Title: A Call for Colored Masks: Why Colored is Better Than Golden

Hello, I appreciate a lot the design of Pokemmo masks at first,

I hope my message can be well received. I wanted to express my thoughts on the recent trend of golden masks in your releases. While the Golden Dragon Mask was certainly a hit when it first came out, it's becoming increasingly clear that the novelty of the golden color has worn off with the subsequent releases of the Golden Tiger Mask and Golden Rabbit Mask.

As a player, I'm feeling that the golden color is starting to look cliché, and many of my fellow players share the same sentiment. We would love to see a new wave of colored masks that offer a fresh and unique look for our avatars. While the psychic bird mask has a cool color, we're craving more diversity and creativity in the mask designs.

Therefore, I'm urging you to consider creating colored masks for your upcoming releases. They don't necessarily need to be colorable, but rather have a variety of colors to choose from. I believe this would add more excitement and appeal to your cosmetics line, and make it stand out from the current sea of golden masks.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my request, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with in the future.

    Best regards,

    MightyMichele

    Hi Michele,

There will be plenty of non-golden masks available in the future, however the Golden masks are specifically part of an ongoing Lunar New Year set.

  2. Hi all.

Firstly, I'd like to apologize on behalf the team on the delay of receiving your prizes - and additionally for the general delay in a response to this thread.

I had seen it shortly after it went up, but wanted to gather additional information from everyone involved before responding.

Things have been held back somewhat due to the work being done on upcoming game areas (something you're aware of, I know), as well as some miscommunication from within the staff - something that has now been rectified.

It wasn't until recently that we had the ability to properly split an existing vanity item up into a 'custom' one, which was required to make a team cup for each respective year.

Now to be clear, I understand this is neither directly relevant to you, nor are you expected to sympathize or care for the reasoning, but I didn't want to make a post without at least providing you with an explanation.

For information you do care about, I come here with this:

    image.gif.b0bb1aa52d7a4026eb2004d459a53c73.gif

This is the design for the 1st place Cup of the Year trophy, which features an animated globe.

This design was chosen due to a year being a complete planetary cycle, and thus it was given an animation as it needed to be decidedly more flashy.

It's still in the process of being worked on, but should be finished soon.

The 2nd and 3rd places are similar, as you would expect, in the same vein as the regular Team Tournament prizes.

We are going to endeavor to get these vanities out to you as soon as possible, which may be possible in an upcoming supplementary patch (client update).

If that does not turn out to be possible, and on the assumption that they're finished in full, it will have to be done during the next server update (when the game goes down for maintenance).

I hope this at least answers some of your questions, and I want to ensure you that making sure we get these out to you is currently at the top of my priority list.

  3. These items are as of yet unreleased.

I have no additional comment currently as to if or when they might be released in the future.

I have however seen a recent insurgence of players who are digging into the games files in an effort to see what's behind the curtain, and I can't really blame them for this given how easily accessible some of this stuff is, however I would like to state that just because something exists within the games files is not a guarantee that it will see a release, or that they will be released/used in traditional ways.

    I hope this helps.

Hey all, the capes that came out are a very cool design but I am just not a fan of the colors. I was just wondering is there a reason anyone knows why they would not make them colorable? I will say they are a larger vanity and maybe putting more than two options could take lots of time, but I think tons more players would end up buying limited vanities if they could choose the color they wanted. Let me know and hope to see more in the future!

Well aside from wanting some sort of 'standard of quality' with the colors of the design (which is the primary reason some items are not made colorable), many limited vanities use special layering such as the 'night' layer, which parts of them able to glow - something which is true of the recent capes/hats.

Due to its darker nature, the color black does not fare well with being allowed to be 'glow-able', as you can see here:

and this is another reason we don't allow any parts of an item which glow to be colorable.

Would be nice if these assets were exposed to the community like the UI sprites so people could make asset swaps, but I don't know if that's in the cards at all.

    It isn't; sorry.

I don't mean to brush you off, but we have no plans to make the player sprites 'mod-able'.

There likely are some players out there (yourself included) who might prefer the style of later generations - just as there are some which might prefer the style of earlier generations.

Because a majority of our supported games use the current style, and the majority of the available NPC characters we're able to load also exist in the current style (some characters from Emerald aside), this one was chosen.

In this sense, B/W is an outlier, but the sprite style is not significantly different from our current style that it looks out of place (again something we had considered at the time of us upgrading from the previous art style).

The only way I could see us handling this request is to have a separate set of vanities which use a different style displayed depending on the current game you have loaded, but this would double the work required to create each vanity, as we'd then need another set of sprites for each supported style; this isn't really feasible due to not only the work involved, but also because it would double the file size of our character asset library, and require double the testing to ensure it all worked correctly.

I can appreciate your desire for things to be visually consistent (I noticed your post above pixel density, and that resonates with me a lot), and it's something that I'd certainly like, but this is the compromise that was chosen at the time, and I still believe it to be the best choice for the art direction of the player characters today.

This isn't really possible (in a way that looks good) without a significant redesign of the item. It currently uses a non-standard green to match the miniboss it's based on, and uses some midtones between green and yellow to blend the lion into the backsprite.

Just adding to this, we also lack a system in which we could assign it a default color properly, which is a requirement for it to keep being green at all.

Generally speaking to avoid poor color clashes I'll make any non-colorable parts surrounding colorable parts of an item white, which this isn't.

That seems like a good course of action than my initial thoughts.

PokeMMO is a 10 year old game in my opinion the time is what makes that a successful game, there is a great difficulty to find something to suggest that is not going to be a unnecessary extra work that is not going to provide anything new. I can see that my suggestion is kind of repetitive of what already is btw thank you for pointing this out.

Well, please don't take this as a statement of anything like this going ahead, but speaking mechanically - realistically the only way we could do this is automating the team tournament system, that way there is no burden on staff members to keep adding/removing vanities.

Am looking a mod to remove the animations in battles, if anyone knows or can help me, pls

    This doesn't/will not exist.

I'd assume the reason you're looking to remove the animation in battles is to speed them up.

If you're looking for a way to remove the animations in battle purely for visual reasons, you could remove their graphics from the ROM you're using, but the same amount of time would still be taken to display them whether they're visible or not.
