people have rare shinies now" is going to have a very significant impact on their value.
